The man, believed to be 38 years old, was caught in a cement feeder at the plant at Kandos, near Mudgee, about 10:30pm AEST. He was already dead when ambulance officers arrived. WorkCover spokesman John Kirby says an inspector is on his way and the company has been issued with a nondisturbance order. The Plymouth man's co worker was across the street at the time of the incident. Manufacturing 1 A man has died in a workplace accident at Stanhope, when he was hit by a falling bag of salt at the workplace of dairy giant Fonterra. Mr Birt said the man was the 16th person to die in Victoria in a workplace related accident this year. Agriculture 1 On 9 September a man was killed at a glass factory in West Heidelberg. It is believed he may have been using a crane to move the glass when it fell. The man was working alone after hours and was discovered by family members after he didn t come home Manufacturing 1 19-Nov-09 Unknown The Age - 19/11/09 VICTORIA has experienced the highest number of workrelated deaths for eight years after a recent jump in the number of fatalities. Since the start of October seven people have died at work, including a 48- year-old man who was hit by a forklift last week while delivering turf to a home near Lake Eildon. His death brought to 25 the number of people who have died so far this year - an increase of seven compared with the same time last year. WorkSafe Victoria spokesman Michael Birt said the lead-up to Christmas, and the return from holidays, were often the most dangerous times of year for injuries and fatalities. Mining 1 Heavy machinery accident at Brisbane site A worker has died in a site accident in Pinkenba, north Brisbane, after being struck by a counter weight on heavy machinery at the site on Main Beach Road. Construction 1 31-Oct-09 Unknown M Electrocuted Nov 18 AAP Bridbane - Master Electricians chief executive Malcolm Richards told the Nine Network he was horrified to hear a second installer had died. In October, Mr Richards called for an immediate end to the program, prompted by the death of an insulation installer. The man was electrocuted after a staple, used to fix foil insulation in the roof space of a home, pierced a cable that electrified the foil. A second man also received an electric shock and burns in that accident. Construction 1 18-Nov-09 Unknown M 16 Electrocuted BRISBANE, Nov 18 AAP - A 16-year-old boy has died in a workplace accident from an apparent electric shock. He is the second Queensland insulation installer contractor to die in recent weeks. The teenager was on the roof of a house in Cocks Road, Stanwell, southwest of Rockhampton, when the accident happened about 9.20am (AEST). WorkSafe WA said the man was killed at a Karratha transport depot yesterday while transferring an elevating work platform from one truck to another. A ramp he was driving down at the time is believed to have failed. Unions WA acting secretary Simone McGurk said the man, employed as an operator by N and L Transport, would be listed as the 10th fatality at a WA workplace this year. Transport 1 Death at Kanowna Belle minesite Police are investigating the death of a 26 year old man at the Kanowna Belle underground mine during the night shift on Friday. The Australian Workers Union believes the man fell into a hole. The man was found with no vital signs after a fall from height in the Barrick owned mine. Mining 1 Worksafe to investigate plumber's death A man has died in a fall from the roof of a four storey building in Perth. WorkSafe WA said the 50 year old plumber is believed to have been working on the roof of the building in South Perth when he fell to the ground. His body was found by a passerby on the South Perth Esplanade at about 10am on Wednesday. WorkSafe is investigating the death. Maintenance 1 2-Sep-09 Unknown M 50 Fall from height An Alcoa contractor has died after falling down a shaft at the company's Wagerup alumina refinery 6am today. Alcoa said it was working with the contracting firm, Waroona police and other the Department of Mines and Petroleum to investigate the incident.
