Camp Klurman has a flexible week to week option: campers may sign up for as few as one or as many as ten weeks during the summer. LUNCH & SNACK J Café Group provides all campers with a glatt kosher lunch in an air-conditioned lunch room. The lunch menu is varied, nutritious and appealing to children. Due to many food allergies we are a peanut free camp and provide alternate options (gluten, egg and dairy free). Two snacks provided daily. In keeping with MBJCC s kashrut (dietary laws) policy, no food or snacks may be sent from home. FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE The MBJCC strives to ensure that no child is denied a camp experience. Limited financial assistance is available to qualifying families. A confidential application must be completed and submitted with your camper s registration and a $250 deposit. CAMP UNITS The ACHIM and TZOFIM units encourage exploration, adventure, new challenges and creating memories that last a lifetime. Campers participate in a balanced program of local travel and a variety of athletic and artistic activities. ACHIM Entering 3 rd - 4 th Grade Co-ed groups TZOFIM Entering 5 th - 6 th Grade & 7 th - 8 th Grade Co-ed groups Two Field Trips per week: Full day trips to Venetian Pool, Actors Playhouse, Ice Skating, a Marlins Game and many more Every other week Achim campers will have a special community service trip dedicated to the Jewish value of Tikkun Olam (repairing the world). Bi-weekly water sport activities on Indian Creek, supervised by Swim Gym Weekly Robotic and STEM programming led by professionals Weekly sports competition Three Field Trips per week: Tzofim Campers will alternate between three full day trips to local South Florida attractions once per week, and will visit specialized training facilities on the alternate week to learn with professional coaches for two consecutive days. Throughout the summer the Tzofim campers will go to the beach to enjoy the sand and ocean. Certified MBJCC Lifeguards will accompany the campers. Field trips include: FAU Ropes Course, Ice Skating, Sawgrass Game Room and many more Specialized Training facilities include: Rock Wall Climbing, Sailing and Golf. Campers are separated by grades into groups to create level based competitive teams. This multi-sport specialty camp is designed for the sports enthusiast. Each day the campers enjoy a sport of the day, focusing on Basketball, Football and Soccer. WHAT PARENTS NEED TO KNOW... Who works with the children? Highly trained professional staff who have a strong commitment to children and families supervise our camp. Our counselors are carefully selected, background checked, and attend required intensive training on program development, child care and safety. All of our supervisory staff members are college graduates with extensive camp experience. Safety of all campers: The MBJCC provides a safe and nurturing environment for your child. Our supervisory staff and lifeguards are Red Cross certified in CPR, first aid and emergency procedures. Every precaution is taken during all of our activities. For more detailed information, please review our parent handbook. Judaic and Israeli Programming: Judaic programs are an integral part of camp. Campers will have activities with a Judaic specialist and Israeli cultural specialists (Shlichim from Israel). Jewish values guide each theme as our campers learn about each value in our weekly Chavayah activities as well as through all other activities at camp, including weekly Shabbat celebrations. How do the campers travel on field trips? Each camp unit (K - 8th grade), has a unique, exciting and age appropriate travel program. Campers travel in school buses with seat belts. All camp field trips are supervised by a unit head and bunk counselors. J Café Group packs Kosher bag lunches to go for campers. All trips return on time for regular afternoon carpool. What if my child has allergies/takes medication? If your child has a food or environmental allergy or takes medication, include this information on the registration form. Bringing Israel to Camp with Camp Klurman s Summer Shlichim Program: Since, 2013 the MBJCC has participated in the summer Shlichim program (counselors from Israel). Through their personal and professional interactions, the Shlichim educate campers and staff alike about Israel its culture, history and people, ultimately forming an interconnected, global Jewish family. We are excited to welcome two Shlichim from Israel to work as counselors and specialists with the campers. This is an amazing opportunity to bond and create lifelong friendships with dynamic individuals, and grow closer to Israel.
