Parent Information This section is intended to provide additional information about the camp and our processes on a few topics. One theme you will see through most of the topics below is to have your campers speak with camp staff immediately if they have a concern or need help. We can address any issues your camper has much quicker if they speak with camp staff directly, rather than speaking with a parent or friend about something and then have that person try to contact the camp staff. Should you have any questions, please contact the camp director. Viewing Camp Practices All parents are allowed to watch training sessions during camp. Please park in Manor Garage (MAG) when visiting your camper for the youth camp. Please park in the LBJ Library surface lot when visiting your mini-camper at either DKR- Texas Memorial Stadium or the Frank Denius Fields. Parking in surface lots on The University campus requires a valid University permit. Parking without the required permit or parking in the Thompson Conference Center lot (Lot 40) will result in the issuance of a citation. Parents, guardians, campers and other spectators are not permitted to film any camp activities. Parents, guardians and other spectators may take photographs during camp provided that: 1. They remain in the public spectator areas. 2. The photography does not interfere with camp activities. 3. They cease taking pictures if requested by a member of the camp staff. 4. Photographs of campers are only taken with their consent. Campers may take pictures of camp staff and other campers (with their consent) at the conclusion of a camp. Contacting Campers (Emergency) During camp, our phone line, voice mail, and email are closely monitored to ensure you can contact us as quickly as possible. Should an emergency arise and you need to make contact with your camper, please email if at all possible with quick, brief details, and a phone number. For quick reference, our contact information is listed below. Phone: (512) 765-0786 Email: Tory.Teykl@Athletics.utexas.edu Inclement Weather Unfortunately, inclement weather can pop up without notice. The safety of our campers is our top priority. If conditions warrant, camp staff will alter the schedule due to inclement weather to ensure that our campers are safe. This could mean shortening a session, cancelling a session, extending a session or relocating a session to the Bubble. In addition, the Athletics Department subscribes to the WeatherData, Inc. SkyGuard monitoring and alerting service. Directors are immediately notified and will remove campers from any potentially dangerous situation. We will make decisions based on this information. 11

Training Groups Prior to each camp, the campers are divided into training groups. This is done based on position (if applicable), age, grade, and in some cases experience. We understand that this is not a perfect system, but it does give a good basis for group separation. The main goal is to have good peer interaction within each group. This means that age is a factor in how we assign groups. We want each group to be close in skill level, but it is inevitable that each group will have varying skill levels. This is true of camp or any team sport. If your camper feels they are not being challenged in their group and would like to have a coach evaluate them for the possibility of moving groups, please encourage your camper to come straight to the camp staff, rather than speaking with a parent and then having the parent try to reach the camp staff. 12

Camp Staff The Tom Herman Texas Football Camp employs coaches with varying backgrounds in football. The Camp will have 100-125 counselors/assistant coaches each session to provide coaching and supervision in all areas, and to maintain a low camper/staff ratio. Our counselors come from diverse coaching backgrounds (college, high school, age group). The camp staff provides a line of help and support to campers when needed. Most importantly, they are excited to work our camp, share their knowledge and passion for the sport, and provide a great life experience! The Camp also retains a licensed Athletic Trainer on staff. Our trainer is on-site at all sessions. The trainer will handle all camper illness/injury, treatment, doctor s visits, medications, and correspondence with parents in this area. ALL camp employees undergo an extensive screening and interview process that includes passing an annual, comprehensive, criminal background check performed by the University of Texas Human Resources Department. Per Texas state law, all camp staff must also complete a course on child abuse awareness and reporting every two years. 13

Football Camp Rules Please read thoroughly and keep this copy for your records. If you have any questions about the camp rules, please contact the camp director. BY ATTENDING THIS CAMP, YOU ARE AGREEING ADHERE TO THE CAMP RULES. 1. NO SMOKING, ALCOHOL, OR DRUGS. The use and/or possession of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, and any other illegal or inappropriate substance or items (firearms, lighters, matches, knives, etc.) by campers is prohibited. Any items found will be confiscated and calls to parents and appropriate law enforcement officials (if warranted) made. 2. CAMPERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE CAMP FOR ANY REASON. If there is a problem, campers should notify their coach. 3. Horseplay, excessive noise or disobedience during meals, in the bubble or at the practice site will not be tolerated. 4. Campers should immediately report any illness or injury to their coach or camp director who will refer them to an Athletic Trainer. The Athletic Trainer has final authority to allow a camper to miss a camp session. If campers must miss a session due to illness or injury, we will contact the parents and they may be sent home. 5. Be extremely careful when crossing all streets. Be aware of vehicles and bicycles. Always use the crosswalk. 6. Balls will be assigned to each field. All balls will be counted and must be turned in before leaving the field. 7. Be on time and have all necessary items before each practice. 8. Do not leave anything on the field after practice. Trash must be placed in trash cans. Clean up any spills. Take your belongings with you. Do not expect anything to be there when you return. 9. No gum or cell phones during practice. 10. Treat all camp staff and other campers with respect at all times. 11. Be respectful of the world class, university atmosphere at The University of Texas. Also, be respectful of those around you. People are working, attending classes and studying while the camps are in session. Your coaches, counselor, camp director and other staff members are available to help you with anything or answer any questions you may have. 14

Discipline The Tom Herman Texas Football Camp staff wants to ensure that each camper has a positive camp experience. Misbehavior of one camper or a group of campers can negatively affect the experiences of others, and our camp staff will make every effort to ensure that does not happen. Although the camp rules touch on some offenses that will get a camper immediately dismissed from camp, the following procedures are in place to make sure we act within a reasonable and consistent manner. Again, please note that if the offense warrants, any steps listed may be skipped or repeated at the discretion of the camp staff. First Offense: Campers who do not follow camp rules or exhibit behavior that has a negative impact on other campers will be warned by the camp counselor. Second Offense: Subsequent misconduct will result in a meeting with the Camp Director and a Texas Football full-time staff member. The Camp Director will contact the parent or guardian to advise them of the situation and tell them that the camper will need to be picked up from camp if the misconduct continues. Third Offense: The camper will again meet with the Camp Director and a Texas Football full-time staff member. The parent or guardian will be notified, and the camper will be dismissed from camp. Please note, we want to ensure the safety of all campers. In addition, we want to make sure that each camper has a positive camp experience. The steps listed above are to ensure a reasonable and consistent method is used when disciplining campers. FINAL DECISIONS RELATED TO DISCIPLINE ISSUES ARE MADE BY THE HEAD COACH WITH INPUT FROM THE COACHING STAFF, CAMP DIRECTOR, AND OTHER NEEDED ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT STAFF. CAMPERS DISMISSED FROM CAMP FOR DISCIPLINARY REASONS WILL NOT RECEIVE A REFUND OF ANY KIND. Youth Protection Program All summer programs involving minors at The University of Texas at Austin follow guidelines set forth by the Youth Protection Program (YPP). The purpose of the YPP is to promote the safety of minors participating in camps or programs on university premises or participating in those programs sponsored or supported by the University. All camps and programs work closely with the YPP Manager to ensure that every program operates in accordance with all of the university s policies, rules and regulations, as well as the laws of The State of Texas regarding the safety of minors. More information about the YPP is available online at www.youthprotectionprogram.utexas.edu, and questions can be directed to the YPP Manager at ypp@utexas.edu. 15

Campus Concealed Carry On June 1, 2015, Gov. Greg Abbott signed S.B. 11, also known as the "campus carry" law. S.B. 11 provides that license holders may carry a concealed handgun throughout university campuses, starting Aug. 1, 2016. The law gives public universities some discretion to regulate campus carry. The University of Texas at Austin and President Gregory L. Fenves take issues surrounding guns on campus very seriously and will strive to create policies that conform to the new law, protect the rights of citizens and ensure the safety and security of the entire campus. S.B. 11 provides that after consulting with students, staff and faculty regarding "the nature of the student population, specific safety considerations and the uniqueness of the campus environment" the university may enact reasonable rules and regulations regarding: Carrying of concealed handguns by license holders on campus; and Storage of handguns in dormitories or other residential facilities The law stipulates, however, that these rules and regulations may not generally prohibit" or "have the effect of generally prohibiting" license holders from carrying concealed handguns on campus. The purpose of the Youth Protection Program (YPP) is to protect all minors in their university-sponsored activities and interactions involving members of The University of Texas at Austin community. Pursuant to S.B. 11 (the Campus Carry Law ), the YPP Policy prohibits the carrying of a concealed handgun by any person involved in a University of Texas at Austin camp/program for minors. This Policy also applies to parents and guardians who are visiting or transporting a participating minor to and from camps/programs at The University of Texas at Austin. PURSUANT TO SECTION 30.06, PENAL CODE (TRESPASS BY LICENSE HOLDER WITH A CONCEALED HANDGUN), A PERSON LICENSED UNDER SUBCHAPTER H, CHAPTER 411, GOVERNMENT CODE (HANDGUN LICENSING LAW), MAY NOT ENTER THIS PROPERTY WITH A CONCEA LED HANDGUN Please see the Campus Carry Implementation (www.campuscarry.utexas.edu/) website for more information. Social Media Communication Designated individuals will set their social media accounts to private for the duration of the camp. Personal emails, text messages, phone calls, and private social media communications with campers are not allowed. Post Camp Communication Campers may stay in contact with the camp director, faculty or staff via the camp/program social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Personal emails, text messages, phone calls, and private social media communications with camp staff and faculty are not allowed. 16
