July 14, 2019 To the Virunga Mountains Departing from Kigali you will be welcomed by your expert guide who will provide knowledge and assistance throughout your safari. Your journey takes you through the beautiful terraced hills that characterize much of Rwanda's landscape. Climbing gradually to the base of the spectacular volcanoes of the Virunga range, the five nearest peaks rising high above the verdant countryside, you arrive at the magnificent Gorilla Mountain View Lodge. Meals L+D July 15, 2019 Gorillas in the Wild Early this morning, we take you to Ruhengeri, the main base for gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park. After an important briefing from park guides, you ll enter the park to begin this unforgettable adventure. There are four gorilla families habituated to human contact and their movements will determine the duration of today s trek. Starting at an altitude of 6,500 feet, you ll trek along densely forested slopes to catch up with your assigned gorilla family. After locating them, you ll have an amazing opportunity to spend about one hour watching quietly as the gorillas go about their daily routine.
