ASOCIACION DOMINICANA DE EXBECARIOS DEL JAPON FUNDADA EL 25 DE OCTUBRE DEL 1982 Activities JFY 2010 1. Second Participatory Planning Workshop: Planning of the activities of ADEJA to be run by its alumni in different programs and places of the country. Results: Proposals received 10 activities, all developed. Participants: 16 attendees, including members of ADEJA. 2. Bulletin 2010 newsletter: Report of activities carried out through the newsletter until that time. Copies: 300 prints.

3. National Cervical Cancer Program (RED CACU): Training of doctors and nurses in the improvement of decision-making of the Gynecologic medical sample hospitals in Santo Domingo and Samaná. Participants: Trained approximately 326 medical interns and students of Gynecology. 4. Juncalito Training Ecotourism Network: Exchange of experiences of the community of Juncalito, Santigo, Dominican Republic. Where the issue of collaboration in the development of the community which also gave to the initial and subsequent report of the programme of the fellows that completed and may be pursuing the specialising in ecotourism in Okinawa was planned. Participation: The authorities of Juncalito, TURISOPP, alumni, JICA officials, members of ADEJA, among others.

5. Training in Craftsmanship (Doll without a face): Training human resources in crafts. Activity undertaken in the Higuerito, Moca, Dominican Republic, with the aim of obtaining a better finished product and that can be exported. Because it includes the manufacture of dolls without faces, which represent all women, without distinction, color or origin. Results: Two complete and scheduled courses. Participants: 25 participants, many very young 6. Second Organic Agriculture Training Course: Workshop methodologies of extension of the techniques on organic agriculture in support to small-scale farmers. Duration: 3 days. Participants: 20 people from different institutions in the country. Results: Programming carried out and completed. Diplomas of participation were awarded.

7. Update and relaunch Web page of the Association: Activities, news, Forum, opinions, links, directories, E-mails and general information 8. Congress of Ex Alumni and Election Assembly: This event was held at UCATECI in La Vega, Dominican Republic. Activities like: a) Electionary Assembly, which were presented two plates, b) Recognition to the founding member of the Association, c) Recognition of the effort of different chapters in the year, Christmas party and Memory of the directive 2008-2010. Results: Two plates presented, one turned out winning, strengthened partnership with the integration of members participating in activities of the Association for the first time, met the statutes of ADEJA. Participation: 90 Active members of ADEJA and also some JICA s Staff.

9. Meeting with a Consultant from JICA-Tokyo The aim was to present the work carried out by the Association of Ex Alumni, ADEJA to the consulting firm of Tokyo, who was interviewing the directive in order to get to know the impact of the Association and its importance in terms of the work did by the Alumni once they return to the country. Meeting held on January 27, 2011. Hour 3: 00 p.m. Place JICA s office, Santo Domingo. Results: Presentations of the work done by ADEJA and the follow-up given to the alumni. Participants: 4 members of ADEJA, 1 from JICA, 1 from Tokyo and a translator. 10. Participatory Planning Workshop: Aim was to plan with all the members of ADEJA the most important activities and budget for the year 2011. Results: Were planned 21 activities and approved by JICA at Tokyo 18 activities. Participants: A total of 18 members.

11. Formation of a Network of Ex Alumni in Sustainable Tourism in the Northern Part of the Dominican Republic: In a montain, will welcome the meeting that formed the network of alumni of sustainable tourism in Puerto Plata and the entire North of the country. It was also presented the TURISOPP project in Puerto Plata and the beautiful job they ve done. Participants: Attended by 17 members of ADEJA. 12. Participation and support in exhibition of dolls and Japanese Calendar. The objective was to promote Japanese culture in the country. Activity carried out by the Embassy of the Japan in the Dominican Republic and attended by hundreds of people in different parts where the exhibition of dolls and Japanese calendars took place. ADEJA was coordinator of the activity undertaken at the Universidad Católica Tecnológica del Cibao, UCATECI, La Vega.

13. Judo Exhibition (Martial arts) This activity was carried out by the Embassy of Japan in the Dominican Republic. ADEJA participated as a guest and cooperated with the Organization of the event. Results: 37 trained people. Participants: 103 between young people and children. 14. International Seminar in Building Earthquake - resistance (Taishin Method): This activity was coordinated by ADEJA, through the Central American and the Caribbean Federation FECCBEJA, to cooperate with the Haitians after the earthquake of high magnitude that struck that Caribbean nation. The instructors were from El Salvador who are practicing the Taishin method. The event was held at Universidad Católica Tecnológica del Cibao, UCATECI, La Vega, Dom. Republic, in its first phase. The second phase was held at Universidad Autonma de Santo Domingo, UASD. Results: were trained Haitian and Dominican students in the area of Civil Engineering and architecture. Participants: UCATECI university 120 students (43 Haitians and 67 Dominicans) and at UASD university 113 students, including Government workers and University authorities.

15. Promotion of communication, education, awareness and participation of the community on wetlands problems of Oviedo: Participation of the communities of Oviedo in the activities of awareness on the protection of wetlands in the province of Oviedo in Dominican Republic, through tours of observation, lectures, and so on. Results: Guides trained in observation, hiking, and protection of wetlands in the area. Participants: 15 people 16. Promotion of communication, education, awareness and participation of the community about Lake of Azuei in Haiti. Participation and awareness of the communities in the activities on the protection of wetlands in Lake of Azuei in Haiti, Dominican border, through tours of observation, lectures, etc. Results: Guides trained in observation, hiking, and protection of wetlands in the area. Participants: 15 people.
