INDEPENDENT NEWS Inside This Issue: Page 1 Front Page News Secretary s Report I S S UE Front Page News Founders Corner Birthday s New Member Tom s Safety Tip Page 3 Our Newest Ride Leader I would like to introduce you to our newest Ride Leader, Joe Ray. Joe has been with us almost from day one. What a great asset he has become to our club. Other than being a great guy and friend a few months ago Joe had shown an interest in becoming a Ride Leader. I have always said being a Ride Leader is a hard job and takes commitment to do these rides. Without theses special people we would not have safe and enjoyable rides. So I want to thank Joe and all of the other Ride Leaders for their hard work and commitment! If anyone wants to be a Ride Leader, please see Mike who is our Head Ride Leader and he will let you know how to become one. As a R.L you won t need to come up with rides or even know routes, we can help with all that. Please see Mike if you re interested. PAGE 2 Rick & Jodi - Founders Wish Our Members a Happy Birthday! Founders Corner By Rick & Jodi I would like to remind everyone about our 4th Annual Picnic next month, Sunday September 10th so you can start making plans to come! We will be having all your favorite food like Tri-Tip, chicken, and hot dogs, BBQ d by our own master chef for the last 3 years, Kevin Large and his lovely wife Dawn. Don t forget we will have all the fix ns and desserts to go along with it not men on the ice cold so drinks and water, BYOB is not a problem at this park. This new venue that we reserved for us is an Birthdays all day event and up un l 8:00pm. The picnic starts at 11:00 and ends when everyone leaves. We are going to have some fun games to play and don t forget the SLOW RACE. We even came up with a race for the trikes!! Yes you heard it right, trikes!! They will be going in reverse without going over the lines and the first one that crosses the finish line wins! If it s a hot day you will also love the water balloon toss. Remember there's a $5 refundable cket that will be given back to all members when you come or you can use it for our opportunity drawings. Please don t forget to invite all you family and friends for a full day of fun and food! Dwight Rich Kenny Dawn Kevin Chris New Member Let s Give Denis a Warm Welcome! Safety Officer Tom INDEPENDENT NEWS Tom s Safety Tip By Tom Hot Weather Dress Modes Riding in California certainly has its advantages. With the year round weather pa erns being so hospitable, we are apt to see the full exposure modes of Heat and Cold, Rain and Shine. Transi oning from cold weather to hot weather offers a challenge in that as the day progresses you ll find yourself stripping away the layers as the temperature rises. Denis This can prove detrimental as you ll eventually either sun burn and / or get heat stroke. In addi on to constant rehydra on, you should also take a page out of the Bedouin s hand book and dress in light colored layers that are comfortable and can be easily removed or replaced as the need arises. Just remember that you are on a motorcycle and not at the beach, and so safety is the primary considera on. Foot ware and outer clothing must offer minimal protec on all the mes.

LOL Ray J Tom John Another month, another WIN!! Last month the gas card, this month the CASH! Congratula ons Joe Ray! Congratula ons to Tom Mead for being the winner of July s gas card! Nice to pull up to the pump and get a free tank of gas! Winner Winner!! Johnny G. Good job always awesome to have a FREE lunch at Reyes Creek Bar and Grill! In the 2015 WACO Shoot-Out who was the 2nd club involved besides Cossacks? 1) Hells Angels 2) Bandidos 3) Outlaws Answer: Bandidos Reyes Creek Bar & Grill By Rick Reyes Creek Bar & Grill is always an adventure. The ride from Lockwood Valley RD. to Reyes Creek Bar & Grill is well worth taking that narrow winding road out in the middle of nowhere for some of the best comfort food ever! It will be a hot day so some of our ride will be on the freeway to beat the heat. Then we will take Lockwood Valley Road towards Hwy 33 into Reyes Creek. Get ready for some beau ful scenic riding and some delicious food and cold beverages!! HC Seafood Last Month s Rides Yosemite Our first ride was a 4 day trip to Yosemite. Sco led this ride the whole 4 days we were there. This trip was nothing short of spectacular, and exci ng. One, if not, the best trip IRUSA has ever had! Riding, sights, adventure, hanging out, waterfalls, you name it this trip was the best. Thank you Sco for an unbelievable trip! What's for next year Sco? Our second ride went to our favorite Italian restaurant by the ocean, Spruzzo s. This was another hot weekend where people wanted to ride but wanted to stay cool so Spruzzo s was the place to go. Always great food, great view and great people! Our third ride was led by Dave right a er our General Mee ng that went to a Place called HC Seafood at the Channel Islands right. This is the place where you can pick out live crab and / or lobster and they will cook it for you right then and there. You can t get much fresher than that! I want to thank Dave for leading this ride for me as the day before I had heat stoke. Thanks Dave! Our fourth ride went to Hollister for the Independence Rally they have every year. We stayed in King City and from there we had some of the best riding of the year! Hollister was nice checking out all the venders. Overall with the heat this was a great trip with some great people and the most crowed that I have ever seen Hollister before. Always a fun me. Remember, Ride Hard but safe!
