Hugo Item 236-01 Quebec business letter 1782, local stampless folded letter from William Gill to Jacob Rowe. The letter relates to partnership issues. Internal separation and paper piece missing not affecting message. $175.00

Item 236-02 St. Andrews CE (Argenteuil) 1849, stampless folded letter from St. Andrews CE paid 1/4 to Hamilton. Letter relates to an acknowledgement of remittance. $45.00 Item 236-03 Tiny Toronto halfpenny handstamp - 1854, stampless folded drop letter from Toronto rated ½d. (collect and held by the P.O. until called for). Message related to money. Throughout the years of the pence era, Toronto used a number of different halfpenny handstamps, here is a nice example. $150.00 SOLD

Item 236-04 halfpenny paid at Quebec 1855, stampless folded cover with paid Quebec LC and ½ paid at Quebec paying ½ drop letter rate. Rare and exhibit piece. $600.00 Item 236-05 Albino stationery envelope George V albino embossed stamp impression (no ink) stationery envelope. Nice clean. $85.00

Item 236-06 Unaddressed household c1900, ½ Numeral tied by grid cancel from Toronto on Rubber Co. cover paying ½ printed matter rate to local unaddressed householder. $275.00 Item 236-07 College stamp c1930, 2 school postage business practice cinderella or label (also called college postage) on unaddressed cover. From a new find. Some other covers have New Carlisle Quebec c/c addressed to the US. School stamps were used to teach students the proper way to prepare business correspondence. Pretty!!! $50.00

Item 236-13 Picton Ont squared circle 1898, 1 Jubilee (3) tied by Picton Ont squared circle on cover to Three Rivers (b/s). $50.00 Item 236-14 Reston Manitoba view 1907, 2 Edward (booklet stamp) tied by grid cancel from Reston Man on private postcard showing town view with tracks and grain elevators (datelined Reston Man Feb 6, 1907) to Quebec. The card is addressed to Mille Isles Que and redirected to Lachute with transit postmarks b/s. Lovely! $85.00

Item 236-15 12 Cigarette cards - The Monarchy's popularity in the first half of the 20th century was spotted by the tobacco companies. Cigarette cards celebrating coronations, ceremonial clothes and the history of the monarchy were used to entice Royalists. Here is a group of 12 cards (eight being Edward VII) in great condition. $60.00

Nice bird illustrated cover. $20.00 Item 236-21 British American Hotel 1915, 2 Admiral (booklet stamp) tied by neat Windsor Ont International machine cancel on British American Hotel advertising cover to Hamilton. Neat! $25.00

Item 236-22 Before war tax was imposed 1915, 1 Admiral coil (crease) tied by Winnipeg Man machine on censored Field Service Postcard (APO RX 23 Feb 15 1915 Cdn Div Railhead) to Winnipeg paying 1 rate before the imposition of a War Tax on 15 April 1915. From the time Canadian Forces reached France and Belgium until the rate increase only a few months had passed, from late 1914 until mid-april 1915, postcards from the front with 1 stamps applied in Canada are very scarce. $100.00 SOLD Item 236-23 Travelling letter box 1938, 3 Mufti tied by Toronto machine cancel on Guelph King Edward Hotel cover carried by travelling letter box to Toronto. $30.00 SOLD

NOT PAID FOR AIR MAIL. $20.00 SOLD Item 236-28 RCAF airmail special delivery 1942, 16 airmail special delivery tied by Moncton AMF cds on censored cover to a Military hospital in Virginia, USA. This is a nice CE1 usage in period, censored, military related and reverse with RCAF crest, AMF postmark etc. Very cool. $45.00 SOLD

Roughly opened both sides. $30.00 Item 236-34 Registered money packet 1925, 1, 5 (2), 20, 50 Admiral tied by large oval registered handstamp from Castor Alberta on cover (large tear visible from the scan) paying 81 registered money packet rate to Calgary. (14 times the rate, 16 for 1 st oz and 5 each added oz). Despite the large tear, it is a very nice item. $50.00 SOLD

The 1 wartax was imposed on the surface and airmail letter rates on April 1 1943. The 4 dark carmine of the War Issue was issued on April 9, 1943. Yes, the 4 Grain Elevators was already issued. Interesting anyway. $30.00
