DAY 1: USA - FRANCE (Saturday) Fly overnight to Paris. DAY 2: PARIS (Sunday) On arrival in Paris, your French Forum Tour Manager will greet you at the airport and remain with you throughout your tour. Transfer by private motorcoach to your hotel and drop off your bags. This afternoon, stroll down the most famous avenue of the capital, the Champs-Elysées. Climb to the top of the Arc de Triomphe to admire the view. See the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Walk through le Trocadéro and view la Ville Lumière from the third floor of the Eiffel Tower. Afterwards, board a glass-topped Bateau Mouche and enjoy a refreshing cruise on the Seine River Have dinner at a local restaurant. Enjoy a night stroll of the illuminated Paris before returning to your hotel for overnight accommodation. DAY 3: PARIS (Monday) Breakfast at your hotel. Visit the Musée du Louvre. The Louvre is the world s best-known, biggest, and busiest museum. Its famous collection of art and antiquities includes the Mona Lisa along with 35,000 more works of art on display in 300 rooms. Stop by a local market on your way and taste some of the local delicacies! This afternoon, visit the gothic Cathédrale Notre-Dame. Climb the towers for an amazing view of Paris and to catch a glimpse of the famous gargoyles. You ll then enter the Sainte-Chapelle, a breathtaking gothic style chapel built in 1238. Continue on to the area of Montmartre. You will head up to the highest point in Paris, known locally as La Butte. Climb the steps to reach the Sacré- Cœur, Montmartre s hilltop church and most famous landmark. Have a fondue dinner in the area. Overnight accommodation in Paris. DAY 4: PARIS - SAINT ETIENNE (Tuesday) Have breakfast at your hotel. This morning, explore the Marais Quarter, which takes its name from the marshes on which it was originally built. Visit the home of Victor Hugo. He wrote some of his major works there and hosted other famous authors such as Lamartine, Vigny, Dumas, and Gautier. Enjoy some free time for shopping and for lunch. Board the high speed train TGV to Saint Etienne in Loire departement (county). Meet your host family upon arrival. While living with a host family, you will find that French is more than just a textbook language. It becomes a living and working language, spoken and written on a daily basis. You will eat French food (at the standard French meal times), meet locals, and have the opportunity to practice your French in real-life situations.
Enjoy your first evening with your host family. DAY 5: DAY TRIP TO LYON (Wednesday) After breakfast with your family, take a train to Lyon. Commanding a strategic spot at the confluence of the Rhône and the Saône Rivers, Lyon has been luring people ever since the Romans named it Lugdunum in 43 BC. Lyon is France s third largest city, and offers today s urban explorers a wealth of enticing experiences. Visit top Lyon attractions and get a taste of France s culinary capital on a bicycle, a nearly effortless way to sightsee. Exploring Lyon s UNESCO World Heritage listed Old Town with a guide, you will ride along the Rhône River and up La Croix-Rousse, spin through Place des Terreaux, and break at a local eatery to enjoy regional specialties such as sausage and cheese. Visit the must-see Basilica of Notre-Dame de Fourvière and admire the views of the whole city. The rest of the afternoon is yours! Take advantage to discover Lyon by your own. Return by train to Saint-Etienne for dinner and night accommodation with your family. DAY 6: DAY TRIP TO THE MONT BLANC (Thursday) After breakfast with your host family, board a private motor coach to Chamonix, a city in the heart of the Alpes where you ll enjoy an amazing view of the Mont Blanc. Take a cable-car to go to the top of the Aiguille du Midi. From its height of 3,777m, its laid-out terraces offer a 360 view of all the French, Swiss and Italian Alps. A lift brings you to the summit terrace at 3,842m, where you will have a clear view of Mont Blanc (depending on weaher conditions). Since December 21st 2013, the more fearless will take A STEP INTO THE VOID, onto a 2.50 m glass cage out over a 1000m precipice. A product of modern architectural and technical prowess and a sensation packed experience. Enjoy some free time to walk around in Chamonix. Drive back to Saint Etienne for dinner and night accommodation with your family. DAYS 7 to 9: WEEKEND WITH YOUR FAMILY (Friday to Sunday) DAY 10: EXCHANGE PROGRAM (Monday) Attend school with your partner. During, you will be asked to provide contact information, a valid passport number, and method of payment. If you do not have a passport yet, don t worry you will still be able to enroll. However, we advise you to apply for your passport as soon you finish enrolling for your trip. Forum Language Experience has purchased the Student Protection Plan from Travel Insured International on behalf of all participants. If you would like to purchase the optional Cancel For Any Reason benefit, you must choose it at the time of enrollment, and the additional fee MUST be included with your first trip deposit. The total cost for this upgrade is $30.38. After you have enrolled and your payment has been made, you will receive an email with a username and password to access your Traveler web account.
