VISITOR EXPERIENCE Our visitors are the driving force behind the Inspiration Begins Here! Campaign everything we do is to provide the best Museum experience possible. In addition to remodeling our Flight Zone and Apollo gallery exhibits, the campaign also funded more wayfinding signs, a fresh coat of paint for the William E. Boeing Red Barn, bathroom renovations and upgrades to our private event spaces. EDUCATION The Museum s mission is to be the foremost educational air and space museum in the world, and you have made it possible! The Inspiration Begins Here! Campaign provided more learning opportunities for curious minds of all ages, including launching the Boeing Academy for STEM Learning in 2015, the Aeronautical Science Pathway program in 2016 and increasing the scope of countless other educational efforts. Now it s even easier for students to visit the Museum, get hands-on experience from knowledgeable educators and earn school credits to pursue their dreams.
AVIATION PAVILION The new Aviation Pavilion added 140,000 square feet of new exhibits, education and event space to the Museum s campus. Located between the Charles Simonyi Space Gallery and Raisbeck Aviation High School, the building is the largest single part of the Inspiration Begins Here! Campaign. The Pavilion opened to the public in June 2016 and covers 19 of our most extraordinary aircraft, allowing our visitors to explore them inside and out all year round.
727 AFTER RESTORATION 727 BEFORE The Inspiration Begins Here! Campaign brought history to life by restoring 20 of our most iconic aircraft to their former glory. From the 247D that revolutionized crosscountry travel in the 1930 s, to the B-29 Superfortress that helped to end World War II, to the 747 that introduced a new era of commercial and freight transport the Museum preserves and protects some of the most revolutionary aerospace artifacts in the world. Thanks to your help, the innovation of the past will continue to inspire the future. 747 BEFORE 747 AFTER CAMPAIGN RESTORATION PROJECTS Antonov An-2 Colt Boeing 247D Boeing 727 prototype Boeing 747 Boeing 787 Dreamliner Boeing B-29 Superfortress Boeing B-52 bomber Boeing VC-1378 Stratoliner Cessna O-2A Skymaster Chance Vought XF8U-1 Crusader de Havilland DH 106 Comet Douglas DC-2 Goodyear F2G-1 Super Corsair JetStar Viscount F-27 Lockheed 1329 Jetstar McDonnell Douglas AV-8C Harrier North American AT-6F Texan Piasecki H-21B Workhorse Pratt-Read PR-G1 Glider SPAD XIII (S.13)
THE BOEING CENTENNIAL The Museum of Flight was home to the Boeing Centennial Founder s Day celebration in July. For three days, we opened our doors to approximately 93,000 visitors, Boeing employees, retirees and their families. Boeing-themed attractions included the interactive exhibit Above and Beyond, the unveiling of the Boeing Centennial Honor Wall to commemorate the men and women who helped shape the visionary company, and a lineup of Boeing s entire 7 series which showcased the evolution of aerospace engineering through time. CAMPAIGN LEADERSHIP The Inspiration Begins Here! Campaign would not have been possible without the unparalleled leadership and enthusiasm of our Campaign Committee. Since the very beginning, Campaign Chair Bill Ayer and Museum Chairwoman Anne Simpson have fostered our goal to create more opportunities for students and make the museum a more engaging place to visit. We extend our deepest gratitude to Bill and Anne for all they have done to ensure that inspiration truly begins here thank you!
