Via Alpina Beartrek Discover Switzerlands most impressive parts. When hiking on the Beartrek you travel a unique route that passes glaciers and spectacular passes. The route Via Alpina leads along the three most famous Swiss mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau through valleys and canyons to the well known ski-resort Adelboden- Lenk. Most likely you won t meet any bears on this tour but the route has its name from the time when only game could walk these paths. Today the trails are in a very good condition but still this tour is not an easy walk. During the course of your hike you reach peaks and summits where the spectacular beauty to the Swiss Alps rewards you for your efforts. Itinerary 1 st Day: Individual arrival to Meiringen Hotel (example): Cat. A: Alpine Sherpa, Cat. B: Bett & zmorge 2 nd Day: Meiringen Grindelwald The bus takes you to Rosenlaui where the first hike starts. You walk up to the Grosse Scheidegg from where you have a magnificent view to the mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. From here you continue to Grindelwald. B: Downtown Lodge 3 rd Day: Grindelwald Wengen/Lauterbrunnen The trail leads up to the Kleine Scheidegg.A sunny trail leads you towards the car-free resort Wengen. B: Victoria Lauberhorn 4 th Day: Lauterbrunnen Griesalp/Kiental Early in the morning the cable car brings you up to Mürren. In the early months of the summer there is often still snow on the Sefinenfurgge. You walk past a breathtaking Alpine scenery. Walking time: approx. 7 hours, approx. 22 km, +2000 m / -1400 m, Hotel (example): Hotel Waldrand 5 th Day: Griesalp/Kiental Kandersteg The ascent to the Blüemlisalp is the most spectacular leg on your hiking tour. After a long and step walk up to 2 843 meters you may enjoy an excellent meal at this Swiss mountain pasture. From here the trails lead on glacier moraines down to Lake Öschinen. Now Kandersteg is within short walking distance. (easy option: ride with the cable car into the valley). Walking time: approx. 7.5 hours, approx. 15 km, +1 450 m / -1 725 m, Hotel (example): Cat. The hotel is in walking distance of the railway station. Parking: affordable parking close to the hotel, CHF 20.- per week. Free parking is available at the cable car station. No reservation necessary. Return travel from Lenk to Meiringen with the train in approx. 3 hours. Further information On the 4 th day you have the possiblity to stay in a traditional mountain hut on Griesalp. Accomodation is basic but comfortable. A limited amount of single rooms is available in this place, sanitary facilities are on the floors. Who wants to enjoy the comforts of a normal hotel can go with the bus down to Kiental and spend the night in the hotel. Taxi transfer back up to Griesalp is then included in the price.
