We are situated along the C200 between Falstone and Kielder village in our 40 acre woodland site Details on public transport can be found at http://www.visitkielder.com/visiting-kielder-water-and-forestpark/how-to-get-here There are five lodges located on the level close to the main centre and five located up a hill from the main centre which you can access by car We advise that the path between chalet 8 and 9 may not be suitable for unaccompanied wheelchairs. We can also take payment via credit or debit card (for a small charge), cheque, BACS or postal order Approach and Car Parking The speed limit is 10mph around the site. There are two speed bumps along the main drive way to Reception. On approach to the entrance to Reception there are large planters and picnic tables located in the court yard which is level entry The entrance has automatic electric doors with glass awareness stripes across them The Reception area has linoleum flooring which can be slippery when wet There is good contrast between the walls, floors and doors. Reception has a desk accessible for wheelchairs which has a bell located on it to get the office staff attention. Description of each room The lodges are completely no smoking areas and have a ramp to the front door or are level entry. Every lodge has an information point with an extensive range of information on the local visitor attractions. The lounge and dining room area are spacious with TV, DVD player, stereo system with I pod docking station. Each lodge are fitted with smoke alarms. There is good contrast between the walls, floors and doors. Kitchen The kitchens are spacious and have a bench which is height adjustable. They are fully equipped with microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher, oven and fridge freezer. We provide oven gloves and tea towel and a small selection of dishwasher tablets. Bedroom In specific lodges, one room is en suite and they all have level entry showers.
We have three bedrooms in each lodge most of them a twin rooms, and in specific lodges one room has a double bed. Bathroom Each lodge has two bathrooms which are all level entry access. They have a bath hoist, shower chair, grab rails and height adjustable sinks. In specific lodges the ceiling tracking hoists go into the bathroom. Hydrotherapy Pool & Sauna The pool is locked when not in use and the key is available to guests at Reception. A minimum of two people are expected to be in the pool at any one time and a maximum number of 10 and they must be supervised by a responsible adult. The door opens easily inwards. There is a toilet and shower room and separate shower room with grab rails on one side. There are two changing rooms with wheelchair access. There is a height adjustable changing bed and a chair hoist to allow safe transfer into the pool. The bed can also be attached to the hoist for entry to the pool. A hoist is available on request to transfer onto the chair hoist if required. There are 6 steps into the pool with rails either side of them. There are 3 different levels in the pool. The pool is a maximum of 4.8 feet deep and diving is not permitted. It is a hydrotherapy pool so the temperature averages at over 30 degrees. There is a seating area available for watchers. There is no lifeguard service. There is a pull down baby changing bed
There is an emergency call push button which will alert Reception if guests require assistance. The sauna tokens are available from Reception each lasting 15 minutes. The token box is located by the right hand side door entering the pool. The sauna is infra red and is able to fit a wheelchair in it as it has double doors which allow wheelchairs to access it. Grounds We are situated in 40 acres of woodland. There is a steep slope path up to some of the lodges which may not be suitable for unaccompanied wheelchairs. However, you can access the centre by car The paths around the centre and lodges are even ground. Most of the walks are uneven ground and you must be aware of traffic e.g. occasional Forestry Commission. We have a garden at the front of Reception and the back of the centre with picnic tables. We have on site activities which are available accompanied by an activity member of staff. There is a play area located near lodges 8 and 9 available for under 7 year olds to use. Outdoor lighting is good around the centre and lodges, some people may prefer to carry a torch with them if they are walking during the evening.
