The stone bridge, built in 1135 1146, the Church of St James, and the Schloss of Thurn and Taxis are a few of the highlights of this beautiful city. Back onboard this evening, experience a Bavarian evening with lively traditional music and a dinner of local specialities. Optional: City Walk of Regensburg USD 18/CAD 25 per person Regensburg is one of the best-preserved medieval cities in Germany, and its historic buildings (about 1,400) are most impressive. The castle-like residences of the wealthy, patrician families with their high towers dominated the townscape of the Middle Ages and still testify the same status today. Among this architectural treasures are churches, monasteries, the town hall, and one of Europe s oldest bridges that has spanned the Danube since the 12th century. During this walk, you will recognize the former power and wealth of this city, which once controlled the trade route to the Orient. During a short visit of the Regensburg Cathedral, dedicated to St. Peter, you can admire the emblem of Gothic architecture in southern Germany (depends on the opening hours of the Cathedral and/or if a mass is celebrated etc.). Optional: Excursion to Weltenburg Abbey USD 63/ CAD 85 per person A coach brings you towards Weltenburg, with a brief detour to the Hall of Liberation. It is an historical classical monument upon Mount Michelsberg above the city of Kelheim. It is an impressive marble building fashioned after the Parthenon in Athens. It towers high above the Danube and can be seen from far across the plains. Afterwards you board an excursion boat, which takes you past the former city of the Wittelsbacher through the nature reserve Weltenburger Enge to the Benedictine abbey of Weltenburg. The monastery, founded by Irish or Scottish monks in about 620 A.D., is the oldest monastery in Bavaria. After a short tour of the abbey church you can taste the famous dark beer of Weltenburg, which is brewed here in the oldest monastery brewery in the world.

DAY 04: PASSAU LINZ, AUSTRIA (B/L/D) A short stop this morning shows you the three- rivers city of Passau, lying at the confluence of the Danube, the Inn and the Ilz. At St. Stephen s Cathedral, see an organ with 17,774 pipes and 233 registers, the second largest in the world. The imposing fortress Veste Oberhaus is located high on the hill overlooking the town and the three rivers. This afternoon, the vessel stops in the third largest city in Austria Linz. The main street and square are marked with unique churches, concert venues, and plenty of artists who come to the city to thrive. Time permitting, sample one of the famous Linzer Tortes before returning to the vessel. Optional: Full day excursion to Salzburg including Salzkammergut USD 100/ CAD 135 per person A two-hour coach ride will bring you to Salzburg, the city of music. The old town with its world famous baroque architecture is one of the best-preserved city centres north of the Alps. It was adopted by UNESCO in 1997 and is included on its list of World Cultural Heritage Sites. Salzburg is also the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. During the guided tour through the old town you will visit the birth house of the musician as well as other well-known attractions, such as the Getreidegasse. This long yet narrow shopping-street runs parallel to the river in the centre of town. The street is famous for its old (or old-style) sigange outside each store, each indicating the profession found within. You continue to the Mirabell Palace, a beautiful castle with gardens, built by an archbishop for his beloved courtesan. Watch out for the "Garden of Dwarfs" and the Garden of Roses. After the included lunch, you head to the picturesque village Mondsee which was a film location of the well-known movie The Sound of Music. Enjoy the beautiful scenery as you are heading back to the ship. Optional: City Walk of Passau USD 18/ CAD 25 per person During this walk around the old quarter of Passau, your knowledgeable guide will point out many buildings that bear witness to its historical importance in the so called three river city. You can admire picturesque lanes, promenades and squares and find out some interesting facts about the Bishopric city. Above all, you will be especially impressed by the Baroque St. Stephen's cathedral, with the world's largest organ (17,974 pipes and 233 registers), the new Bishop's residence and the town hall. Optional: City Walk of Linz (includes transfer to Aschach) USD 20/ CAD 27 per person Linz was founded by the Romans, who called it "Lentia", but there was already a Celtic settlement called "Lentos"; probably their word for the winding of a river. It was a provincial and local government city of the Holy Roman Empire, and an important trading point connecting several routes. Being the city where the Habsburg Emperor Friedrich III spent his last years, it was, for a short period of time, the most important city in the empire. It lost its status to Vienna and Prague after the death of the Emperor in 1493. There are many things to see in Linz. Take a stroll down the main street which leads to the main square. In addition to the medieval town square in the historic old town and the Mozarthaus you can see the Renaissance villas, the old cathedral with the Bruckner organ or the new cathedral. Visits depend on opening hours of the cathedral and/or if a mess is celebrated etc. If time allows, you can taste a piece of the famous Linzer Torte (Linzer Cake) in one of the local bakeries. DAY 05: MELK/EMMERSDORF WEISSENKIRCHEN - VIENNA (B/L/D) This morning presents an opportunity to visit the famous Benedictine Abbey of Melk (optional-not included) which stands over the Danube, or continue with the vessel to the town of Weissenkirchen. Here, sample some of the region s famous Riesling wines or enjoy a leisurely stroll through the cobbled streets. Everyone will rejoin the ship in the early afternoon to continue on to Vienna. After arrival in Vienna, opt for the Sound of Vienna (optional-not included) and listen to the Alt Wien orchestra play popular pieces from Vienna s classical era, as the vessel remains overnight. Optional: Excursion to Melk Abbey USD 60/ CAD 80 per person Melk Abbey is an Austrian Benedictine abbey, and one of the world's most famous monastic sites. Today's impressive Baroque abbey was built between 1702 and 1736. Particularly noteworthy is the abbey s church and the impressive library with countless medieval manuscripts and frescos. A guided tour takes you through the abbot s chambers, along the imperator s walk, through the marble hall, the balconies and the library. Continue your tour to Du rnstein, one of the best-known wine villages in the Wachau. Situated in the heart of the magnificent valley, on the banks of the mighty river Danube, the charming town offers the unique combination of a breathtaking scenery, traditional architecture and places of historic interest. A walk through it allows you to appreciate its glorious position. (optional-not included), the sumptuous summer palace and gardens of Empress Maria Theresia and the Habsburg empire. After a full day of exploration, enjoy a relaxing dinner onboard. Optional: Morning City Tour of Vienna USD 37/ CAD 50 per person It may take days or maybe weeks to fully discover Vienna. On this tour, you will get an overall impression of the most important sights Vienna has to offer. First you drive along the famous Ringstrasse, passing by several magnificent buildings like the stunning opera house, the parliament or Vienna s imposing city hall. The bus tour is followed by a guided tour through the city centre. The walking tour passes the well known Hofburg Imperial Palace and ends at the emblem of Vienna, St. Stepan s cathedral. Before you return to the ship you have the possibility to take a walk in the city center. Optional: Guided Tour of Schoenbrunn Palace USD 50/ CAD 68 per person A coach takes you to one of the most beautiful monuments of Vienna, Schoenbrunn Palace. The castle was built on the template of Versailles, the residence of the Sun King Louis XIV. As one of the most important cultural heritage in Austria, the castle and its gardens were declared as a World Cultural Heritage Site. The reign of Maria Theresia signifies the most splendid era for Schoenbrunn. The castle and park were the centre of the courtly and political life. Under the personal guidance of the Empress, it was remodelled and expanded to become a Royal residence. A complex with a total of 1,441 rooms and halls had been created. You will visit most of the ceremonial rooms and then have the opportunity to walk around in the beautifully designed gardens of the palace. Overnight onboard Optional: Concert Visit Sound of Vienna USD 60/ CAD 80 per person In the very place where Johann Strauss himself used to direct his orchestra from the position of first violin, the absolute essence of Vienna's classical music can once again be heard daily. The Salonorchester Alt Wien, one of the best-known interpreters of classical Viennese music, presents an evening full of Viennese charm with the lilting sound of waltzes, polkas, arias and duets, as well as operetta and piano concerto melodies. Accompanied by excellent opera vocalists and enchanting ballet soloists, Vienna's classical music reveals itself as a living firework display for all senses. Bratislava is a little jewel along the Danube. Optional: Morning City Tour of Bratislava USD 36/ CAD 50 per person On this tour, you have the chance to get to know the capital of the young Slovakian Republic. Passing by the home of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, the old city walls and the summer residence of the archbishop, the current residence of the president of Slovakia, a coach will bring you to the castle of Bratislava high above the city. From the hilltop, you can enjoy a beautiful view onto the castle facility. Afterwards, you have the opportunity to participate in a guided walking tour through the restored old town. From Michael's Gate, you will leisurely stroll through the historic city centre where you can admire sights such as the Primatial Palace, St. Martin Cathedral, a former coronation cathedral of Hungarian kings, as well as the Academia Istropolitana, the oldest university of the city which dates back to the 15th century. In addition to numerous palaces, you will also walk past the Main square with the old City Hall, the Opera House and Ganymede's Fountain. Optional: Guided Tour Of Schlosshof Palace USD 55/ CAD 75 per person From Bratislava the bus takes you to Castle Hof in Austria. The magnificent complex was built in the early 18th century through the efforts of two of the most important personalities of the Austrian Baroque period. Field Marshall Prince Eugene of Savoy was already a legend in his lifetime. An enthusiast for the arts, he provided almost unlimited funding for the construction which the brilliant architect Lucas von Hildebrandt used to realise his virtuoso concept of a unique ensemble, comprising a magnificent palace, beautifully designed terraced gardens and an idyllic country estate. Under its later owner, Empress Maria Theresa, an additional storey was added to the palatial building, which was remodelled in the style of French Classicism in accordance to the tastes of the time. Unique in Europe, this world of adventure has ever since become a top destination for those who seek culture, nature and delight and want to explore the fascinating world of the Baroque in all its authenticity and diversity in an historical ambience. After the visit inside the castle you have enough free time to see the beautiful garden and the Maierhof with numerous animals.

DAY 08: ESZTERGOM, HUNGARY - BUDAPEST (B/L/D) Relax onboard as the vessel makes its way to Budapest, Hungary. For those interested in exploring the Hungarian countryside, spend the morning visiting Esztergom and its Basilica dedicated to Saint Mary, and Szentendre, known for its art galleries and museums. After lunch, explore the beautiful Hungarian capital of Budapest. Uniquely straddling the Danube river, the Buda side with its Fisherman s Bastion and the Pest Side with its famous Hungarian Parliament building, are connected by the beautiful Chain Bridge. An evening cruise onboard your Amadeus vessel along the illuminated skyline, accompanied by a folklore show of music and dance, is a perfect ending to your visit. Optional: Excursion to Esztergom and Szentendre USD 43/ CAD 58 per person Esztergom, the former residence of the Hungarian kings and seat of the Archbishop, is one of the highlights of this excursion. Your tour starts with a visit of the vast domed basilica, the largest cathedral in Hungary. Built in the early 19th century, it incorporates an ornate red marble chapel from an earlier church. After visiting the impressive cathedral, the excursion continues along the Danube to the imposing ruined fortress of Visegrad from where you have a glorious view of the "knee of the Danube. This charming little town was once inhabited by Serbian refugees, who came here three centuries ago to escape the Turks. The two main churches show signs of Serbian Orthodox influence, and there are brightly painted Baroque houses in the town centre. Szentendre has developed as a centre for ceramics, thanks to the influence of the local artist Margit Kovacs, who lived from 1920 to 1977. From Szentendre you continue south to Budapest along the scenic west bank of the River Danube. The towns and villages along this stretch of the river are a popular retreat for the inhabitants of Budapest. Optional: City tour of Budapest USD 36/ CAD 50 per person Budapest, the Queen of the Danube, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world and has managed to retain a charm of its own with the help of the renovations in recent years.
