Our journey begins! We ll travel to Phnom Pehn steeped in Cambodia s rich history it is no wonder the capital is named the Pearl of Asia. There we will discover the harrowing history of the Khmer Rouge and visit the Killing Fields, a now surprisingly peaceful place that was once the sight of one the worst atrocities in humanity s history. We will explore the city by the riverside, visit the National museum, a gorgeous traditionally designed terracotta building home to Khmer sculpture and art, then visit the Royal palace, still home to the incumbent King of Cambodia. The palace is famed for its 59- meter-tall Throne Hall and the Silver Pagoda, which is covered in 5,000 silver tiles.
Home to the majestic temples of Ankor, a backpacker s paradise and Tuk Tuk heartland, Siem Reap is not one to be missed! We will visit the temple complex including Angkor Wat - the cultural symbol of Cambodia, a portal back to 1000 years ago and deep rooted (both literally and figuratively!) into Cambodia. Spending time here will give us the chance to explore the maze of ancient causeways, passages that make up this astounding jungle complex. Of course, it wouldn t be a trip to South-east Asia without a Tuk Tuk tour, which we ll also be doing during our time in Siem Reap!
After our sojourn in the quiet and tranquillity of Siem Reap it s time to step things up! We ll dive into the world s busiest tourism destination Bangkok. Famed for its amazing food and restaurants featuring dishes from across Thailand. A city of contrasts, Bangkok has the gleaming towers and malls of a busy cosmopolitan city and the shimmering temple spires and quaint housing of a historical capital. Activities will include visiting the Grand Palace and Temple of the Emerald Buddha (the most sacred Buddhist temple in Thailand), the Temple of Reclining Buddha and Wat Arun the temple of Dawn. Later we will experience the infamous Khao San Road a tiny street packed with so much to do. A backpacker hotspot full of shoebox hotels ranging from the delicious to the bizarre, Khao San gained a reputation for being truly sublime!
After the hustle and bustle of Bangkok we ll relax in the ancient capital of the Lan Na Kingdom nestled in Thailand s highest mountains. This part of the world is both interesting and absolutely stunning! During our time there we ll take a trip to the old town, experience the hubbub of the weekend markets and participate in a cooking class. On top of that we will spend an unforgettable day visiting Chiang Mai s elephant jungle sanctuary!
From Chiang Mai we ll head to Pai and enjoy the place for what it is simply amazing! Once a peaceful market village, Pai is now a haven for travellers from all corners of the globe. Sequestered away in a mountain valley it s stunning surroundings including Waterfalls and natural hot springs make a must-see destination on any trip to Thailand.
