Terms and Conditions Timetables Timetables are subject to change and should be used as a guide only. Please check with the operating railway 24 hours before scheduled departure time. Train Fares All fares are quoted inclusive of GST effective 01 April 2008 31 March 2009 and are subject to change without prior notice. Return fares are generally double the one way fare unless specified. Concessions Child: aged 4-15 years inclusive. A child fare is payable if a child under the age of 4 years occupies a seat or berth. Ticketing and Payment For travel more than 60 days from date of booking, full payment is required within 30 days of booking. For travel less than 60 days but greater than 7 days from date of booking, payment deadline is calculated by halving the number of days from date of booking to date of travel. For travel less than 7 days from date of booking, full payment is required within 24 hours. Rail Saver fares and fares less than $120.00 per person are payable at time of booking. Cancellations and Amendments Detailed conditions for each product offered by Rail Plus are detailed in the accompanying documentation at time of tickets being issued. A copy of such conditions many also be found on the Rail Plus website. It is the responsibility of the passenger to read all documentation prior to the commencement of travel. The following schedule of fees (per person and/or per vehicle) will be levied in respect of cancellation of normal fares: xxxxxxx GSR Rail (The Ghan, The Indian Pacific and The Overland) More than 30 days before the train departure: 40% of total fare. 7-29 days before departure: 50% of total fare. Less than 7 days before departure: 75% of total fare. After departure date/time: no refund. CountryLink (XPT and Xplorer) and Queensland Rail (Tilt Train, Sunlander, Inlander, Westlander and Spirit of the Outback) Before ticketing: no cancellation fees apply, amendment fees apply for changes made. After ticketing: 25% of total fare. After departure date/time: no refund. Rail Passes Passes must be presented for refund unused and not validated. Partially used/validated passes are non-refundable. A $100 fee ($200 for Rail Explorer Pass) per pass cancellation fee applies. Rail Explorer Pass only: if passholder books a sector and does not travel without cancelling first, a $50.00 fee will apply and needs to be paid prior to travelling on the next sector. Holiday Packages More than 45 days before train departure: loss of any deposit. 15-45 days before departure: 50% of total package price. 7-14 days before departure: 75% of total package price. Less than 7 days before departure: no refund. Amendments of confirmed bookings may result in a fee of $100.00 in addition to costs charged by operators. Modifications of a confirmed booking can not be made less than 7 days prior to the travel date. Refunds Claims for refunds will be subject to a minimum processing fee of $100.00. For bookings made more than 45 days prior to travel on a Holiday Package, a nonrefundable deposit of $300.00 per person is required within 7 days of confirmation or the booking will be automatically cancelled. Full payment is required 45 days prior to travel. For all bookings made 45 days or less prior to departure, full payment is required within 2 days of confirmation. Bookings cannot be made less than 7 days prior to the date of travel. Travel Insurance We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance (including cancellation insurance) to cover any unforeseen occurrences. Your travel agent will be able to help you decide on the best policy for your needs. Luggage 40kgs of luggage may be conveyed free of charge in the luggage car. This allows 2 items not exceeding 20kgs each and not exceeding 180 linear centimetres. Excess luggage prices are available on application. Due to space constraints guests should only take on board hand luggage required for their journey. Checked in luggage cannot be accessed during the journey. Luggage should be checked in up to 30 minutes before departure. General Conditions Payments must be made strictly in accordance with the requirements stipulated for each product at the time of booking. All prices and product information indicated in the brochure are effective from 1 April 2008 and subject to change without notice. All prices are inclusive of any GST. Rail Plus offers all tickets at recommended market prices, however makes no undertaking that the prices paid for these tickets are the best applicable for the services provided. International sales conditions and distribution costs, fluctuating exchange rates, availability restrictions or other factors may reflect variance to domestic prices available in the country of travel or elsewhere quoted by or on behalf of the operating railway company. Rail Plus will not accept any claim in respect of such price variance. For avoidance of doubt, Rail Plus make no representation or warranty as regarding to the accuracy or correctness of any of the information contained in the brochure, or as given by its employees, staff, servants or agents from time to time, whether orally or in writing. Rail Plus shall not be liable for any loss, damage or claim whatsoever arising out of, or in connection with, any reliance on such information. All bookings are accepted subject to the conditions, tariffs and regulations as detailed in the passenger documentation and/or subsequently imposed by the rail companies, firms or persons concerned.
