The 1st Asian Congress of Medical and Care Facilities Welcome Address The 1st Asian Congress of Medical and Care Facilities will be held over two days, March 13-14, 2010, at the Kyoto International Conference Center. This is the first international congress in the field of post-acute care. The theme of the congress is Advanced post-acute medicine and the actual and future situation of post-acute medicine. We hope the congress will provide an opportunity to think about what advanced post-acute medicine should deliver to support the establishment of a comprehensive system covering all aspects of non-acute care. We plan to welcome participants from other Asian countries with aging populations Republic of Korea, China, Taiwan and to hear presentations by medical professionals concerning the situation regarding elderly healthcare and post-acute care in their countries. The opportunity to hear firsthand what is happening in each country, including Japan, should prompt a lively exchange of views and information on problems common to Asia. To facilitate interaction among participants from all countries, we are also planning some activities unique to Kyoto, and therefore hope as many people as possible will be able to participate in the congress. We look forward to seeing you in Kyoto. Tetsuya Nakamura Organizing President of AMCF2010 Chief Director of Itabashi Chuo Medical Center 1
