General information PASSPORTS & VISAS It is your responsibility to ensure you have a valid passport and all necessary travel documents are in order. All non EEC nationals must ensure they have visas if required, for further information, please check with the relevant embassy. CURRENCY We are able to accept Euros or debit/credit card payments for the purchase of lift passes and ski hire in resort. All resorts have cash point machines which accept UK credit/debit cards with a pin number. INSURANCE Please ensure you have suitable Winter Sports insurance protection and you have copies of your insurance documents with you. If for any reason you do not have, you can purchase Ski Club Travel Insurance QUOTE SVAL10 TO SAVE 10%. A valid European Health Insurance Card gives you the right to access state-provided healthcare during a temporary stay in another European Economic Area (EEA) country or Switzerland. The EHIC is not an alternative to travel insurance. It will not cover any private medical healthcare or costs, such as mountain rescue in ski resorts, being flown back to the UK, or lost or stolen property. It is also not valid on cruises. It is therefore important to have both an EHIC and a valid private travel insurance policy in place before you travel. In addition to your insurance, unless you have the Fogg Medi-card (available with Ski Club Travel Insurance), it is worth considering Carre Neige (Espace Killy passes) or Arlberg Safety card (St Anton) which for a couple of Euros per day offers further peace of mind for your search, rescue and transport off the mountain in the event of an accident. This can be purchased locally, ask your Chalet Manager for more information. Ski Packs Lift passes, ski/board/boot hire & ski school Lift Passes - If you have not already pre-booked your lift passes you can speak to our resort team during your transfer from the airport to resort (or on arrival if you are travelling independently) and they will be able to assist you. All our resorts have an electronic lift pass system, proof of date of birth will be needed before purchasing any age discounted passes, photos are required for certain passes but these can be organised locally. In St Anton, a small refundable deposit of 5 Euros is required for your lift pass. Ski Hire We have negotiated special prices that offer savings particularly if you pre book through our local suppliers. If you hire ski equipment please make sure you are aware of the level of cover offered by your own insurance policy, many shops offer top up insurance if your level of cover is not high enough. Ski School - If travelling at peak dates and/or with children, it is worth making contact with the ski schools before you travel. For more information about all of the above and to pre book ski hire or lessons, please refer to the relevant links below: Val d Isere ski packs > Tignes ski packs > St Anton ski packs >

Travel information FLIGHTS & AIRPORT INFORMATION Please refer to your final holiday information for all your essential flight details including baggage allowances, ski carriage etc. AIRPORT HOTELS & PARKING If needed, we have arranged special rates for airport hotels and parking. Click here for a quote now > LOST PROPERTY If your luggage is lost, damaged or delayed whilst in transit on flights it is essential that you obtain a PIR (Property Irregularity Report) form from the airline handling agent/rep at the airport. This must be obtained and completed before leaving the airport as without this any claim you make from the airline may be invalidated. YOUR ARRIVAL Once you have collected your luggage, please make your way to the Arrivals Hall, where our Ski-Val staff will be waiting to direct you to your coach for the transfer to resort. We do our best to minimize any waiting time at your arrival airport and get you quickly on your way to resort, however at times it may be necessary to wait for other arrivals. Approximate transfer times are as follows, please remember that this will depend on road and weather conditions. Lyon to Val d Isere/Tignes Approx 3 hours Friedrichschafen to St. Anton Approx 1.5 hours. During your journey to resort, if you have not already done so, you can organise lift passes, ski hire and lessons and our staff will also be able to help you with any other questions you may have. We endeavour to get the coach as close as possible to your chalet but this does depend on resort traffic restrictions and the road/weather situation. Conditions sometimes mean you may be transferred by mini bus or taxi or depending on the distance it may be a short walk to your chalet so ensure you have suitable footwear and a warm coat for your arrival! INDEPENDENT TRAVELLERS Please see instructions at the end of this guide for how to locate your chalet once in resort. ARRIVAL / DEPARTURE DAY Guests arriving before mid afternoon will not normally be able to gain access to their bedrooms immediately. Our resort staff will advise of the arrangements available to enable you to go skiing or to go for a walk around town. Information on departure details will be advised towards the end of your week. On the day of departure please be ready to leave at the stated time so as not to keep others waiting. On occasions you may leave resort earlier than expected due to forecasted heavy traffic or poor weather conditions. We ask all our guests to co-operate with our staff and ensure you vacate your rooms at the given time. For those leaving resort later than this, our staff will advise of the arrangements available to enable you take advantage of the extra ski time and where possible will provide changing/ storage facilities (these will be shared by both incoming and outgoing guests). Careful note should be taken in respect of instructions as to where luggage can be stored and bags should be clearly labelled.

Chalet information Please also read the information relating to your chalet on our website including its Chalet plans & info and the Your holiday skiing made easy pages in particular the general information. ACCOMMODATION Please bear in mind that our chalets are often people s mountain homes. Each has its own idiosyncrasies and the plumbing and electricity may not be as modern or powerful as hotels. Hot water systems may not be powerful enough to give everyone a shower at the same time and some chalets blow their fuses if too many appliances are switched on at once! Though we welcome children in any of our chalets they will not be as child friendly as your home, for example there are no stair gates or safety covers for electric sockets and there may not be a microwave for heating bottles or baby food. DAMAGE Though we don t usually charge a damage deposit for chalet guests, we reserve the right to do so. However, any damage caused to our chalets will have to be paid for by those concerned before departure from resort. Party leaders are responsible for their groups. ELECTRICITY In France & Austria, the electricity supply is 220V. A two pin continental adapter obtainable in the UK is required for all electrical appliances. INTERNET/WIFI Is available free of charge in all of our chalets, however, in most instances belongs to the chalet owner so its availability is outside of our control. Please bear in mind that in the mountains, signal strength can vary, may not always be that strong or suitable for large amounts of streaming. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that it will be operative or that there will be continuous and uninterrupted connection. In the event of technical or other issues preventing access, no refund or compensation will be paid! Bear in mind that access may not be available throughout the chalet and maybe in communal areas only. We recommend that if accessing or downloading is essential during your holiday, you have your own data/ roaming package for back up or make use of a local internet shop. LINEN Bed linen, hand and bath towels are provided. If you have pre-booked a travel cot and highchair please bring your own cot blanket/ sleeping bag and a harness for the high chair if required. If you are travelling with young children please ensure you bring a waterproof mattress cover if needed!

OUR STAFF One of the most relaxing things about a chalet holiday is its informality however our staff are there to help you get the most out of your holiday so please do not hesitate to see them if you require any assistance or advice. In our chalets your chalet staff will be there to greet you and act as your hosts for the week; they prepare and cook your meals and keep the chalet clean however they are not maids or domestic servants (and should not be treated as such!). There is also a Resort Manager and a team of Chalet Managers who will be on hand to assist with any queries and give you general information about the resort, après ski etc. Our chalet hotel is run by a team of staff headed by a manager. All our staff have one day off mid week, although there will be a help yourself breakfast and afternoon tea, there will be no chalet cleaning or evening meal. SAUNAS/STEAM ROOMS/ JACUZZI/HOT TUBS For those chalets that benefit from these facilities, access is generally limited to between 16.30 & 19.00 and not on staff day off or arrival/departure day. Jacuzzi s are emptied, cleaned and refilled on change over day and will therefore not be available on this day. Your chalet staff will confirm all these details to you. Should these facilities become unavailable for any reason, we cannot guarantee being able to replace parts or repair it during your holiday but will obviously do our best. We do not offer compensation for inconvenience or curtailed use in such event!. Please note that particularly for those chalets with outdoor hot tubs, there are local rules and regulations with regards noise and respect for neighbours. For this reason, their use is not allowed after dinner. Use of chalet domestic hot tubs is subject to local laws, we cannot be held responsible if these should change. SECURITY Please leave valuables at home as very few chalets have individual locks on the bedrooms. Where possible, front door keys will be provided for a small deposit. SMOKING POLICY To ensure everyone s comfort, and to conform to local laws, all our chalets are non smoking; this includes the bars at the Chamois d Or and Alpaka Lodge. TELEPHONES Most of our chalets do not have landlines so telephones are generally not for client use. If you wish to leave a contact number with relatives for emergency use please contact reservations on 01822 611200 and we can advise of your chalet contact number. The UK office can of course pass on any urgent messages received during working hours to you in resort via our resort staff. TELEVISIONS These are provided in chalets primarily to watch DVDs (bring your own), some may not be able to access any channels, others may be able to access local/international channels. WHAT TO BRING For the comfort of all our guests and at the request of our chalet owners we have a no outdoor shoes policy within the chalet so slippers or a suitable pair of indoor shoes are essential. Favourite board games and of course your duty frees, always go down well! All our chalets have CD and/or MP3 players, TV and DVD players (bring your own CDs/DVDs) and a selection of board games are available in resort. SELF DRIVE INFORMATION Please ensure you are familiar with all local driving rules and regulations for all countries you are driving through. For route maps try www.viamichelin.com or www.theaa.com. Don t forget, you should take snow chains when travelling to the Alps in winter - in bad conditions the local police will not let you up the mountain to resort without them. Parking is not generally available at our chalets however, underground parking is available in resort, payable locally. Your chalet staff will advise on your arrival. If you decide to park on the street be aware that the local police are extremely strict on illegal parking and your car may be towed away. Please also be aware that snow ploughs are not known for their consideration of inconveniently parked vehicles when snow clearing! PLEASE NOTE: Visitors using Austrian motorways and A roads need to be in possession of a Motorway Vignette. The Austrian police can fine those not in possession of a Motorway Vignette. These are obtainable at all major border crossings into Austria and at the larger petrol stations. Please also note that in Austria all vehicles driving on snow covered roads must have winter tyres (or all season tyres) during the season from 1 November to 15 April Motorists travelling in France must now carry two working breathalyser kits. Available to buy from places such as Halfords or on-line from Amazon.co.uk If you have not already done so, please notify us of your approximate arrival time so chalet staff know when to expect you. If you are delayed en-route and are going to be arriving after 19:30 please phone ahead to let our resort staff know (so they can save your dinner!).
