IDLS Background IDLS2017 is the 17th International Data Links Symposium. In 2001, the first IDLS was organised in Malvern, UK with the intention of being an open forum not dominated by any stakeholder for data link network communications and interoperability professionals. Government and industry joined to discuss their programmes and products, their challenges and ambitions. End users operators presented their real-world needs in tactical, logistical and training terms. Acquisition agencies described programmes and plans intended to meet operational requirements. Industry was given the opportunity to describe and demonstrate their solutions. Candid discussion was encouraged on all points. IDLS2001, with the encouragement of the UK MOD and the US DoD, drew about 125 participants, almost all from the UK and US. IDLS now attracts between 400 and 600 delegates every year including many of the original 125 from around the world, but the original lofty goal of being a level playing field has been kept. While the goal is accomplished through formal, thematic presentation tracks, training tracks, exhibit stands and cross-nation, cross-company demonstrations, it is generally agreed that the most value gained from IDLS is the spontaneous, ad-hoc networking that takes place among the delegates. IDLS is a 3-day window to accomplish a year s worth of undistracted interaction with colleagues in the data link community including customers, potential customers, operators, teammates and potential teammates. Training Day IDLS2017 is the 17th International Data Links Symposium. For the sixth year running the Symposium will be preceded by a Training Day to be held on Monday 30 October 2017. The Training Day will be take place in the Armed Forces Officers Club and Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE. The IDLSoc Events Team is currently planning on five training courses and corporate members have the opportunity to submit proposals to run a training course. If we receive more than five suitable proposals, we will run more than five courses. All proposals must be submitted by 27 January 2017. IDLS2017 A foundation of the IDLS success has been the Corporate Packages. The exhibit stands are exhibitors venues-within-the-venue to highlight their capabilities and products, but they are also the anchor meeting places for all delegates for three uninterrupted days. The range of packages available for IDLS2017 is detailed below. As in the past, the Bronze Plus, Bronze, Silver and Gold packages to include paid delegate registrations, hotel rooms and promotional opportunities are available.
Dates Tuesday 31 October - Thursday 2 November 2017. Venue IDLS2017 will be held in the Armed Forces Officers Club and Hotel, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Hotel Rooms Bronze, Bronze Plus, Silver and Gold packages include hotel room reservations at the Armed Forces Officers Club and Hotel, Abu Dhabi, UAE. This offer is dependent on the package deposit being paid by Friday 5 May 2017. Hotel room reservations included in the packages are for check-in on Sunday 29 October and check-out on Thursday 2 November 2017. Delegates wishing to arrive earlier or depart later will be responsible for co-ordinating their personal arrangements, but should be able to book additional nights at the agreed IDLS2017 rates using the IDLS2017 exhibitor login area. Please note that we cannot guarantee to be able to book additional hotel room nights either side of the core package dates (Sunday 29 October Wednesday 1 November) but will do our best to do so. We recommend that to ensure you get all the rooms you require in the same hotel that you enter the requirements in the exhibitor login area prior to Friday 1 September 2017. IDLS2017 Industry hotel room rate for single occupancy is 122 USD per night and includes breakfast, Wi -Fi and access to the Business Centre, gymnasium and Olympic swimming pool. These are subject to 10% service fee, 6% tourism fee, 4% municipality charge and 15 Emirati Dirham (AED) daily fee. Please note when booking additional rooms, the Society reserves the right to pass on to the delegate, any additional increase to UAE tax or fees.

Location and Floor Plans Exhibition Details A floor plan is currently being designed to ensure good visibility and access to all stands. Maximum traffic flow will be encouraged. Exhibition space will be allocated once the deposit has been paid. The draft floor plan will be issued after March 2017 and will be a guide only and maybe subject to change. The number of exhibition stands is limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Move-In / Move-Out Times Move-in and set-up: Sunday 29 October and Monday 30 October 2017 from 0900 to 2200 Tear-down and move-out: Thursday 2 November 2017 from 1630 Exhibition staff will be on site from Saturday 28 October 2017 to assist exhibitors. Exhibition Hours The exhibition hours will be: Tuesday 31 October 2017 0830 2000 Wednesday 1 November 2017 0830 1830 Thursday 2 November 2017 0830 1530 Exhibition Area Only Passes Exhibition area only passes are available for $600 each and are intended only for exhibition personnel, to enable them to access to the exhibition area during the Symposium. The pass will also allow the holder to partake of the refreshments at the coffee, tea and lunch breaks but does not include hotel accommodation. Please note that these passes are only available to exhibitors and do not give access to the main sessions, demonstration or educational areas.
How to Book; Details of Payment Deadlines Booking Early booking is essential as space is limited. Stands will be allocated as and when deposits and signed contracts are received. If you wish to exhibit at IDLS2017 then please email secretariat@idlsoc.com or emmajane@dot-theeye.com stating which type of package you require. Your event paperwork will then be issued. In order to confirm your exhibition space the contract must be signed and returned by mail or facsimile. Your 50% deposit must be made by cheque / check or wire transfer as described in the event paperwork. Your deposit must be received by Friday 5 May 2017, and the balance by 31 July 2017. A 3% discount is available on package prices if payment is made in full before Friday 17 March 2017. All deposits are non-refundable.
