Synthetic-insulated outerwear Less is more with REI s new Synthetic options This season REI shines a light on developments in outerwear specifically, the emerging interest in synthetic insulation. Leveraging new technologies, such as PrimaLoft Eco insulation and Polartec Power Shield Pro fabric, REI is introducing two new jackets to its fall lineup. This duo joins REI s Revelcloud Jackets and Vest launched in Spring 2011 to round out the selection of go-light synthetic-insulated options. Advances in technology increase the appeal of synthetic insulation versus traditional fleece and down. Spruce Run Salix Spruce Run (M) & Nevis (W) The ultimate temperature control system, these jackets have sleeves and hoods that zip off, compress and store in a back pouch. PrimaLoft Eco insulation keeps the jackets light, warm and wafer thin. Salix (M & W) Topped with technical features, the Salix has all the lightweight warmth of PrimaLoft Eco insulation, plus it s waterproof. Synthetic-insulated outerwear The technical edge Advancements in synthetics boost the comfort efficiency in REI outerwear designs. Here are some key technologies we ve incorporated for increased warmth and comfort in town, on the slopes and in the backcountry: Primaloft Eco Primaloft Eco An eco-friendly insulation combining 50% recycled material with PrimaLoft virgin fibers to create high loft, low weight, breathability and thermal efficiency. Pertex Microlight The softest and lightest fabric offered by Pertex. Tightly woven for strength, the water-repellent fabric pairs nicely with PrimaLoft Eco insulation in the Spruce Run and Nevis. Polartec Power shield Pro Polartec Power Shield Pro A single-layer soft-shell fabric that breathes well, insulates, blocks wind and repels rain. The durable fabric also stretches for increased comfort. REI s new Centre Peak jacket features the newest version.

It s extremely warm, yet featherlight, with a soft, silky hand. PrimaLoft Eco insulation gives it its efficient, lightweight warmth.
