From here you will begin the trek, heading up through the beautiful valley of the Dudh Khosi River towards Namche Bazaar and the monastery at Thangboche. Following in the footsteps of intrepid adventures of old, you ll pass the memorials to lost climbers as you make your way through the spectacular mountain scenery towards your final goal. ITINERARY DAY 1: KATHMANDU Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer on to your comfortable boutique hotel. DAY 2: KATHMANDU Enjoy a full day's guided tour of the Nepalese capital today, taking in the famous historical monuments of Durbar Square including the Kumari Bahal, the old royal palace and the residence of the living goddess. You'll also visit the golden-topped stupa of Swayambunath (The Monkey Temple) and the site of Pashupatinath, the holiest Hindu temple in the Kathmandu Valley, situated beside the sacred waters of the Bagmati River. (B) DAY 3: KATHMANDU - LUKLA (2800M) - PHAKDING (2610M) Leaving Kathmandu this morning you will take the exhilarating flight on to Lukla. The starting point of the trek takes you down towards the Dudh Khosi River, following a relatively easy trail on towards Phakding. A 3-4 hour hike today, lunch will be provided en route and the distant peak of Mount Kusum Kangaru provides a spectacular backdrop to your first overnight lodge. Overnight in Phakding. (B,L,D) DAY 4: PHAKDING - NAMCHE BAZAAR (3440M) Taking around six hours, today's trek sees you heading up towards Namche Bazaar, following a meandering climb with views of Kusum Kangaroo and Thamsherku providing a stunning visual accompaniment. With luck, if weather conditions allow, you may also spot your first sight of Everest this morning. After lunch you'll begin the steep ascent up to the colourful town of Namche, set high amongst the peaks of the Khumbu region. Spending the night here, the town is amply equipped with restaurants, shops and internet cafes. (B,L,D) DAY 5: NAMCHE BAZAAR Today provides a chance to start acclimatising to the higher altitude, with a day hike around Namche. It is important to spend this time getting more used to the challenges that often come with trekking in the mountains, so an optional hike to nearby Syangboche is recommended. Roughly an hour's climb from Namche, Syangboche provides some spectacular 360 degrees of the surrounding peaks, with Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Thamsherku clearly visible. (B,L,D)

DAY 6: NAMCHE BAZAAR - DEBOCHE (3800M) The trek up to Deboche today takes around seven hours and provides some stunning views of Thamsherku, Ama Dablan and Mount Everest. Stopping for lunch on the way to Phunge Thanga, you'll then continue on up to the monastery at Thangboche, an ascent that will take some three hours, but presents you with some spectacular panoramic views from the top. From here it is then an easy hour's walk down towards your next lodge in Deboche. (B,L,D) DAY 7: DEBOCHE - DINGBOCHE (4410M) Today's journey takes you on to the Comfort Lodge in Dingboche, a trek of some six hours that takes you across the Pangboche Bridge and over the Budha Koshi. The trail along this stretch of the climb narrows considerably, so take your time. After passing through Pangboche, the trail on to Dingboche takes around another three hours. (B,L,D) DAY 8: DINGBOCHE A rest day around Dingboche presents the perfect opportunity for another acclimatisation day, with an optional side trip out to nearby Chukung providing some welcome altitude training. A small settlement situated at the base of Island Peak, Chukung provides some breathtaking views of the nearby peaks of Lhotse, Nuptse and Ama Dablan. (B,L,D) DAY 9: DINGBOCHE - DHULGA (3800M) Moving on to Dhugla today the trekking is relatively easy, with wide, flat trails providing a chance to relax and enjoy the views of Lhotse, Mount Tawache, Cho Latse and Lobuche. This afternoon then provides a chance to join an optional excursion up to nearby Lake Cho La, located at the base of the Cho La Tse Mountain. Overnight in Dhugla. (B,L,D) DAY 10: DHULGA - LOBUCHE (4910M) Continuing on to Lobuche today, your first two hours of trekking involves a relatively strenuous ascent up a gentle but continuous slope. At the top you'll find a memorial site to the memory of climbers who have lost their lives during expeditions to the summit of Everest. From here the walk on to Lobuche is a reasonably easy hike that gets you in later this afternoon, in time to head up to the summit of a nearby hill to enjoy the views across the Khumbu Glacier. (B,L,D)

DAY 11: LOBUCHE - GORAKSHEP (5140M) - EVEREST BASE CAMP (5346M) After a five hour trek to Gorakshep you'll then continue on to Everest Base Camp. Treacherous in parts, today's hike takes you across a variety of terrain, including moraine, snow, rocky hills and wide open trails. Relatively strenuous, the views though more than compensate for the hard work. After stopping for lunch in Gorakshep, this afternoon sees you continuing the climb up nearby Kala Pattar to enjoy spectacular views of the Khumbu Icefall and the peaks of Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse and Pumori. Overnight in Gorakshep. (B,L,D) DAY 12: EVEREST BASE CAMP - KALLAPATTHAR - PHERICHE (4200M) The day begins with an early morning hike to Everest Base Camp, a round trip of some five hours. The sense of achievement as you reach the pinnacle of your journey is palpable and during the spring season the camp is full of expedition teams preparing for the climb to the summit. Returning to Gorakshep, you'll then begin the long hike down towards Pheriche. (B,L,D) DAY 13: PHERICHE - KENJUMA (3500M) The trek to Kenjuma today is the longest of the trip, taking some nine to ten hours to complete the day's hike. Much of it is downhill though, so you can at least enjoy the mountain views as you meander back down the relatively easy trail to your next lodge. (B,L,D) DAY 14: KENJUMA - MONJO (2850M) The majority of today's trek is downhill, a five hour walk that descends back down towards the foothills and affords a last look at Everest as you make your way on to Monjo. You will then spend this evening enjoying the hospitality of this quiet village located close to the base of Thamsherku. (B,L,D) DAY 15: MONJO - LUKLA A final day of undulating ups and downs sees you arriving back in Lukla later today, to spend a last evening in the mountains before the flight back to Kathmandu tomorrow. (B,L,D) DAY 16: LUKLA - KATHMANDU Fly to Kathmandu and transfer to your hotel for a final evening in the capital. (B)

DAY 17: KATHMANDU Transfer to Kathmandu's international today airport for your onward journey. (B)
