Mcel announces increase in benefits and adjustment of tariffs Mcel, the largest operator in Mozambique, increased the already substantial benefits offered to its more than 3.8 million customers. These benefits include massive increases in free sms s for contracts and prepaid (giro), with a further re-designing of its yóyó bonus programme offering more credit when loading, much cheaper tariffs on calls to favourite numbers for both contracts and prepaid, and the reduction of more than 50% on tariffs for netmovel (mobile internet service) while remaining the only operator in the country offering 3G for fast mobile internet. This constitutes the most complete and profound revision of the mcel s global offer in the past three years, bringing in additional benefits and rewards to its subscribers, and at the same time positioning the operator as the one with the best overall portfolio for the market, while also informing that it will continue to invest above 60 millions of US Dollars per year in the improvement of quality of their network services. Mcel also announced a slight adjustment of 7% on its tariffs, due to the accumulated inflation growth in the last years and the increase of structural costs resulting from the continuous investment in its service delivery infrastructure. The last tariff adjustment took place 3 years ago, in 2007, meaning that the adjustment announced ends up being quite below the inflation accumulated in three years since the last adjustment.
