CONVENORS INVITATION INVITED INTERNATIONAL SPEAKER On behalf of the Faculty of Pain Medicine and the organising committee of the 2016 Spring Meeting, we would like to invite you to historic Hahndorf for this inspiring three day event. INVITED SPEAKERS This year, the theme Managing pain in the workplace will examine the complex issues accompanying pain management and rehabilitation in the setting of occupational injury. Rising above the valleys in the picturesque Mount Lofty Ranges, the meeting will be held at the Adelaide Hills Convention Centre from September 16-18. Associate Professor David Cherry We welcome keynote international speaker, Dr Gary Franklin from Seattle, US. Complementing the international visitor will be a range of Australasian speakers from a range of medical specialties including neurosurgery, neurology, rheumatology, occupational medicine and psychiatry. Dr Dilip Kapur, Convenor Dr John Baranoff Ms Michelle Carse Dr Peter Crowley Ms Sarah Curran Dr Gary Franklin Dr Franklin is the Medical Director of the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, and a Research Professor in the Departments of Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences, Neurology, and Health Services at the University of Washington. As the Chair of the Washington State Agency Medical Director s Group, he has led the effort in the state and nationally to reverse the epidemic of morbidity and mortality related to use of opioids for chronic pain. He has produced ground-breaking research on the risk factors related to the development of long-term disability in workers compensation, and has led the effort in Washington State to develop community based innovations in healthcare delivery with a focus on disability prevention. Dr Franklin has also been a state and national leader on the development of evidence-based guidelines and health technology assessments. He has published more than 160 original studies in peerreviewed journals.
