Chapter Newsletter for Jun 2005 Est. 1990 Vol. #6-2005 Directors Report Get on your marks, get ready! Stop! Rain delay. Yes it s springtime and we still have some of the best riding right here in Northeast Iowa. Anyway our summer ride schedule has been set thanks to our Road Captains. I think we have some great rides lined up and look forward to seeing you all again. Work on the 2007 Iowa State HOG Rally Proposal continues. We will soon be taking several pictures throughout northeast Iowa for the proposal and ask for membership participation. One of the main pictures will be in front of the Waukon HD Dealership with members and their bikes and another will be on the Luther College Campus. We are thinking that picture sessions will be on Saturdays during May. More details to come. We are still looking for some ideas for our winter away from the shop meeting locations. We have two locations and are seeking three to four more. We must finalize these locations before the end of the summer. You ideas are welcome. Lastly, I did not attend the May meeting due to work commitments so our capable Assistant Director, Myrna, conducted the meeting. Please continue to e-mail me any agenda items and we will get them added. Thanks for your cooperation and remember the pictures coming up in May. Hoop Hi, From the Asst Director I wanted to thank everyone at May s meeting for having patience with me; I was nervous up in the Director s chair. The Ice Breaker ride was just what we all needed, lots of sunshine, curvy roads, good people, good food, Thanks Bernie! And a special thanks to Marieta and Gary, camping (and just being) with you guys is always a treat. Tell the gigglers hi. Myrna & Z

It is available online at www.waukonharley.com, then go to Local H.O.G and then member newsletter. Another way would be to send me your email address and I will send you the newsletter. I will also put newsletters on the counter between service and parts. The last choice is to have it mailed through the post office. This is the most expensive way and we do not have the funds in the treasury to mail the newsletter unless there is no other way. Thanks for your help Ron Brewster/Chapt. Editor
First Ride of the year On Sunday May 22 our HOG chapter held it's first group ride for the 2005 riding season. Bernie and Lynn Jaster led the "Ice Breaker" ride this year. The weather was nearly perfect, except for some gusty winds, it was warm and sunny. Thirty-six riders on 27 bikes met at the Casey's in Guttenberg. Many of us arrived early I suppose in anticipation of this being the first ride of the year. The extra time gave us a chance to chat with old friends, to get acquainted with some of the new members and guests and to check out to see what changes were made to bikes during the winter. With a loud rumble we headed out of the Mississippi valley and headed off towards the bluffs of Balltown, where we made a quick stop for a group photo overlooking the Mississippi valley and the hills of Wisconsin in the background, taken by Ron Brewster. Bernie and Lynn then led us on a very scenic ride on some very hilly backroads with lots of curves (Who ever said Iowa was flat is wrong!) to the Asian Buffet in Dubuque. There we enjoyed a great meal with lots of choices, from sushi to pizza and everything in between. Thanks for a great ride Bernie and Lynn!!!!!! I hope that all of you join us again on our next ride, "The Ride for the Ages" on June 12th. Remember bring along a gift (from the list of items to choose found in the newsletter) to be distributed among the residents of Northgate Care Center. This is another great opportunity to show our HOG Chapter's contribution as far as charitable community service. Jim Reiser (Activities Director)
