Leadership & Supervision Camp leadership and supervision will be provided in the following ways: 1. trained Camp and Program Directors have designed the camp schedule and its program. 2. Instructors in each of the program areas have expertise in that area and have received proper training. 3. Instructors will be assisted by Boy Scouts or adults who have been trained to teach Cub Scout and Webelos Scout skills. 4. Certified First Aid staff will be on duty at all times during the operation of camp. 5. PACKS PROVIDE TWO ADULT WALKERS FOR EVERY EIGHT BOYS ATTENDING CAMP FROM THEIR PACK NOT INCLUDING TIGER CUBS. TIGER CUBS MUST HAVE AN ADULT TIGER PARTNER WITH THEM AT ALL TIMES. PARENTS WILL HAVE FUN TOO! 6. There is NO smoking or drinking allowed at camp. The Camp Director will advise adult supervisors each day during the opening ceremony. As hard as we try to keep parents with their son s group, it is sometimes necessary to make changes to provide adequate supervision for all groups. Each Pack is expected to send 1 Staff member per day to serve at camp. Please volunteer. It s easy and fun! Special Needs In the operation of the Day Camp, no child will be discriminated against because of race, color, creed, sex, national religion, handicap or the ability to pay for camp. Special accommodations will be made for any boy with a special need. Please indicate on the Health and Safety Form any considerations that need to be made for the Scout by the camp staff in the program so it can be altered for the scout and yet provide a minimum amount of disruption in the session. If there is a family that is in need of financial assistance, the Blackhawk Area Council provides Campership Forms. The family will fill out the Campership Form and return to the Council Office in Rockford as soon as possible so the Scout can be checked for eligibility for the program. In the past, this program has been very successful for the camp in getting those Scouts with economic restriction to camp. In either of these cases, please feel free to call the Day Camp Director or the Day Camp Program Director with any questions or concerns you may have. Health & Safety Health Forms A health form is required for ALL youth and adults that are participating at camp. Please fill out the form completely. If the Scout or an adult has ANY allergies (food, environment, etc ) please check the box at the top of the form and list the allergies on the back. Be sure to fill out the portion of the form that notifies the Camp Staff if any medication will be brought to camp. If the medication requires refrigeration, a refrigerator will be available to store the medication while at camp. Medications ALL medications that are required for any Scout will be collected each morning at the morning opening ceremony. The medication must be in the ORIGINAL PRESCIPTION CONTAINER with the DIRECTIONS clearly printed on it. Please make sure that the Scout has enough medication that is required for 1 (one) day s dosage only. The remaining medication or empty container will be returned to the Scout at the closing

ceremony so he will be able to return with it the next day. The medication will be retained by the Medical Officer throughout the day, with the exception of PERSONAL INHALERS AND EPIPENS. The scout MUST notify the Medical Officer, Den Walkers and his buddy that he has medication with him. Day Camp Uniform The Day Camp uniform will consist of the Day Camp t-shirt and either short or long pants. Each boy must wear this uniform or his Scout uniform shirt each day of camp. This will allow our staff to quickly identify at a glance children who are not campers. Please adhere to this request for each boy s safety. THIS CAMP CONTAINS POISON IVY; LONG PANTS, SOCKS AND TENNIS SHOES ARE REQUESTED. IF A SCOUT DOES NOT HAVE SOCKS AND TENNIS SHOES THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE. Other Stuff to Bring, a.k.a. HATS AND COMFORTABLE SHOES are MANDITORY while at camp. No sandals or opened toes shoes will be allowed at camp. Your safety is our first priority. New shoes are also not a good thing to have at camp since they won t be broken in fully and may hurt your feet. Hats are required to protect you from sun and any critters that are at Camp with you. CAMERA to document your fun while at camp is a great item to have. The disposables that are available are great and fairly inexpensive. Please leave any expensive cameras at home as they have a tendency to become broken or in some cases take hikes on their own. MEDICATION WATER BOTTLE SUNSCREEN BUG SPRAY COOPERATION This is a big item. So many things can go real smooth with a little thought and pre-planning on the part of the Pack and its members. PLEASE MARK ALL ITEMS BROUGHT TO CAMP WITH THE SCOUT S NAME AND PACK NUMBER

If unwelcomed weather leads to sever weather warnings, Scouts will go to the Dining Hall. Emergency procedures can be found in each den bag that the Den Walkers will have. During camp day, a weather radio will be monitored by camp staff at all times for any changes in the weather. Parents can be a big help by seeing that the Scout is dressed appropriately for the day s weather. The goal of the White Eagle District Day Camp and for the Cub Scout Day Camp program is for each boy to have an exciting and memorable time, no matter what the weather is. This can t be done without the help of the parents or guardians of the White Eagle District. Lost and Found Items that are found at camp while the boys are there will be available for claiming at the closing ceremonies. Items that are not claimed will be taken to the September Roundtable, after that they will be taken to Blackhawk Area Council following the September Roundtable. Please mark all items with the Scout s name and Pack number. Transportation Transportation of the Scout to and from camp is the responsibility of the Pack and families. Keeping to the required two-deep rule of leadership, if the Packs are organizing transportation EVERYONE should be aware when and where the Scout is to be dropped off and picked-up. In this time of high fuel cost, carpooling is highly encouraged. On the health form, please indicate who the child can be released to if other than parent or guardian or by the Pack carpooling. Please send a note with the Scout to camp as to who is responsible for taking the Scout home. Safety Rules For the safety of all campers and staff, the following rules will be strictly enforced: If you can t take it to school, don t bring it to camp! No swearing, foul or offensive language. Bullying of any kind will NOT be tolerated at camp. Buddy System We will be using the Buddy System at camp at all times. The boys are to stay with their assigned camp den during the entire week. No Knives are allowed at camp ever. Running, rock throwing, and tree climbing is prohibited.

If things aren t working out, please tell a Camp Staff or adult. Please don t take matters into your own hands. Tiger Cubs Boys who will begin their Scouting career in the fall of 2016 as Tiger Cubs are most welcome to join us at camp. For some of these boys, this may be their first exposure to Scouting so we want to make it the best time for them. Packs need to remember that when registering a Tiger Cub that he MUST have an adult Tiger Cub Partner. This is required through the whole first year and at all times while at camp. Tiger Cubs are eligible to participate in BB Gun and archery. Kiddie Korral Sitter service for the siblings of the Cub Scouts will be provided for parents that work on staff or are den walkers. Additional Supplies that may be required for Webelos Overnighter Some of the required items or items that are hard to come by could be obtained from your local Boy Scout Troops or by arranging with other Packs to bring a few items so everybody doesn t have to. MEALS Please bring your own plates and eating utensils as they will NOT be provided. Saturday breakfast will be heat and serve pancakes and sausage so please come prepared with necessary equipment. You provide your own Friday night meal so please come prepared if you plan to cook. TENTS Your Troop may be able to help you with this or maybe other members of your Pack have extra ones. WAGONS This item is required to help you transport your supplies from your vehicle to and from your campsite rather than you having to carry your supplies**.
