Journey to the Heart of Peru A Spiritual Healing Trip of a Lifetime June 30 July 17, 2011 Join us as we venture into a world of enchantment, guided by spirit and an open heart. We will visit sacred sites in Peru, including the Amazon Jungle, Colca Canyon, Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu. Held by Pachamama, our Mother Earth, we will experience unity with our extended family and return home more loving, wise, and courageous, and more inspired than ever before. This journey of spiritual awakening will be led by Reverend Angela Mandato LMT, NCTMB. Our trip will be expertly guided by Dr. Rubén Orellana, former head archaeologist of Machu Picchu. This trip will benefit the humanitarian efforts of the Heart Walk Foundation www.heartwalkfoundation.org and will be partially tax deductible.
Our Itinerary Thursday, June 30: Arrive in Lima. You will be greeted by one of Dr. Orellana s colleagues, Oscar Osores, who will escort you to the Hotel Maria Angola (www.hotelmariaangola.com). Check in and rest. For those arriving in the morning you will have a free day. Meals and activities for this day are not included in the trip price. Friday, July 1: After breakfast we will go to the airport and fly to Iquitos, in the northern Peruvian jungle. We will travel to the Port of Bellavista on the Nanay River. We will take a river boat to the Reservation of Yanamono and then check into the Heliconia Lodge, where we will stay for the next four nights. Each room has its own bathroom facilities. We will have time to rest or explore our surroundings before lunch. The group will reconvene for lunch and in the afternoon we will meet a local shaman. We will meet in the evening for dinner. (B-L-D) Saturday, July 2: After breakfast we will travel via river boat for our first encounter with the pink dolphins. We return to the lodge for lunch. After lunch we will have a guided two hour walk through the jungle and then rest. At 6 PM we will have a light soup so that we will be prepared for the Ayahuasca medicine plant ceremony* that evening. We will work with a local Ayahuasquero, a medicine man and shaman who facilitates Ayahuasca ceremonies. After the ceremony we will return to our lodge. Ceremony is optional. (B-L-Soup) Sunday, July 3: After breakfast we will return to the river to spend time with the pink dolphins. We return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon have another guided walk through the jungle. In the evening we will have dinner and a group gathering at the lodge. (B-L-D) Monday, July 4: After breakfast we will visit the local community of the Yaguas to learn about their customs. We will return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon we will swim with the pink dolphins again. In the evening we will have dinner at the lodge. (B-L-D) Tuesday, July 5: The group will gather early in the morning for a BAÑO DE FLORECIEMIENTO, a shower with flowers, and then have breakfast. At 9 AM we will return by boat to the city of Iquitos. We will have lunch, and in the afternoon we will tour the city and local markets. We will take a flight in the evening back to Lima. Hotel María Angola. ** (B-L) Wednesday, July 6: After breakfast we will fly to Arequipa and rest at our hotel. After lunch we will visit Santa Catalina's Monastery, enjoy the museum Sanctuary and tour the city. We ll spend the night in Arequipa. (B-L-D)
Thursday, July 7: After breakfast we will travel by bus to Colca Canyon, which is 62 miles from Arequipa. On the trip we will observe vicuñas, llamas and alpacas in a beautiful mountain landscape. We will arrive at Chivay and eat lunch. Later we ll travel to Hotel Colca Lodge, where we will enjoy dinner, rest and thermal waters at night. (B- L-D) Friday, July 8: When the Eagle and Condor fly together, we will have peace. We will leave the hotel early by bus to observe condors. We will visit the towns of Yunque and Chivay and return to Arqeuipa, for dinner. (B-L-D) Saturday, July 9: We will take an early morning flight to Cusco. From Cusco, we will take a bus to Urubamba, where we will rest and adjust to the altitude. After lunch we will have an offering ceremony to Pachamama, our Mother Earth, with Quero Pacos. Hosteria Illarimuy (www.illarimuy.com) (B-L) Sunday, July 10: After breakfast we will take a bus to the town of Ollantaytambo to take a morning train (vistadome) www.perurail.com to Machu Picchu. We will arrive at the town of Aguas Calientes at the base of Machu Picchu. After checking into our hotel we will have lunch. After lunch we will ascend the mountain to the Citadel of Machu Picchu (the Crystal City) for a guided tour by Dr. Orellana. We will return to the hotel in the evening and have dinner. After dinner we will go to Aguas Calientes, the hot thermal baths. We will have private use of the springs for Dr. Orellana to conduct a ceremony in the healing waters. We return to our hotel and rest. Tuesday, July 12: After breakfast we will visit the sacred site of Ollantaytambo. Lunch in Urubamba and an afternoon tour of Pisac. Return to Urubamba and visit Urco (the temple of the serpent). We will meet Oscar and visit the Larco Hoyle Museum. We will have lunch at Todo Peru and then have time for shopping before our flight home. Most USA flights leave around midnight. (B-L) Your Hosts Dr. Rubén Orellana Angela Mandato Born in Cusco, Rubén has been following the Andean shamanic path since the age of nine. Dr. Orellana has been an external consultant to the National Institute of Culture in Cusco, Peru and was Director of Andean Shamanic Journeys. Dr. Orellana s career as an archaeologist culminated with his being named the Head of Archaeology at Machu Picchu, where he discovered 44 new sites surrounding the Crystal City, including the North Inca Trail. For these discoveries, he appeared on the cover of Time Magazine in South America. He has done extensive research into the mystical aspects of many significant sites and uncovered the true usage of many of the temples in the Incan empire. He continues to combine his experience with his passion for his work and his deep love for all people. He facilitates groups from around the world at Illarimuy, a Hosteria and Healing Center located an hour outside of Cusco in the Sacred Valley of Peru.
