Information on epidemiological situation and control measures regarding Classical Swine Fever in wild boar in Hungary Animal Health and Animal Welfare Directorate Central Agricultural Office, Hungary 2-3 March 21 SCoFCAH, Brussels 1.

Map of the determined CSF infected area

The cases CSF cases in wild boar in Nógrád county and in specified part of Pest county In Nógrád county the last case was confirmed on 23 February 29 by NRL In the specified part of Pest county the last case was confirmed on 3 October 29 by NRL Until now 268 cases were found in wild boars: Nógrád county: 12 cases (22 Jan 27 23 Feb 29), Specified part of Pest county: 148 cases (1 Dec 27 3 ( 29 Oct 2-3 March 21 SCoFCAH, Brussels 3.

Cases in 29 (in Pest county only)

March 27 Jan 21: 7 samples 236 (33,7%) seropositive 15 viropositive HUNTING PRESERVE GALGAMÁCSA Size: 5 km² No of wild boars (strain stock without piglets!!!): 245 Average density: 4,9 wild boar/km ² 8% 7% 6% 5% 4% 3% 2% 1% % Results os CSF examinations of Wild boars Pest county "Hunting Preserve Galgamácsa" seropositive viruspositive There is one Hunting Association in the area. Total depopulation of the hunting preserve until 28 th Febr 21 was ordered! 27Marc h-aug 27Dec- 28Febr 28Jun- Aug 28Dec- 29Febr 29Jun- Aug 29Dec- 21Jan

The results of CSF surveillance in wild boars on the whole territory of Hungary between 1-3-29 and 31-1-21 Type of test Number of tests Negative Positive Antibody ELISA 24873 23359 1514 Antigencapture ELISA* 7759 7754 5 PCR 1343 13388 15** * After the Trilateral Meeting (12-13 Nov 29) it has been finished ** Including 1 wild boar shot due to abnormal behaviour

The results of the virological examinations (PCR) in wild boar in the four counties during the last 3 months County No of PCR Negative Positive Nógrád 253 253 Pest 1389 1389 Borsod 757 757 Heves 1592 1592

Results of the new measures implemented (with the new National Eradication Plan) The aim was: To increase the total number of the shot wild boars (with about 1%) To increase the number of shot young (under 12 months) animals within the hunting bag (goal: 2 25% of the total number of shot wild boars) Pest county: Increase of the rate of young wild boars in the hunting bag. 12 1 8 6 4 2 28 March - Aug 28 Sept - 29 Febr 29 March - Aug 29 Sept - 21 Jan 1-year-old >1-year-old

Analysis of the current situation The number of CSF cases significantly decreased in 29 in comparison with 28: In Nógrád county the last case was found more than one year ago, in Pest county 4 months ago During the last three months almost 14 wild boars were tested in Pest county without any viropositive results Measures implemented after the trilateral meeting: Improvement of the monitoring programme in domestic pig population. Total depopulation of the hunting preserve in Galgamácsa

Changes in the laboratory diagnosis of CSF in wild boar The testing with antigen detection ELISA has been finished Virus isolation has to be carried out in case of positive PCR result In those areas where CSF case(s) occurred in the last six months, a positive PCR result or a positive virus isolation is enough to confirm the disease

Slovakia Hungary Bilateral Meeting (Budapest, 16 Feb 21) Both countries agreed on the followings: To continue with monitoring and control measures without vaccination. Emergency vaccination of wild boars is possible if the epidemiological situation will be negatively changed. Bilateral meetings on central level: At least one bilateral meeting per year depending on the epidemiological situation Bilateral meetings on regional level: Two bilateral regional expert groups were established. Contact persons were appointed for each group from both sides.

Slovakia Hungary Bilateral Meeting (Budapest, 16 Feb 21) Both countries agreed on the followings: Cooperation between National Reference Laboratories (NRLs): Both countries supported to continue the existing collaboration between NRLs, which is based on exchange of relevant information and biological materials. Exchange of information: To exchange the results of monitoring of CSF in wild boars on a monthly basis, in domestic pig population on a half yearly basis. The persons responsible were appointed.
