Cruise Tips for First Time Cruisers Reminders for Returning Cruisers October 10 15, 2011 (MondaySaturday) 5 Day Western Caribbean Cruise Embarkation/Debarkation Port: Galveston, Texas Ship: Carnival Triumph Boarding Time: 12:30 2:30 p.m. There is no need to eat before you board. The fun begins with lunch served on the Lido deck. The ship s greeters will direct you to the appropriate deck. Cruise price includes ALL food on the ship, room service, beverages (except alcohol and sodas), 24 hour pizzeria, and shows/entertainment. Cruise price does NOT include alcoholic beverages and sodas, bingo, casino cash, shore excursions, bottled water, and items placed in the minibar in your cabin. (Not all cabins have a minibar.) Definition: Sail & Sign card: This is a very important card for the cruise keep it with you at all times. It is your ID/boarding pass when leaving and returning to the ship, it is your credit card for purchases made on board, and your cabin key. Dress Code (Below taken from Carnival s website) With the exception of formal (or elegant ) night, dress code is resort attire. Most evenings will be Cruise Casual dress code, but there are those Cruise Elegant evenings one or two nights throughout the voyage. For this cruise, the Cruise Elegant evening will be the 2nd or 3rd day of the cruise, schedules permitting. Casual attire is the order of the day. We suggest shorts, sundresses, tank tops, etc. for the ladies, and for men; shorts, polo shirts, Tshirts, etc. will do. We suggest you wear rubbersoled, low heeled or flat shoes for extra traction while onboard. The use of any footwear with wheels, including but not limited, to Heelys shoes, is prohibited on board our ships. For dining you may want to dress up a bit and/or bring along a light sports jacket or cardigan. Both dress codes for the dining rooms are described below. Cruise Casual Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen Sport slacks, khakis, jeans (no cutoffs), dress shorts (long), collared sport shirts; Ladies Casual dresses, casual skirts or pants and blouses, summer dresses, Capri pants, dress shorts, jeans (no cutoffs). Cruise Elegant Dining Dress Code: Gentlemen Dress slacks, dress shirts. We also suggest a sport coat. If you wish to wear suits and ties or tuxedos, by all means we invite you to do so. Ladies Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; if you d like to show off your evening gowns, that's great too! Not permitted in the dining room during the Cruise Casual or Elegant dinner for ladies and gentlemen: shorts, gym shorts, Tshirts, beach flipflops, bathing suit attire, jeans, cutoff jeans, sleeveless shirts for men, sportswear, and baseball hats.

Items to Pack Comfortable, casual clothing for daytime on ship or shore. Comfortable walking shoes. A light sweater, shawl, wrap or jacket for the cooler areas of the ship. The dining room and show rooms may be cool. Swimwear and work out clothes for pools, Jacuzzis, and health clubs. Accessories appropriate to shore excursions you may take. Hat, sunscreen and sunglasses Camera / video camera PostIt notes. They come in handy for leaving notes for your cabin steward. A small bag for use when going on shore Parking The parking fee at the cruise terminal is about $10 per day and is paid at time of parking. Some parking lots allow you to take your luggage on their lottoship shuttle. SOME DO NOT. Be sure to ask before you pay at the parking lot. NOTE: Check out cruise parking lots at www.galveston.com/cruiseparking. Their prepaid fee is $30 for the five days, and an additional $10 if you want a car cover. There is also Galveston Park N Cruise which is one block from the terminal. Their prepaid fee is $30 for an outside space, $40 for indoor parking. If you make a reservation on line, print your confirmation and place in your cruise package. For guests who will park their car at the port, once you are at the Baggage Dropoff area, everyone aside from the driver may come inside the terminal while the driver continues to the parking area. Depending on the walking distance, some cruise terminals have a complimentary shuttle to and from the parking area/terminal. Cruise Terminal Put this information together to expedite check in at the cruise terminal: printed page(s) from computer information Passport If you do not have a Passport, your driver s license AND original or Certified Copy of birth certificate The credit card which matches the number you used on the Sail & Sign Application Luggage Drop Off Follow the signs to the terminal and continue on to the Baggage Dropoff area. Guests are encouraged to limit their checked luggage to two suitcases per person, with each suitcase not to weigh more than 50 pounds and not exceed 16"H x 24"W. Attach your Carnival Cruise Lines luggage tags to your luggage PRIOR to leaving home and make sure that they are still on your bags when checking in. In many ports, guests have the option of carrying luggage on board at embarkation and off the ship at the end of the cruise as long as it does not exceed 24"W x 16"H. This is an advantage you may want 2

to consider as it will allow for quicker and easier access to your bags. Please note that Carnival assumes no responsibility for carryon luggage. Curbside porters are available to take your luggage to the vessel for delivery to your stateroom by shipboard personnel. Customary tip is $1 per bag. Please be sure each piece of luggage is unlocked and has a tag listing your name and stateroom number. Curbside porters are not employees of Carnival; therefore, if you experience any problems, please report them to porter management on site. Any luggage left at the pier will be forwarded at your expense. Claims for luggage loss or damage must be made in writing to the debarkation personnel prior to leaving the pier area. We suggest all luggage be unlocked before leaving it with the baggage handlers in order to avoid any inconvenience to you or delay in delivering the luggage to your stateroom. Should you choose not to unlock your bags and prohibited items are found during screening, your luggage will be retained until you can open it in front of security personnel. Once you have given your luggage to a porter, you will be directed inside the cruise terminal. Small, personalsized coolers no larger than 12 H x 12 W x 12 L for the purpose of housing small quantities of nonalcoholic beverages (612 cans) and/or medications are permitted as carryon luggage Pack a carry on bag (11 x17 or smaller) with toiletries, jewelry, medications, valuables, and first night dinner wear (if you wish to change in case your luggage has not been delivered). Guests, 21 years of age and older, may bring one bottle (750ml) of wine or champagne, per person, only in their carryon luggage. Embarkation Process Security Checkpoint You will go through the xray security machines with your carryon luggage. If your luggage exceeds 24"W x 16"H x 30"L, you must see a porter to have it checked in. Check in From the security checkpoint, you will be directed to the checkin line. Once you reach a checkin agent, you will need to present your picture I.D. and proof of citizenship, as well as establish your Sail & Sign on board account. For additional information about Sail & Sign, please go to the Carnival website (www.carnival.com). Once the checkin agent completes your registration, they will provide you with your Sail & Sign card. Don t forget to pick up the map of the ship. APass (second security checkpoint) This is your final embarkation step. Everyone's photo, including infants, will be captured through our APass kiosks. Your photo will be linked to your Sail & Sign card. Once on Board Find your cabin. Locate the safe and reset the combination. Locate and read the welcome newsletter ( Carnival Capers ) and review shore excursions information. 3

Familiarize yourself with the life jacket location in your cabin and look on back of the door for the location of your emergency meeting location. There will be a mandatory emergency life boat drill about a half hour before the ship departs. Decide which shore excursion(s) you want to take, complete the signup sheet, and take it to the Shore Excursion desk. Go to the Lido deck for lunch. After lunch check out the rest of the ship with a self guided tour. While finding the show rooms, casino, shops, pools and hot tub locations, also go to the dining room and locate your table. Unlimited Soda Program You may purchase a Fountain Fun Card for unlimited soft drinks. The cost of this card for a five day cruise is $34.50 for age 18 and older. For ages 17 and younger, the cost is $25.88. This amount will be charged at time of purchase and can be used at any bar on board with no additional cost. A sticker, to be attached to the guest s Sail & Sign card can be purchased at the casino bar, lobby bar or pool bar on board the ship. In all locations where bar beverage service is offered, guests will be served a glass of the soft drink or juice of their choice one 16 ounce glass will be served at a time and only to the guest whose name appears on the Sail & Sign card. The program cannot be used through room service. Note: The following beverages are available in the Lido Deck Restaurant, 24/7 and are complimentary: Coffee; Hot Tea; Hot Chocolate; Lemonade; Ice Tea. Service Gratuities For your convenience, we automatically charge the gratuities for dining and stateroom staff to your onboard Sail & Sign account. The total amount is $10.00 per guest, per day (our recommended guideline) as follows: $ 3.50 per Day Stateroom Services $ 5.50 per Day Dining Room Services $ 1.00 Per Day Alternative Services: distributed to other kitchen and hotel service staff. At your discretion, you may adjust the gratuities at any time while onboard. Gratuities will be deemed undisputed unless a request to modify is received prior to disembarking the ship. If you prefer to personally tip at the end of the cruise based upon the service you have received, go to the Purser s desk and ask them to credit your account for the automatic tipping. This will allow you to tip the people you choose to tip based on the service they provide you during the cruise. OR you may prefer to allow the automatic charge on your account, and give someone extra money at the end of the cruise if they are more deserving. For beverage purchases, fifteen percent of the bill is automatically added to the Sail & Sign charge. There is no charge for room service; however, the staff may be tipped as service is rendered. Tipping your Maître d or the wine steward is at your discretion, based upon the service you receive. 4

Preparing To Leave Ship upon Return to Home Port On the last night of the cruise, you will be asked to place your luggage outside your door in the hallway by a certain time. The luggage will be picked up and taken to Customs and will be available for your arrival at dock the next morning. BE SURE to keep clothing for the next day, and your toiletries, medicines, valuables, etc. for use after your luggage has been removed. NOTE: Some cruise lines are now allowing you to get off board earlier after Customs has cleared the ship for debarkation. IF you are able to carry ALL your luggage without help off the ship, you may do so and not have to send your luggage out the night before, etc. You will be told if this cruise line has begun this practice before packing the night before. There will be many, many bags in the luggage pickup area. You might want to use colorful scarves and/or straps to identify your bags more quickly. Don t forget to take everything out of the safe in your cabin. If you wish the services of a porter in the luggage pick up area, choose one before locating your luggage. Emergency Contact and Phone Calls While On Cruise Ship Cell phone service is available on all ships in the Carnival fleet. While your ship is at sea, the cellular system is activated and you can make and receive calls, send and receive text messages, as well as view emails and browse the Internet with over 300 carriers worldwide. International roaming rates apply and are set and billed by your home carrier. Charges will appear on your regular cell phone bill. Please contact your carrier before your cruise to check rates for each service and ensure your plan allows you to roam. For more information, visit www.cellularatsea.com. Friends and family may call guests onboard via Maritime Telecommunications Network (MTN) ShoretoShip telephone service. The rate is $9.50 per minute from the United States; additional long distance charges may apply from outside the United States. The caller needs to have available the ship name (Triumph) and the guest's name. The charges will be applied to the caller's credit card: MasterCard Visa American Express The Discover Card Diner's Club. 1877 CCLSHIP (18772257447) from the U.S. 1 7323353284 from Canada and outside the U.S. If you have questions not covered in this document, check out the Carnival website at www.carnival.com.
