Dun Laoghaire, Sallynoggin and Loughlinstown Bus Review www.dublinbus.ie

Introduction Dun Laoghaire, Sallynoggin and Loughlinstown Bus Review Dublin Bus and the National Transport Authority (NTA) propose to improve your bus service in the Dun Laoghaire, Sallynoggin and Loughlinstown area. The proposals follow a review of public transport services undertaken in the area. Key outcomes from the review included the following requirements: Improve journey times on the key bus routes in the area Better match the level of service to the demand for travel from individual areas Provide more consistent frequencies on local services Network Improvements: A simple, easy to understand better connected network of bus services Increased frequency and capacity User friendly timetable evenly spread through the day Simplified route numbering These proposals are described in greater detail in the following pages. You are invited to consider the proposals and to send back your comments and suggestions. Contact details are provided on the back cover.

Sallyglen Road Proposal 1 Route 7 Proposal 1 Route 7 Route 7 Current Route 7 currently operates three buses per hour from Loughlinstown Park (with the exception of a ten minute service from 08.00 hrs to 08.30hrs) and an hourly service from Cherrywood Business Park to Mountjoy Square via Pearse Park Sallynoggin and Blackrock Village to Mountjoy Square. Proposed Route 7 The Route 7 proposal is to operate a 15 minute service along the main Route 7 alignment all day with the service split evenly between Loughlinstown Park (a bus every 30 minutes) and Brides Glen Luas Station Cherrywood (a bus every 30 minutes). The service will be re-aligned in the Sallynoggin area and instead of operating via Pearse Park, the service will use the more direct Sallyglen Road. New bus stops along Sallyglen Road will be provided and there is good pedestrian access to these stops from both sides of Sallyglen Road. This change will benefit customers all along the route by being faster, more direct and customer travel times will be reduced. Blackrock Park Current Route 7 George s Ave. Blackrock Dart Station Rock Hill Main St. Rock Rd. Carysfort Ave. Temple Rd. Frascati Rd. Blackrock Newtown Ave. Seapoint Ave. Monkstown Rd. Route 7 will also be re-aligned in Blackrock Village on journeys travelling towards the city centre. City centre bound services will remain on the Blackrock bypass. One new bus stop is proposed on the by-pass and the route will continue to serve the existing bus stop at Frascati. The benefit of this change is a significant reduction in customer travel times. Proposal 2 Route 7b Proposal 3 Route 7d Route 7b Current Route 7b operates five departures from Shankill Church to Mountjoy Square in the morning peak via Ballybrack Village, Rochestown Ave, Abbey Road, Stillor gan and terminating at Mountjoy Square. There are also four return jour neys in the evening peak from Mountjoy Square to Shankill Church. Proposed Route 7b It is proposed to retain the current morning and evening peak service with some slight timetable adjustments. Proposed New Time Table for Route 7b Route 7d Current Route 7d operates two morning departures from Dalkey via Sandycove, Glenageary Rd, Bakers Corner, Deans Grange Cross and Stillorgan to Mountjoy Square. Proposed route 7d It is proposed to keep the 7d on its current inbound alignment as far as Bakers Corner, but will in future turn right onto Abbey Road (the 7b route) and serve Strad brook Hill, Monkstown Ring Road, Stillorgan Road to City terminating at Mountjoy Square. 7b Buses leave terminus at From Mountjoy Sq. Sallyglen Road Shanganagh Rd. Proposal 4 Route 45a Proposal 5 Route 59 Route 45a current Route 45a currently operates a thirty minute service from Kilmacanogue to Dun Laoghaire via Ballybrack Village, Sallynoggin Road. Proposed route 45a It is proposed to retain the current timetable on Route 45a. However an alignment change is proposed in the Rochestown Ave/Sallynoggin area. The proposed route will operate as it currently does to the Graduate Pub, will then serve a section of Rochestown Ave and will serve Rochestown Park, Pearse Villas and Sallynoggin Road where it returns to its current alignment. This change will maintain a direct link in the Sallynoggin / Pearse Villas area to Dun Laoghaire Dart Station. National Rehabilitation Glenageary Road Sallynoggin Road Sallynoggin Glenageary Road Lower Glenageary Road Upper Rathdown Jnr. School Albert Road Upper Route 59 current Route 59 currently operates a 40 minute service from Dun Laoghaire to Mackintosh Park via Dalkey and Killiney. Proposal 6 Route 63 Summary Route 63 current Route 63 currently operates a thirty minute service from Kilternan to Dun Laoghaire via Ballyogan, Foxrock, Clonkeen Road, Deansgrange, Monkstown Farm and Dun Laoghaire. Proposed Route 63 It is proposed to retain the current Route 63 timetable which is frequent and simple to read. The route will largely remain as it is except that instead of operating along Clonkeen Road, the route will instead serve Cabinteely, Johnstown Road, Pottery Road, Mackintosh Park and back onto its route at Abbey Road. It will continue to serve Monkstown Farm and terminate in Dun Laoghaire. Route 8 The customer carryings on route 8 are insufficient for the service to be maintained in its current format. The increased frequency on Route 59 will offer alternative travel options as does the existing Route 7d departure. A departure at 8:00 from Dalkey providing a link to Monkstown will be operated during school terms. As a result, Route 8 will be cancelled. Summary Changes in roads, infrastructure and customers travelling requirements has resulted in Dublin Bus and the NTA being able to put together a proposal to revised bus routes and bus timetables in the Dun Laoghaire, Sallynoggin and Loughlinstown area. The main changes will be as follows Foxrock Current Route 63 Deansgrange Clonkeen College Cabinteely Park Kill O The Grange Rehabilitation Cabinteely Route Route 7 Route 7b Route 7d Route 45a Route 63 Route 59 Route 8 Route 111 Summary of Change Split service levels evenly between Loughlinstown and Cherrywood to provide a 15 minute service on the main sections Provide a faster, more direct routing by operating Sallyglen Road and Blackrock bypass (inbound) Easy to understand timetables Minor timetable change No timetable change, small routing change The current 30 minute timetable will be maintained. A routing change on Rochestown Ave to offer better connections to Dun Laoghaire The current 30 minute all day timetable will remain unchanged. A routing change from Clonkeen Road to Pottery Road will be made Significant routing change to make the route more direct and provide a direct connection to Loughlinstown Hospital. Improved frequency of every 30 minutes on an easy to understand timetable The route will be discontinued with alternatives being Routes 7d and Route 59 and a specific departure at 8:00 during school terms The route will be discontinued with alternatives being Routes 7 and 59.
