EDITORIAL NEW PERSPECTIVES AND NEW AMBITIONS With more than 200 sites dedicated to professional conventions, seminars and events in France, there are many alternatives and options available to events organisers or businesses wishing to bring together their clients or collaborators. Given this fiercely competitive market, the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg makes no secret of its ambitions: to strengthen Strasbourg s dynamism and attractiveness on the basis of a conscious development strategy and effective hosting infrastructure fulfilling international standards. We ve already completed the first stage! After two years of work, Strasbourg Convention & Exhibition Centre restructured, expanded and modernised is opening the doors of its new multi-functional spaces. Complementary and modular, they provide almost endless layout possibilities, from a small and intimate event to one on an international scale. This new infrastructure, at the heart of the European city, fully answers the expectations and needs of the MICE market. In order to attract even more events, investment in infrastructure goes hand in hand with a commercial strategy and policy to promote the hosting of the national and international professional encounters of the non-profit and corporate markets. This mean that everybody involved in destination business tourism is working together to develop Strasbourg s attractiveness, competitiveness and international influence. Welcome to Strasbourg! Jean-Eudes RABUT President of the Board of Directors of Strasbourg événements

I. The perfect setting for events of all sizes 1. The Convention Centre and the Exhibition Park A hotspot for economic and cultural encounters, Strasbourg Convention & Exhibition Centre is an unbeatable events complex serving the local area. Hosting and producing national and international professional events, it has helped to shape Strasbourg s influence, attractiveness and development. Every year, the site hosts nearly 250 events and welcomes 750,000 visitors, generating on average 80,000 overnight stays and nearly 100 million Euros in economic spin-offs. Enjoying strategic positioning a stone s throw from the town centre, the European institutions and a network of quality hotels, Strasbourg s refurbished and extended Convention Centre extends over more than 50,000m² and offers the perfect environment for professional and public events. The adjacent Exhibition Centre covers an area of more than 24,000m². The synergy between the meeting rooms and exhibition halls offers the blend and modularity needed to host hybrid and simultaneous events, from size XS to XXL, under optimum conditions. With this new infrastructure, the Strasbourg Convention & Exhibition Centre has become a highly effective event complex on the cutting edge of technological, architectural and environmental innovation. Located in an ever-evolving space, the event complex has seen the growth of the International Business District of Wacken. The aim is to create a dynamic ecosystem, a window on local economic activity. Bringing the structures up to date is therefore part of the ambitious programme of the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg: to consolidate the city s influence and attract major national and international events. And in order to ensure the success of its hosting strategy, the city is working with the Strasbourg Convention & Exhibition Centre to set in place a support mechanism for the MICE sector, aimed at events organisers: Helloptimist*, two separate but combinable service packs. The aim is to make it easier to hold events in Strasbourg. * Information on the service is available from the commercial teams.

Destination Strasbourg As a European city, Strasbourg enjoys a very special position due to the diversity of its economic actors, the wealth of its industries (traditional and new-generation), the tourist appeal of its area, and it holds the statuses of European capital, Eurometropolis and capital of the Great East region. 1. Europtimistic ADN When they choose Strasbourg as the venue for their events, professionals naturally benefit from the virtues of Europtimism: dynamism, the effervescence of the network of economic players, a great many innovative projects, and so much more. Ecological Boasting an exceptional quality of living, the result of taking environmental issues into consideration: climate, travel, eco-areas, nature in the city, and much more.

Higher education and research are important levers for the economic development of the Eurometropolis. The city stands out due to its expertise in the field of science, due to its commitment in four competitiveness clusters: Fibres-Energivie, Hydreos, Véhicule du Futur and Alsace Biovalley. The aim is to implement collaborative projects, promote industrial growth, increase the visibility of this ecosystem and focus on future prospects Strasbourg is also located at the cutting edge of research with the University Hospital Institute (IHU Strasbourg), with healthcare, research and training all under one roof, bringing together the knowledge of medical, scientific and industrial experts. Benefiting from the French Future Investments Programme, IHU Strasbourg aims to become an international centre of reference and a true driving force for economic development. Finally, Strasbourg has also seen the evolution of collaborative workspaces, such as Shadok, the FabLabs, co-working spaces and shared production workshops. This dynamic is leading to a new culture of the exchange of knowledge.

4. Tourism and a residential economy The Eurometropolis benefits enormously from the attractiveness of Alsace, one of the bestloved tourist regions, in the form a huge economic boost! The tourist economy is therefore particularly powerful, particularly towards the end of the year, when Strasbourg turns into the Christmas Capital, welcoming nearly 2.8 million visitors.
