Greetings: I am pleased to inform you of our plans for a very exciting opportunity for our 7 th graders. Every year, each Middle School class makes one final trip together, it is known as our end-of-year retreat. The purpose of our retreat will be to give our students the opportunity to come together one last time as a group to learn and work together, participate in challenging and exciting games and adventures, and have a TON of fun! This year we will be returning to a fantastic facility to have our retreat. We will be staying at the Pineywoods Baptist Encampment. This camp is located on the southern edge of the Crockett national forest in the town of Woodlake, TX. The trip from TMI to the camp will be around 270 miles and we will be taking a chartered bus to and from the camp. We plan on departing from TMI on Thursday, May 19, at 10:00 a.m. We will be returning the following Sunday, May 22, at approximately 2:00 p.m. There will also be a day trip included, for which we will leave the camp and travel to a location 60 miles away to visit the Caddo Indian mounds. While we are at the camp, the kids will have the opportunity to participate in the following activities: v Ropes course (low or high) v GIANT swing v Pedal car races v Swimming in a pool v Fishing v Hiking v Evening campfire and singing (Coach Bowen might even bring his banjo!) v Dodgeball v Human Foosball v Volleyball v Basketball v Ga Ga ball v Hanging out with friends We have made every effort to keep costs down. The cost for this trip will be $175.00 per student. This covers the chartered bus transportation, lodging, all meals and activities, facility usage, and all applicable taxes and fees for three nights. Please remit payment to the TMI Business Office by May 13, 2016. The students will be staying in bunkhouse type accommodations. Each bunkhouse is climate controlled with air conditioning and private bathroom and shower facilities. The girls and the boys will be in separate bunkhouses. Please be sure to pack all bed linens as the camp does not provide sheets, blankets or pillows. Along with myself, Brandon Palomo, Rebecca Sam and Lucy Adams will be chaperoning this trip. More than likely, we will add one additional chaperone. We are all very excited

to be able to share in this adventure with your child. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact myself or Victoria Banks. Also, if you know that your child will not be attending the trip please let me know as soon as you can so we can plan accordingly. This trip is a great way to end the school year. It will be after final exams, so the students will be free from academic pressure and will be able to focus on having fun with one another. I highly encourage participation on this trip. If you have any questions, please let me know. Respectfully, Ken Bowen k.bowen@tmi-sa.org Victoria Banks v.banks@tmi-sa.org Packing List - Clothing for a 3-day trip - Walking/hiking shoes, sandals/flip flops - Toiletries (toothbrush, toothpaste, shower stuff) - Towel - Small flashlight - Hat - Sunscreen - Swimsuit (one piece for girls, or a dark t shirt to cover a two piece) - Pen/Pencil - Refillable water bottle (water is from a well and has a slight smell to it that can be off putting to some. The water is completely safe, but it might be a good idea to bring along some water flavoring) - Bed linens (bottom sheet, top sheet, blanket, pillow) - Cell phone (accessibility to phones will be very limited) Optional - Extra cash (there will be a stop at Buc-ee s and there is a gift shop at the camp) - Camera (phones can be used for this) - Sunglasses - Bug spray - Fishing pole and light tackle Do Not Bring - Video games (DS, Vita etc.) - Tablets - Laptops - Knives
