Once the applicant starts the ride, the entry fee is not refundable. Ride Manager must be notified of cancellation by the start of the ride or no refund will be issued. Please allow 7-10 business days after the ride for a refund to be returned. Trails: The trails will be a mixture of two track dirt roads, single track trail and sandy washes. Expect some rocky stretches of trail with significant stretches of trail in sandy washes. There will also be elevation changes, as Wickenburg is surrounded by beautiful mountains in the Sonoran Dessert. We do recommend hoof protection. All vet checks and holds will be at the Boyd Ranch. Campsite: Primitive camping that includes use of camp showers and bathrooms with the daily use fee of $10.00 per vehicle paid directly to Boyd Ranch. Please pile your manure for caretaker to come and easily pick up. There will be receptacles for your bagged trash. Ranch Entry Fee: The Boyd Ranch daily use fee is $10.00 per vehicle per day or $15.00 per vehicle for one night or $25.00 per vehicle for two nights. The fee will be paid directly to the Boyd Ranch when you get to the ranch with cash or check please. We will not be able to accept debit/credit cards. Location & Directions: The Boyd Ranch is located just 12 miles north of downtown Wickenburg. You will traverse approximately 8 miles down Scenic Loop Drive from Hwy 93 to get to the Boyd Ranch. Depending on weather conditions prior to the ride Scenic Loop Drive can be very wash boardie and slow to travel. So please allow 30-40 minutes of travel time just for the 8 miles that you will be driving on Scenic Loop Drive. For turn-by-turn directions please visit the Boyd Ranch website @ www.boydranch.org or follow the directions written below from Wickenburg: Head North on Highway 93; immediately after mile marker 195, turn Right on Scenic Loop Drive; After driving approximately 8 miles down Scenic Loop Drive the Boyd Ranch will be on your right. Limited Distance: The 25 mile Limited Distance ride offers an opportunity for new riders to see what endurance is all about. 6 hours are allowed for completion of the Limited Distance ride. Your time does not stop when you cross the finish line. Your time stops when your horse s heart rate meets the finish criteria of 60 beats per minute. 12 Mile Fun Ride: The 12 mile ride must be completed in 5 hours elapsed time. Junior Riders must wear a helmet and be accompanied by a competent adult. Junior Riders: All junior riders must wear a helmet at all times while on an equine and ride with an adult sponsor. Those juniors who qualify to ride without a sponsor must have appropriate paperwork from AERC. Junior riders will receive a $20.00 discount (does not apply to fun ride). She has been a photographer for over 20 years. Through the years she has learned to see through the lens and transform her images into the work of art they become. Susan does freelance work for a number of equine magazines and submits images to online competitions. She also participates in juried gallery shows here in Arizona and shoots equestrian events. Susan has had a number of images featured on magazine covers over the past few years including Endurance News and The Horse. Articles featuring her images can be found in Endurance News, The Horse and Untacked and more. This past summer she was a featured Artist in a Mezzanine Art Show titled Essence of Equus at the Tis Gallery in Prescott, AZ. Awards: A completion award will be given to each participant who completes the ride. Please make sure and pick up your completion award before we leave on Sunday morning.
