If we want our Club to grow we must keep vocational service in the forefront in planning all our activity. Vocational Service applies Rotary s concept of service to business, the profession and the workplace reflecting on the daily relations with the employees, suppliers and peers in keeping with the principles of THE FOUR-WAY TEST Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOOD WILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENFICIAL to all concerned? Vocational Service focuses on Adherence to and promotion of the highest ethical standards in all occupation, including fair treatment of employers, employees, associates, competitors and the public; The recognition of the worthiness of all occupations, not just those that are pursued by Rotarians. The contribution of your vocational talents to solving the problems of society and meeting the needs of the community. During the Vocational Service Month, the Rotary Club of Dhaka devotes on meetings to examine the Second Avenue of Service, including THE FOUR WAY TEST and The Declaration of Rotarians in Business and Professions, to expand members awareness and cooperation in planning events and programs for rest of the year. Mini-classification talk series are organized when members, especially new members, are invited to make a presentation on their vocation. The Club organizes Vocational award presentation to someone in the community (irrespective of position) who has outstanding professional achievement while maintain very high ethical standards. The Club also promotes presentation within the community, organize fellowship gatherings, etc. Future projects may focus on character building, providing career information to youth, organizing vocational training programs for new skills, mentoring small businesses in keeping with the Rotary theme (2015-16) Be a gift to the world Rtn PP Khandker Badrul Hasan, PHF Editor

MINUTES OF THE REGULAR WEEKLY MEETING OF ROTARY CLUB OF DHAKA HELD AT 5.30 PM AT PAN PACIFIC SONARGAON HOTEL, DHAKA ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 05, 2016 The first Regular weekly meeting of the year 2016 held on January 05, 2016 at 5:30 pm in Pan Pacific Sonargoan, Dhaka with President Rtn. Nasimul Hoq Majumder PHF in the chair and Joint Secretary Rtn. Mamun Akbar PHF acted as the acting Secretary in absence of Secretary Rtn. Shafayat Ullah PHF. The President called the meeting to order at 5:30 pm and at his request Rtn. PN Jawaherul Ghani led the invocation. Rtn. PP Bayezidur Rahamn MPHF read the birthdays and wedding anniversaries of the members and greeted them with applause. Rtn Mahmud Hasan, when requested by the President, updated briefly about Rotary Children Art Competition. Club President introduced the guest speaker Prof. Dr. Khan Mahud Amanat who is the professor of Dept. of civil engineer, BUET ant he spoke on Repair of cracks on the deck of Bangabandhu Bridge Rtn PE S M Anwar Hossain MPHF offered a formal vote of thanks to the guest speaker and Rtn PP Capt Mohd Khaliquzzaman and Rtn PP Khandker Badrul Hasan handed over a Crest of appreciation from RCD to the guest speaker. A short break was given for Maghreb prayers and fellowship. After the break president updated the members about the winter cloth distribution at Dewanganj, Jamalpur by Rtn Jalalul Azim. The President later invited the guest speaker Prof Dr Khan Mahmud Amanat to the head table. Rtn PP Rafiqul Islam Rowly, at the request of the President, updated the house about prosthatic hand installation project. He mentioned that this time 8 prosthatic hands was installed to selected patients. He also informed that the unused fund from women health project will be used in prosthatic leg project. Acting secretary Rtn Mamun Akbar PHF informed that the next regular weekly meeting would be held on next Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 5:30 pm in Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon, Dhaka. The minutes were confirmed by the members and Statistics were given by the Sgt At Arms Rtn Mahmud Hasan. At the request of the president Rtn. S M Anwar Hossain updated about natural Disaster Awareness Program to be held in T&T Adarshaw Girls School, at Mohakhali Wireless compound, Dhaka on January 10, 2016 at 10:30 am. President welcomed his guest Mr. Abu Syed Joddar and Mr. Siam Al-din Malik guest of Rtn PP TIM Nurul Kabir PHS, B. President thanked all members for their lively presence and welcomed all by wishing for the New Year 2016 and invited to attend Regular weekly meetings, Sponsor and participate RCD projects and to be registered in rotary.org / my Rotary AEAP. BRIEF LIFE-SKETCH OF THE GUEST SPEAKER Mr. A S M Mahbubul Alam Additional Secretary Ministry of Information Government of Bangladesh Mr. A S M Mahbubul Alam is working as Additional Secretary to the Government in the Ministry of Information. Before this, he worked as Joint Secretary (Committee Support), in the Parliamentary Secretariat. He had the rare opportunity to serve the parliamentary standing committees as Committee Secretary and contributed to the improvement of parliamentary support system. Mr. Mahbubul Alam joined the Bangladesh Civil Service (Administration) in January, 1986 after obtaining an MA in Sociology from the University of Chittagong. Later on, he obtained M Sc in Public Economic Management and Finance from the University of Birmingham, United Kingdom. During his long thirty years career, he worked in many important positions in the field administration and the ministries including Upazila Magistrate, Upazila Nirbahee Officer, Senior Assistant Secretary (Ministry of Home Affairs), Deputy Secretary (Ministry of Finance) and Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj district. Mr. Mahbub received all the important training for civil servants and participated in many international workshop/seminars at home and abroad. He visited many countries including the United States of America, United Kingdom, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Italy, Greece, Australia, India, Philippines, China, Vietnam and South Korea. Born in 1959 in the village of Noapara under Nangalkote Upazila of Comilla district, Mr. Mahbub is blessed with two daughters. January 10, 2016: First Disaster Awareness program was implemented in T&T Adarshaw Girls School, Mohakhali Wireless. Head Mistress Mrs Ferdousi Sultana, Project Chair Rtn PE S M Anwar Hossain, Rtn Mahmud Hasan, Trainer Mr Ferdous, Mr Zakir Hossain and President started the program with multimedia presentation and Leaflets which played a significant role. B. January 15, 2016: Third distribution of Blankets will be held in Shoulmari Shaheen House and Fulbari Momen house, Rowmari, Kurigram. Total 300 blankets will be distributed. C. January 16, 2016 (1000 14.00 hrs): Specialized Skin Care Project will held. A Doctor specialized in Skin & VD will give treatments and medicines to the underprivileged peoples in RCDU Mohakhali. You are requested to book the patients and collect the coupon from Office Executive Md Zakir Hossain. These camps will run under the MoU of RCD-MEDRX.
