As you d expect, some things which come as standard with the Avanté are paid for extras with Xplore: including Winterhoff stabilizer and an alarm. With six-berth caravans under 12,000 Xplore brings family caravanning to people who might otherwise have to buy secondhand. It s a small step up from Xplore in price, but a big step up in spec. he Avanté range gets an improved BPW Swing V-ec chassis to improve towing stability and comes with a Winterhoff WS3000 stabiliser. GREA RIPLE-BUNK CARAVANS WINNER Best Family Caravan over 13,500 Crusader empest because families eat together 19,995 RUNNER-UP Caravan of the Year he wardrobe next to the triple bunks is massive, with three drawers underneath Layout now also available in the Avanté range his is the Elddis flagship a caravan with a brand new type of side dinette, where a family of four can sit down to meals or games of Scrabble. With a triple row of bunks for the kids too his is Elddis big story of 2010; a layout we ve not seen before in a caravan. he empest s approach to triple bunks is to lock them in a corner next to a wardrobe and opposite the. A really nice touch is that both the bottom and middle of the three bunks can fold away so you ve a very large storage area here for bicycles, which can be stashed away unobtrusively in this corner section. here are curtains to each bunk for privacy, and the bottom two bunks each have their own tinted window. he mid section is what this caravan s really about though; it has a dining area big enough for four (reasonably skinny) people to sit and eat together directly opposite the large kitchen. his area has its own full sized Heki roof light in addition to the one at the front lounge, so it s a bright and sunny area despite the dark privacy glass to the side windows. he kitchen has a massive amount of food storage space in two full height cupboards as well as two roof lockers and two drawers. here s a good amount of worktop space too, with two powerpoints to it. he hob is a three-burner gas affair, easy to use and ergonomically designed. he fridge/freezer is opposite, and there s a 175-litre hetford with a curved silver door; separate freezer compartment above, and a huge cupboard above that. he Crusader styling for this year is simply gorgeous; a textured weave in a linen colour, with toning detail in mulberry. We love the dark brown carpets which are going to hide all manner of marks. Elddis now has four new triple bunk caravans, including the empest on the previous page Elddis Xplore 596 13,495 RUNNER-UP Best Family Caravan under 13,500 Low cost triple bunk caravan, great for kids and storage I n Elddis range of triple bunk caravans, the Xplore is the cheapest and lightest. At the back of the caravan the row of three bunks has two windows, and you can fold up the bottom two bunks to make this into a storage area. A further flap lifts up from the floor to contain boxes, bikes and suitcases. Opposite there s a wide sofa and a single chair, which convert into the sixth Elddis Avanté 556 14,295 he same layout as the Elddis Xplore 556 (body size) and only 700 more for the next level up in trim and accessories. o our minds the simple facts that the Winterhoff stabiliser is standard with the Avanté, and the idc stability control is an option (it s not available with Xplore caravans) take this into another league for comparatively little extra expense. However it is a smaller caravan; the Xplore gives you a massive double wardrobe while the Avanté has a single. And the Avanté is a single-axle version. he Avanté is a little smaller, with a pull down sink over the toilet. Inside, the bed arrangement is the same. You get some nice extras bed. A concertina blind pulls across to separate this children s bedroom from the rest of the caravan. he front dinette has full-length sofas converting to double beds, with a chest of drawers. Between these two compartments you get an ample sized kitchen and fridge. here s a large cupboard for your food and a huge amount of wardrobe storage opposite in hanging space, cubbyholes and a floor level cupboard. like a double socket in the kitchen (Xplore has just one). Both Xplore and Avanté upholstery schemes are fresh and modern so there s little to choose between the two in terms of interior feel, but the Avanté gives you a better quality wood-framed locker door, and a nicer looking curved front hetford fridge. BRILLIAN BAHING Fabulous s he size and spec of your can be the deciding factor when it comes to choosing a new caravan. hese caravans each boast great facilities Elddis Odyssey 540 15,995 E lddis take on the 540 layout has a longer sofa to the back; a clever move as it means that an adult can use it as a single bed so the caravan is transformed into a true four berth. he really striking thing about the Elddis Odyssey 540 layout is the newly designed. It s smaller than some Elddis end s but is cunningly designed to make really good use of an L-shaped floor plan. As you go in, the sink is on your left. he loo is in the corner and the room then reaches around to your right so there s plenty of legroom in front of the toilet. he shower cubicle is at the end on the right, and in front of it there s a full length mirror with plenty of space to stand back and see what you re wearing top to toe. We rate this very highly as an excellent use of space. his is similar to the Elddis Xplore 452 but with higher spec: a two berth with a conventional, front dinette, and the back of the caravan providing a huge. he body appears to be quite similar to the Xplore, even down to having a lift up flap to provide extra kitchen worktop space. he Avanté though has a different layout with a big corner shower cubicle and a big wardrobe on the opposite corner. You benefit from the Avanté s styling; cool grey swirls, and plain beige chenille upholstery and stylish grey curtains; with a dark grey Berber carpet fitted into the corners. here are two powerpoints to the sideboard. In the living area there s a corner sideboard with a ruma water heater underneath and a V point above. Washroom aside, the caravan benefits from Odyssey s 7ft 6 inches width his gives a feeling of space around the kitchen and the small dinette opposite. his dinette is single width. All new massive has a huge walk in shower MPLM: 1525kg Overall length: 7.06m Superb shower room Spaciousness Elddis Avanté 624 15,395 his Avanté has a larger than the 540; oblong rather than L-shaped so it really feels more spacious. In practical terms this means a lot more storage space too. As you go in, the washbasin is ahead, a shower cubicle is on the right; and there are two floor to ceiling cupboards, one either side of you. he one to the left has shallow shelves ideal for toiletries, while the cupboard on the right has deeper shelves ideal for clothing and towels. he bedroom is even brighter in feel than the Odyssey 540; in part this is because the Avanté upholstery is fresher in feel, but the compartment s also striking in having a really large and deep window to one side, with two lockers underneath. here s a half depth window to the other side of the bed too. he wardrobe here is smaller than the bedroom wardrobe in the 540 and the effect is a much more open feeling to the area. Elddis Crusader Hurricane one to take to pitches with limited his really is services and ralliers are going to love it; massive and premium level style and furnishings. Overhead lockers are a beautifully constructed moulded door with inlaid steel trim. he curtains are a linen coloured fabric which would look fantastic in a modern living room. Lovely deep worktops too, with a wooden edge. Elddis Xplore 452 10,945 Lowest price end his award-winning entry level caravan is all about the. It s huge! Walk in through the proper door and you re standing in an ample drying area with a stylish sink and vanity unit in front of you and a large mirror. he shower cubicle is large, fully plastic lined and has a glass-look concertina door. In the corner there s a large wardrobe with a separate cupboard underneath, ideal for shoes or dirty washing. his two-berth layout has a side kitchen, a short sideboard opposite, and two full length sofas converting to beds, and with a central chest of drawers. he sideboard storage cupboard and overhead lockers provide ample space for food. And you re sure to love the linen-look curtains of the Xplore upholstery scheme. Great family value winner of Caravan Industry Washroom of the Year Where you do see the difference between the two caravans is in the area. he wardrobe and shower cubicle switch sides and the Avanté has a smaller shower. It s still a phenomenal amount of space and that small sacrifice may well be worthwhile to you, given the 1500 saving. WINNER Best 15,995 Award winner At a he here is our favourite of all the Elddis styles; the same as the Elddis Odyssey 524, with its extra long shower cubicle to the right, small vanity unit to the end and a large corner wardrobe with three drawers. he loo is positioned with plenty of space in front. FIXED BED MODELS Brilliant double beds A comfy bed which you don t have to make up each night the top of most people s wish list Elddis Avanté 540 14,195 his is the same layout as the Odyssey 540; and it s already proving one of the most popular layouts in the new Elddis range. We love the L-shaped with its long mirror. Again, the Avanté trim is one of our favourites from Elddis this year; the hetford gunmetal fridge marks this Avanté out as a step above the Xplore range and we like its silver grey curtains. he 540 is the lowest-priced Elddis to get both a fixed double bed and an end a winning layout in anyone s book. here s outside access to the under bed space for storage and this, like its sister van, the slightly wider Odyssey, has the new L-shaped it feels less spacious than some Elddis end s but it s a truly efficient use of that space. MPLM: 1540kg Overall length: 7.34m L-shaped Fixed double bed with corner alongside fi xed double bed with new L-shaped Elddis Xplore 544 11,995 e love the long front sofas of this new model, W which has a light and airy feel thanks to the new Xplore upholstery one of the nicest and most modern we ve seen in this year s launches. We can testify that a 5ft 5in journalist can stretch right out on the right hand sofa with plenty of room to spare. his is a deliberate move by Elddis this year increasing one front sofa to 1.80m in length to make these fixed bed layouts more family friendly; more space for eating and more single bed options for sleeping. he opposite sofa is 1.70m to accommodate the axle. In the middle of the caravan there s a sideboard area, also housing the ruma blown air heater, and it has a window (with a Venetian blind) into the bedroom it s a fabulous V station, equipped with powerpoint and aerial socket; or use it for overflow when cooking. he food cupboards it provides are enormous. he kitchen opposite is light on worktop space and resolves this thanks to a sturdy flap which extends over one surface when in use. he bedroom is comfortable; gas struts to the bed frame though there s no outside door to the storage area here. he corner is small, but there s a washbasin in the bedroom and a huge full-length mirror there. Between the bedroom and kitchen is a ¾ length wardrobe, and since it doesn t have to house the ruma heater, there s a large boot cupboard underneath. Altogether amazing value for a fixed bed caravan with plenty of interesting touches in layout and furnishings. MPLM: 1350kg Width: 2.14m Overall length: 7.34m Lots of storage Amazing value Elddis Odyssey 634 17,495 his is a real show stealer. If you only have time to look around two Elddis caravans this year, make it the Crusader empest and the Odyssey 634. Why? As soon as you walk in, there is a beautifully open-plan feel to the caravan, with a chrome pole supporting a cabinet on the end of the kitchen unit and giving an open view to the bedroom. here are three powerpoints here two at kitchen cabinet level and one at high cabinet level, so any consumer electronics you can possibly need can be housed here, with easy access to both kitchen and bedroom. he bedroom is bright, with a tall window and two floor height cupboards, and there s outside access to the underbed space. here s a tall wardrobe with a shoe cupboard underneath. he end is truly and utterly massive, with a huge shower cubicle, and a full length mirror with plenty of space around it to stand back and inspect your outfit. here s a tall cupboard full of shelves for toiletries. his is a caravan for people who want to use site facilities and have their own shower as a backup you Back in the main body of the caravan, the kitchen has a very stylishly curved cupboard with a curved door hiding small wire drawers. It s a capacious cooking area and you can make use of extra workspace which extends into the bedroom. he fridge is opposite, with further worktop space and a cupboard. If you ever fancied yourself as the owner of a Fleetwood Heritage, before that company went bust last year, the 634 is something you really have to see. MPLM: 1725kg Overall length: 7.96m : Elddis Odyssey 544 15,995 MPLM: 1560kg Outside access to under the bed Superb kitchen Huge Extremely luxurious kitchen Improved layout gobsmacking interior with an open plan feel pass the loo to get to the shower. What Elddis have done is understand that you ll be using the sink more often than the shower so it s been moved out into the bedroom as a vanity unit. he kitchen is great: it stands opposite the door, and faces a very large sideboard which you can use as extra worktop space or for the V. wo cupboards and one drawer, plus the rumatic heater stand underneath. It s an arrangement which allows the tall wardrobe to have a separate cupboard for shoes Elddis Avanté 626 15,395 his caravan has the biggest living area of any 2010 Elddis Avanté. It s body shell is the same size as the 624, but where that caravan is a four berth (ideally a spacious two berth) with the space given over to a luxurious bedroom and, this one squeezes the bed and into the end of the caravan giving acres of lounge and dining room. It also has a side dinette which converts into end fi xed bedroom next to a very small or laundry which in other caravans is often used up by the heater. Odyssey has the most dramatic colour scheme of the four Elddis ones on offer and if you want something more neutral, don t Best for family living two bunks, with a generous sized kitchen opposite. FIXED BED MODELS Elddis Odyssey 550 15,995 Award-winning layout his caravan is a longstanding favourite with Which Caravan it won the award for Best Couple s Caravan in the 2008 Which Caravan Awards, while its sister caravan, the Compass Rallye 550 won the same award in 2009. Unchanged in layout for 2010, this Odyssey is one of only three Elddis layouts to retain its L-shaped lounge and is also available in the more expensive and luxurious Crusader Mistral form. Walk into either caravan and you get an immediate sensation of space the open lounge and end bedroom are given a clear sense of being two separate rooms thanks to corridor formed between the and kitchen. he bedroom is its big attraction: a large double bed with memory MPLM: 1530kg Memory foam mattress Lowest priced Elddis island bed Elddis Crusader Aurora 16,995 Improved layout I t s really nice to see that Elddis Crusaders have retained their Hartal loftstyle split doors this year which make them very distinctive and stylish on site. his particular model benefits from the Elddis decision to lengthen one of the front sofas this year to make the single bed options more versatile for families there really is plenty of space for an adult to stretch out on the right hand side of the caravan. here s a very nice amount of storage space under the bed. Gas struts of course, and this one has an external door into the storage area, which is a big plus. he wardrobe has two large compartments one hanging compartment and a floor height cupboard, and there s a sideboard foam mattress on gas struts with capacious storage underneath (though there s no outside door into this space). Great his and hers wardrobes to either side of that t bed. hough the is going to be quite small and basic in a layout of this type, the kitchen is very functional the oven, fridge and blown air heater are in a row with a large amount of worktop space over them, a three e burner hob and good overhead storage. here are two powerpoints ideally placed for your kettle or V. housing the ruma blown air heater plus two generous cupboards and a drawer. hough this might be a little low for food preparation, it s very useful overflow space from the kitchen. And the Venetian blinds to the bedroom can be folded away to give a viewing hatch if you re watching V in bed. MPLM: 1640kg island bed, and a comfy L-shaped lounge end fi xed bedroom, with a sideboard and a tall wardrobe External styling Good cupboard space Memory foam mattress Elddis Crusader Mistral 16,995 Island bed his is the most sumptuous bedroom of all the Elddis 2010 range. A concertina blind pulls across to separate it from the rest of the caravan and the twin wardrobes are more practical than some no difficultto-access drawers, but floor level door cupboards instead. he headboard matches the very stylish upholstery fabric. And there are two lovely deep privacy windows one on each side of the bedroom. Lie in bed and watch the site waking up each morning as sun streams through the large rooflight. he lounge has another rooflight and is equally bright, while the ample kitchen has a long, deep worktop, with oven, fridge and ruma heater underneath, plus two drawers. he side is not at all bad in size, though chunky folk may be better off with a side bed layout like the Supersirocco which allows for an end. MPLM: 1590kg gorgeous island bed and an L shaped lounge His and hers wardrobe design he windows Memory foam mattress Elddis Crusader Cyclone 19,995 Island bed e viewed the Cyclone in the warm beige leather W option and very nice it is too. here s something very pleasing about the Cyclone; and it s to do with the slightly angled kitchen which narrows the kitchen at the oven position until you reach a shower and loo opposite each other together these act as a kind of boundary between main caravan and bedroom. Elddis are looking at altering a door configuration so that you can use the shower door to close off the whole compartment too. his caravan has the big and lovely full height silver hetford fridge and freezer, with 175-litre capacity. here s no outside door to the under bed storage, but the bedroom does have a very nice corner unit with a mirror; ideal to use as a dressing table. he effect of the leather is to give this caravan a warm glow compared to the cool tones of the fabric option. MPLM: 1850kg Overall length: 7.96m island bed with separate shower and toilet rooms Gorgeous leather option Angled kitchen Memory foam mattress AND something very different Elddis Supercyclone 19,995 here s something quite special hidden quietly under the covers in the Supercyclone: Elddis have invented a new bed mechanism which converts the end bedroom from singles to doubles without the need for clattering slats. his is really one to watch: a little bird tells us that if customers like it, it could be on its way into some Elddis front lounges from next year. he Supercyclone is perfect if you want a layout which will last as your kids get older and want full sized beds, and its equally good with two couples holidaying together because your sleeping areas are so separate: the shower and loo are opposite each other with doors which draw across to both sides the inhabitants of either bedroom can have access, but in use it effectively creates an en-suite which can face in either direction, depending on who s using it. his is also superb caravan for couples who want to leave the lounge as a lounge.
