Minutes January 3 2016 Recreation Board Meeting Present were chairman Corey Bartlett, Tom Brown, Tom Roberts and Jim Van Dyne Chairman Corey Bartlett opened the meeting at 7:35 pm. Tom Roberts motioned acceptance of the minutes of the December 6 meeting, Tom Brown seconded the motion. Minutes were accepted unanimously. Mr. Bartlett said that the school board had appointed Kelley Majczyk as a representative to replace Rick Hess. Mr. Bartlett opened the reorganization of the Recreation Board asking for nominations for chairman. Tom Brown and Tom Roberts declined to run or motion a new chairman, Jim Van Dyne moved the nomination of himself, Mr. Bartlett seconded the nomination. In the absence of any other nomination, Mr. Van Dyne was elected by unanimous assent. Mr. Van Dyne noted that no other recreation board member was willing to act as recording secretary and offered to continue to serve as secretary. Tom Roberts so moved, Tom Brown seconded, Mr. Bartlett agreed and the motion was unanimous. As the 2016 meeting calendar was agreed upon in December, and our commissioner was not present to help with the planning, there was no other business at hand. Corey Bartlett moved adjournment, Tom Brown seconded and the vote was unanimous to end the meeting at 7:43. Next meeting is March 6 at 7:30 pm.

Minutes March 6, 2016 Recreation Board Meeting Chairman Jim Van Dyne called the meeting to order at 7:34 pm. Also present were Sarah Weismiller, councilman; Riley Weismiller, student school board appointee; Kelley Majczyk, school board appointee; Al Gesler and Tom Roberts, Township appointees. Mr. Roberts reported that Mr. Brown is working second shift again. Mr. Roberts moved the minutes of the January Meeting be accepted, Ms. Majezyk seconded and minutes were accepted unanimously. Planning for 2016 Park Program; Sarah Weismiller said she intends to begin to interview park workers soon, she said two or three already asked to return. It was determined that the Parks will open June 13 th and close August 12 th. It was noted that after mid-august, the college staff usually has to return to school and the high school staff are not ready for the responsibility. Ms. Weismiller decided to begin the summer with a dance on June 17 th. The second dance is usually July 3 rd and Ms. Weismiller agreed to have a dance on that date. The third dance was set for park closing on August 12 th with a color dance being the theme. As the board again has a student, Mr. Van Dyne asked Mr. Weismiller if he had any insight into feelings of the younger kids about the dances and he said that themes seem to be needed to get the kids out and that the color dance was a real big hit and will be again if we have it this year. He said he himself bought special day-glo clothes for a glow dance at school. Ms. Majeczyk suggested that the June dance be a glow dance to get the kids excited about the program. Ms. Weismiller suggested that there be a patriotic theme to the July dance. Mr. Van Dyne said numerous people complain that the Gazebo concerts conflict with Harborcreek s Whitford Park concerts. Ms. Weismiller said it had to be Wednesdays because Tuesday nights were occupied by Eight Great Tuesdays and Thursday nights were block parties in town. She said she would have the Township secretary have Harborcreek send over a schedule of their concerts so that we can alternate Wednesdays. Fourth of July parade was generally discussed. Mr. Van Dyne relayed the information that Jan Cabaday reported that the invitations have been sent to prospective parade participants and that she would again do the parade line-up plans. There was discussion about the sign for the fire trucks to silence their sirens while passing the nursing home worked last year. Mr. Van Dyne noted that the next meeting is April 3 rd at 7:30 pm. Mr. Roberts moved to adjourn, Ms. Majczyk seconded and on a unanimous vote, the meeting ended at 8:15 pm.

April 30, 2016 park walk-through Present: Corey Bartlett, Tom Roberts, Tom Brown, Al Gesler, Jim Van Dyne Boat Ramp Some Trash removal is needed and brush along the East border needs to be cut down, as usual for spring. Jim Van Dyne pointed out that sign uprights installed by the contractor who put in the trail did not put the uprights deep enough and they are all leaning. He said they are only in about six to eight inches. Lake Cliff Park It was noted that on the oldest remaining pieces of equipment, there remains a damaged tunnel which is about six feet off the ground that was slated for replacement two years ago and of which we had been informed that we had the replacement section in storage at the township garage but it still remains unrepaired. It was also noted that the mulch which was used as a cushioning material around the equipment is abundant this year. Board members noted that all picnic tables are intact and present and still chained to the facilities. There is no graffiti this year. Curtis Park Committee member noted the deterioration of the two storage sheds in this park but Mr. Bartlett also reflected that the sheds will be unnecessary once the renovation is complete. Landscape fabric is again showing beneath playground equipment and much needs to be replaced around most of the equipment due to erosion. No graffiti was seen which compared to prior years is quite a change. As in Lake Cliff Park, the picnic tables were all in place and show no signs of vandalism. Mr. Van Dyne noted that the vandalism seen this year is far less than previous years and Mr. Bartlett said vandalism goes in cycles. Mr. Van Dyne noted that the South side of the metal roof on the Curtis Park building needs repaired before weather related damage occurs. Recreation Board ended the tour after the review of Curtis Park.

Minutes August 7, 2016 Recreation Board Meeting Chairman Jim Van Dyne called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm. Also present were Tammy Benovic, councilman; Kelley Majczyk, school board appointee; Corey Bartlett, Tom Brown and Tom Roberts, Township appointees. Mr. Roberts moved the minutes of the March Meeting and the April walk through of the parks be accepted, Mr. Bartlett seconded and minutes were accepted unanimously. The Parade was discussed. Mr. Bartlett said he thought the parade went well. Mrs. Majczyk said the only complaints she heard were from the people who live South of Main Street in the Row House section and that was that they could not get in or out between 2 pm and sometime after 3 pm. Mr. Roberts noted that one fire unit failed to show and no one knew why. Mrs. Benovic said the letters would be sent again next year. Mrs. Benovic reported that the playground programs are running park Olympics which seems to be going over well and that movie night is planned for 8/19 in Lake Cliff. She said the movie Sand Lot is planned. Next meeting is the first Sunday in December. Mrs. Majczyk motioned adjournment. Tom Roberts seconded. The meeting adjourned on a unanimous vote at 8:12 pm.

Minutes December 4, 2016 Recreation Board Meeting Councilman Tammy Benovic called the meeting to order at 7:35 pm in the absence of Chairman Jim VanDyne. Also present were Corey Bartlett, Al Gesler and Tom Roberts, Township appointees. The minutes of the August Meeting were accepted unanimously. Mr. Van Dyne arrived late and took the chair of the meeting at 7:41. Corey Bartlett announced that he is resigning from the Recreation Board. Mrs. Benovic said the commissioners will have to replace him. Mrs. Benovic advised that the Gazebo in Beute Park is being decorated by different families who are each doing separate sections of the Gazebo in preparation for Santa s Christmas visit. Mrs. Benovic reported that competitive games will be run at the Park programs this coming summer for The Lawrence Park Cup at the end of the summer. There will actually be winners in each age group; the6th, 7 th and 8 th graders in one category, the 9 th through 11 th grade in another and the 1 st through 5 th grade as well. Al Gesler asked about the progress on the 4 th of July parade and Mrs. Benovic announced that the applications to be in the parade will be mailed the first of the year. Tom Roberts pointed out that the 4 th of July falls on Tuesday making the street dance for the weekend fall on Monday night. Mrs. Benovic announced plans for two movie nights with one earlier in the year. Mr. Van Dyne asked if that wouldn t make for a very late night as dusk comes so much later, early in the Summer but Mrs. Benovic said that Curtis Park because in the valley, she expects it to be dark enough to begin the movie early enough. Mrs. Benovic said that the school has been using an ice cream vendor at the basketball games and she intends to get them for the movie nights. Al Gesler asked about the final renovations at Curtis Park and Mrs. Benovic explained that the work at Teker Park was moved up and money was used to do that but now there may not be enough money left to complete all or the originally planned work. Some of the planned work is required and there is a question about the status of the carried-over funds from the original grants. The board planned its 2017 schedule; the next meeting is March, 2017, April is the park walk-through on the last Saturday at 9 am beginning at the boat ramp; June 4 th, the 4tj of July parade set-up the morning of the parade, August 6 th and December 3 rd. Tom Roberts motioned adjournment. Corey Bartlett seconded. The meeting adjourned on a unanimous vote at 8:45 pm.
