Luxury awaits at river camps equipped with bathrooms and hot showers. Cost includes transportation, instruction, backcountry meals, permits, canoeing, and camping equipment. No experience necessary. Tip 02 Tip 01 When backpacking, plan to eat more food than usual. Backcountry travelers normally burn between 2,500 and 4,500 calories per day. When building a campfire, it is best to use sticks that are dead and down and can be broken by hand. Be sure to use existing fire rings instead of making your own and burn everything to ash before putting out the fire. Tip 03 Avoid wearing cotton outdoors during colder seasons. When cotton gets wet, it loses its warming properties. Wear clothing made of synthetic material, wool, or polyester instead.
