Self-Catering at Magdalen Farmhouse Set in the heart of Magdalen Farm the newly renovated farmhouse has been adapted to accommodate up to 14 people. Rebuilt in the 1890 s as the main residence for the farm the house retains all the old features including ray burn in the kitchen, open fire in the dining room and log burner in the lounge with extensive gardens outside. The farm is ideally located for touring the south west with access to many footpaths and cycle routes across the stunning countryside. Fishing on our own stretch of the River Axe is available by arrangement. The farm is certified organic with the Soil Association and we aim to provide all the food we offer from our own gardens, orchards and farm. The coastal town of Lyme Regis is a 15 minute drive from the farm and opens out onto the dramatic Jurassic Coast with fossil hunting at Charmouth a short drive further. Within a short distance of the farm is the fabulous house, gardens and grounds of Forde Abbey. The local market towns of Chard, Crewkerne, Beaminster and Bridport are all within a short driving distance all with good facilities including supermarkets, leisure facilities and the unique West Country Farmers Markets. Accommodation The farmhouse is set around mature gardens with a sunny south facing courtyard and grassed spaces for games (please note that there is a duck pond to one side of the house). The house is centrally heated with wood available for the fires. The ground floor comprises a large open plan kitchen with rayburn and electric cooker and is complete with all the equipment you need to prepare a tasty roast dinner including cutlery, crockery, glasses and cookware. At the centre of the kitchen is a traditional oak table with chairs and bench ideal for informal dining. Food from the farm can be pre-ordered with options of meat, vegetables and eggs available according to the season.
Large Farmhouse Kitchen Beyond the kitchen is the boot room with lots of space for wellington boots and wet weather gear as well as a toilet and washbasin. Also on the ground floor is the dining room which has formal seating for 10 people, an old piano and open fire as well as a comfortable lounge with 3 sofas, large floor cushions, wood burner and TV. A laptop and projector can be arranged with a screen for movie displays. Dining Room Lounge The first of the bedrooms is located on this level ideal for those with limited mobility or requiring additional space. This bedroom has a double and a single bed and is directly accessible to a large shower room fitted with a Doc M pack suite suitable for disabled, elderly or inform guests. A further shower is also available. Upstairs are 5 bedrooms all with new pine furnishings and named after birds that visit the farm. There are a variety of single beds and bunk beds and each room has a chest of drawers, door hooks with hangers and mirrors. Linen & towels packs are available at an extra charge.
A further bathroom is available with bath, shower, toilet and wash basin.
Whilst mobile phone reception is intermittent on the farm, Wi-Fi access is available. No smoking is permitted in the farmhouse however, designated smoking areas are available. As a working farm we are unable to accept pets but our neighbour has dog kennel facilities, please ask for further details. Outside Generous car parking is available on-site along a short pathway to the centre. Disabled parking is available next to the farmhouse. A Cob Pizza Oven, located in the centre courtyard next to the farmhouse, can be booked for your use during your stay and is surrounded by several picnic tables. A fire pit is also available (firewood at additional charge) Courtyard to the main centre Cob Pizza Oven During your stay you are welcome to walk around the farm and visit the farm animals, a formal walk and talk can be pre arranged with a member of the Magdalen farm team (charges apply). As a selfcatering group we will advise you on arrival of the areas of the farm that you are welcome to visit. View across the fields Our friendly goats in the Dutch Barn Free range Chickens Location Magdalen is signposted off B3162 between Drimpton and Winsham, near the B3165 between Crewkerne and Lyme Regis. We are approximately 4 miles from Crewkerne and 5 miles from Chard. Crewkerne Station is linked to London Waterloo by South West Trains and is approximately 15 minutes taxi ride to the centre. The No 99 First Bus stops at the end of the driveway and links Chard and Crewkerne. The nearest small shop/post office is located in Winsham, 1 mile from the centre. Maps for walking can be provided. Winsham is also the home to The Bell Inn or even closer to the centre is The Squirrel Inn which is less than 1 mile from Magdalen.

Bookings are confirmed on receipt of a signed booking form and payment of 1/3 rd deposit. The outstanding balance for your stay is required 1 month before your visit along with a 500 refundable damage deposit.
