Niagra Falls, NY DAY 1 We start our adventure in Niagara Falls, NY, a place of awe-inspiring scenery and the home of Niagara Falls State Park and its world renowned waterfalls. The falls are actually a collection of three waterfalls that straddle the border between Canada and the US, and form the highest flow rate of any waterfall in the world with a drop of more than 165 feet. They are known for their beauty as well as their value as a source of hydroelectric power. No visit to Niagara Falls is complete without a tour of the falls themselves. Barrels aren t necessary- a boat will be provided for you! We ll voyage past massive rock formations and into the roiling waterfall where you will feel the mist around you and hear the thunder of the powerful falls. After touring the falls by boat and experiencing the breathtaking views of the falls from the Cave of the Winds, we will return to the hotel where you can relax until our group dinner, which will be a perfect time to sit down, get to know your fellow travelers, and enjoy good food and conversation. Tonight and tomorrow morning we will discuss the route and weather for the next leg of our trip into Canada, and go over the process for international flying.
Montreal, Quebec, Canada DAYS 2-3 We begin the day with a late breakfast at the hotel and a weather and route briefing, and a discussion of international flight planning and filing, and customs procedures. We ll then begin our excursion into Canada, travelling across the border and up towards Montreal, viewing the sights and beauty of fall foliage along the way. We will pass Toronto, Lake Ontario s Northern Shore Line, the St Lawrence River, Ottawa, and finish in Montreal, where we will clear customs. Montreal is the most populous municipality of Quebec, and has a distinct four-season continental climate, with warm summers and snowy winters. It is an important center of commerce, aerospace, finance, and design, among others. Montreal is the second largest primarily French speaking city in the world, after Paris. After checking into the hotel in the heart of the city, you will have free time to rest in your room or even venture out before our group dinner, where you can relax, enjoy the meal and the company, and share stories about the day of flying. The next day will begin with breakfast at the hotel, followed by a guided tour of the city. After the tour the rest of your day will be free to explore parts of Montreal that we didn t see or that you d like to view in more depth. Montreal has much to offer, including museums, the Biodome and Biosphere, and shopping at the Underground City. Have dinner at your leisure and enjoy what Montreal has to offer before the next leg of the trip.
Martha s Vineyard, MA DAYS 4 & 5 We ll start day 4 with breakfast and a route and weather briefing for the final leg of our trip. After breakfast we ll depart Montreal, flying over the scenic mountains of northern New Hampshire and Vermont, stopping to clear customs in Burlington. From Burlington we ll continue to take in the magic of New England in the Fall before we turn south toward our final destination- Martha s Vineyard. Martha s Vineyard is an island south of Cape Cod in Massachusetts, with a land area of 100 square miles, making it the third largest island on the East Coast (and 58th in the US). The Vineyard is primarily a summer colony and is only accessible by boat and air. It is a popular tourist destination because of its pleasant summer weather and beautiful beaches. Take the time to unwind from the day's flying and enjoy the view after checking into the hotel. After the long day, we have arranged for dinner at a nearby location to enjoy some fresh local fare and a relaxing evening as the sun sets over the water. Day 5 will be an opportunity for you to relax, shop, tour the island, or if the weather is nice, enjoy the day on the beach with a good book. Or, join us in a group outing to explore the beauty of Martha s Vineyard. After the activities of the day, relax until our final group dinner, where we can share a last meal together, and enjoy the company and conversation of fellow aviators.
Departure DAY 6 Our last day begins with breakfast, and a weather and route briefing. We will depart Martha's Vineyard, flying over Block Island, East Hampton, and Long Island, towards the Statue of Liberty. We will then turn north up the Hudson River, flying over the famous Hudson River Corridor, with amazing views of NYC on our right. We will land for lunch, and from there say our final goodbyes and make our departures from this adventure.
