OVERVIEW TO GLASS The first documented glass making was around 3000 years ago in Egypt and was first used as a glaze for pottery and other items. From a physical viewpoint, glass is an undercooled liquid. At room temperature, glass is solid, at approximately 1,000 C it is formable and at temperatures of between 1,400 C and 1,650 C it melts. Glass has many positive and practical properties which lead to its very many uses. Common glass is made mostly from quartz sand, and this functional and necessary material is used in everyday life such as watches, glasses and many other frequently used objects. Without glass the world would be a dark place without even a light bulb to light a room. TEMPERED GLASS Tempered glass is manufactured through a process of extreme heating and rapid cooling, making it harder than normal glass. It is four to five times more resistant against breakage than unprocessed glass and does not shatter into sharp shards when it breaks into pieces. This eliminates the danger of sharp edges. Due to this property, along with its strength, tempered glass is often referred to as safety glass. LAMINATED GLASS Laminated glass consists of 2 or more glass layers combined through the application of heat and pressure with the placement of a hard protective substance called polyvinyl butyral (PVB) in between. This glass is the kind of glass that does not fall into pieces when smashed. DOUBLE GLAZING Double Glazing is an insulated glass unit formed through the combination of two or more glass plates within factory conditions in such a way as to contain dry air or gases in between to reduce sound and heat transfer.

This clean cut Hanging System does not have any rail on the floor. This frameless option is widely used on both new and classic buildings and adds a touch of modern design compatible with any style. It is an ingenious form of glass fencing that can either be installed directly into the ground giving the appearance of the glass coming straight up from the earth or into a metal rail that runs along the bottom of the pane of glass. Model 1 Reflecting its name, the Spider System has a number of metal arms, at the end of each being a special screw which attaches to the sheets of glass. A special connection system which holds the panes of glass, is powerful enough to overcome mechanical pressure and weather conditions.
