Hotel Comfort Inn Times Square South 39th Street Breakfast room hot and cold buffet breakfast. Groups may be able to use the breakfast room as a recreational room once breakfast is finished. Students will be 4 to a room in double doubles, with bedshare All rooms with en-suite facilities bath/shower, toilet and washbasin All rooms with TV, coffee maker, airconditioning/heating
Day 2 21 st October Itinerary 09:00 13:15 15:00 19:00 Statue Cruise to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island Battery Park Visit the 9/11 Memorial Museum Two hour walking tour of the downtown district, to focus on Wall Street area Evening meal at Planet Hollywood
Day 3 22 nd October Itinerary 10.00 15:30 16:00 19:00 Meet coach to travel to Washington DC Arrive at Capitol Skyline Hotel in Washington. Free time (shopping?) evening meal at La Tasca
Capitol Skyline Hotel Large, bright lobby Breakfast room, where buffet breakfast is served. Large, outdoor pool. A lifeguard is on duty. Bar/lounge with outdoor terrace which overlooks the pool Fitness centre (adults only) Gift shop 2 to 4 bedded rooms for students Student share double beds. All rooms with en-suite facilities bath/ shower, toilet and washbasin All rooms with TV Wi-Fi available free of charge in bedrooms
Day 4 23 rd October Itinerary 09:00 PM 19:00 4 hour guided walking tour of the National Mall Memorials and the White House including the FDR Memorial, Korean War Veterans Memorial, Arlington National Cemetery, Lincoln Memorial, Vietnam Memorial and the WW2 Memorial. Visit the National Air and Space Museum Evening meal at Buca di Beppo
Day 5 24 th October Itinerary 09:00 11:55 PM 19:00 2 hour guided walking tour of the U.S. Capitol the Senate, House of Representatives, Supreme Court, Library of Congress (Outside only), the Mall, George Washington Monument and the White House (outside only). Visit the US Capitol Visitor Centre Visit the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum Evening meal, Hard Rock Cafe
Day 6 25 th October Itinerary 10:00 14:30 18:30 06:50 Check out of hotel, visit the Newseum Transfer to airport Flight departs. Flight Number: BA216 Arrive back at Heathrow T5 on 26 th October
Check-list: PASSPORT with ESTA Spending money in US$ - students will need enough to buy lunch everyday and spending money ($15 per day?) A warm and waterproof coat A couple of pairs of jeans or trousers A couple of warm jumpers/fleeces T shirts Underwear Sensible and comfortable shoes for walking Further pair or shoes for travel/indoor use Socks Pyjamas Toiletries Lightweight day bag Adaptor plugs Camera and charger/batteries Mobile phone/chargers Entertainment and snacks for the air and coach journeys A pen/pencil Umbrella Necessary medication - students must bring sufficient quantities of necessary prescribed medication for the whole trip. Anyone with Asthma should bring at least two inhalers on the trip.
In case of emergency There is also medical insurance, personal belongings insurance, personal injuries insurance etc. A full risk assessment has been conducted and I have visited the location many times on school trips. Behaviour and Expectations of the Pupils Please note: The initial letter sent out to parents/guardians outlined the expectations we have of our pupils attending the trip [see. Behaviour Code of Conduct]. Pupils have also had a meeting to discuss the itinerary of the trip and reminded of expectations. A copy of the Behaviour Code of Conduct is at the back of the parent & student booklet. Students are representing Rickmansworth School, therefore their behaviour must be exemplary at all times. Students must be quiet in the public areas of the hotel are expected to convey a mature and sensitive attitude. Students are not permitted to purchase/consume alcohol or cigarettes. All hotel rooms will be checked at lights out. No students are allowed to leave their rooms after this time. Any inappropriate behaviour will be treated seriously and consequences will follow when back in school.
