TRANSFORMING TRANSPENNINE MAY 2018 TIMETABLE We are now at a key milestone for our franchise, with the timetable change that comes into effect on Sunday 20 May 2018 the biggest and most important since 2014. This new timetable structure is also a big step which will enable us to start to introduce our new Nova fleet later this year. This newsletter focuses on our May 2018 timetable and details what is changing on our North, South and Anglo-Scottish routes.
THE NORTH ROUTE The May 2018 timetable will see a great deal of change for the North Route. Four fast trains per hour across the Pennines will all depart from Victoria. We will begin operating six trains per hour across the Pennines which includes calling at new stations between and Leeds; we will start to use the Ordsall Chord meaning that we ll connect s three main stations for the first time; and we will run two trains per hour to Liverpool Lime Street all operating on the Chat Moss line. From May 2018 two trains per hour will call at a number of new intermediate stations between and Leeds, and you can see the calling patterns for these services (right and overleaf). These will directly connect many of these stations to and Leeds for the first time. We will, except for at peak times, be the sole operator between to Huddersfield which should lead to performance improvements owing to the high performance of the trains operating on that section of our network. HULL The May 2018 timetable will provide Hull with improved evening and weekend services, through the provision of hourly direct services in the evening and a consistent hourly service on Sundays. There are some changes to calling patterns with the introduction of the intermediate stations as set out below, which provide increased connectivity to/from Hull for these locations. Later this year Hull services will also benefit from a gradual increase of capacity with services increasing from three to six carriages. THE NORTH EAST AND LIVERPOOL Two trains per hour will operate between Newcastle and, with all North- East services to the Airport running via the Ordsall Chord calling at all three of s main stations. There will be Sunday enhancements at Middlesbrough meaning an hourly, instead of two hourly service. Liverpool Lime Street Scarborough services will run via the Chat Moss between Liverpool and Victoria calling at Lea Green, which means that we will no longer call at Birchwood, Warrington Central and Liverpool South Parkway. These stations will be served instead by a service provided by Northern Rail. This will mean a reduction in journey times by up to twenty minutes. Our Liverpool - Newcastle services will start to call at Newton-le-Willows. Please note some services do not call at all intermediate stations.
