The site is currently vacant with some informal motoring retail occupying a portion of the site to the north and a small hospital to the east. To the north of the site some informal retail is situated alongside a school. The only national retail preset is a Shell and Total garage. Because the site is situated next to a prominent road within the area (Tsamaya Ave) visibility and awareness from local residents and passing trade will be good. Copyright 2009: Fernridge Consulting

Centre Information Mamelodi is a bustling township adjacent to Pretoria East and it s here that developer McCormick Property Development saw an opportunity to establish a major retail development that could service this fast growing and rapidly empowered community. Right in the heart of Mamelodi obscured by dilapidated industrial units, lay the site chosen by the developers as perfect for the development. The consolidated stand now measures 11,1ha and has had its business rights approved. The location is ideal - being situated along the busy access arterial of Tsamaya Avenue. The intersection with Hinterland Avenue directly links the site to Vista University and Hans Strydom Drive in the rapidly-expanding Mamelodi East. According to the research conducted by Gintar Tech in 2005, the intersection at which the site is found is as busy as William Nicol and Atterbury Road intersections. We wanted this development to be sustainable as a walk-in centre - where the majority of the patrons will not require taxis or public transport to get there. However, given the significant nature of the development, a full-blown taxi rank will be provided for in the site.
Centre Information 2 This closed mall will boast 43 306m of prime retail space as well as a top notch food court and is set to become the prime retail destination for the Mamelodi area. In addition, this purpose built mall will also have a private hospital integrated into it as well as a Driver Learner Testing Centre for the Department of Transport and office space for the Department of Public Works. These will all be added draw cards, and will help cement the development as the premier commercial node within the township. I think the location is perfect and I am confident that the retailers who get involved in this scheme will benefit richly from this fast growing hub, comments Gavin Tagg. The location can be likened to Tsakane or Jabulani - which have both been highly successful malls. The Department of Transport has further plans to develop a motor hub adjacent to the site and new magistrates courts are well within walking distance. Two years ago the vicinity of the site was declared part of the mayoral project aimed at uplifting the area. The municipality has publicly supported the project and has been integral in assisting the consolidation of the site to its current format, as well as the awarding of business rights to the site. Earthworks will commence in October this year and the opening is scheduled for 28 April 2011
