CAMPCARD PROGRAM The Suwannee River Area Council is pleased to announce the return of our Council-wide fundraiser the NEW amazing 2016 Camp Card. CAMP CARD SALES STRATEGY Set a Unit Sales goal! Parents will support this program if there is a clear, concise goal and purpose (i.e. Summer Camp, Day Camp, Equipment, Trailer, Pinewood Derby Track, etc.) Best Methods show that a unit should establish a goal and then develop a per Scout expectation. Think in terms of 20 Campcards (Cub Scout Day Camp) or 42 CampCards (Boy Scout Summer Camp), minimum. 1. Start with your families! Each family should be encouraged to purchase 10 cards ($100). Their son earns $50 for camp! 2. Parents should easily be able to sell 10 cards at work Another $50 for their son! 3. Scouts should easily be able to sell 10 cards to neighbors Another $50! 4. Scouts should coordinate sales times in front of high traffic areas (Stores, banks, churches, etc ). Another $50! 5. TOTAL possible commission for the Scout( in examples above).$200! 6. Encourage every Scout to earn their way to camp! Units should consider and are encouraged to develop their own prize program. Youth like prizes and recognition! (Pizza Party, Ipod, etc.) Conduct an ENTHUSIASTIC Kick-Off! A boring and dreary sales pitch to Scouts and families will result in boring and dreary commissions. Dream BIG! Be VERY clear with parents as to what the money earned will be used for after the fundraiser. Create a sense of urgency! People react to deadlines. We would like to have our campaign wrapped up by next week. If given three months to sell, families will take three months to sell, and sell everything the last week. Turn money in early! The Suwannee River Area Council will provide additional campcards to units turning in money. The amount of additional campcards that will be given will not exceed the number of cards the unit turned money in for at the Council Office. Control your inventory! You will also want the flexibility to provide additional cards to Scouts who are selling their campcards quickly. Collect any unsold cards from Scouts in an effort to redistribute them is very time consuming. GOOD LUCK! 5

YOUR UNIT CAMPCARD KICKOFF The objective for the Unit Camp Card Kick-off is Simple! Get Scouts excited about camping Ensure parents are informed about why their Scouts should attend camp How can you ensure a successful Kick-Off? Make sure the Kick-off has maximum attendance Be prepared to discuss summertime camping opportunities in the Council Make sure every Scout receives a bundle of at least 10 campcards. CampCard Kick-Off Sample Agenda 1. Grand Opening with music, cheers and EXCITEMENT! 2. Ensure each Scout sign out at least 10 CampCards. 3. Explain commissions and Incentives 4. Review summertime, camping opportunities in the Suwannee River Area Council (Cub Scout Day Camp, Boy Scout Camps, Venturing Camps) 5. Review Goals and Key Dates 6. Scout Training Role Play 7. Cover safety and courtesy tips 8. Big Finish. Send Scouts and parents home EXCITED to sell. REMEMBER, WE ARE SELLING CAMP, NOT JUST DISCOUNT CARDS Ensure your families understand they are selling character, they are selling a better community and they are selling the benefits of our Scouting Program. Emphasize that each card sold helps a Scout go to camp. The reason our sale will be successful is that people want to support Scouting and our Scouts. FOR A SUCCESSFUL SALE, ENSURE YOUR SCOUTS: Wear a Scout uniform, smile and say their first name. Tell the customer what unit they are with. Tell the customer how much THEY can save with a CampCard. Tell the customer why the Scouts are selling campcards. Close the sale and ALWAYS say THANK YOU! 6

RETURN POLICY Campcards may be turned-in to our Council Office to the CampCard Staff Advisor. The cards must be in new condition, with snap-offs still attached. Units are responsible for any cards that are lost, stolen, misplaced, or damaged. Scouts and parents should treat the cards like a TEN DOLLAR BILL ($10). COUNCIL INCENTIVES Scouts that sell 25 or more cards will be placed into drawings at the end of the sale for a free week at Cub Scout Day Camp, Boy Scout Summer Camp, Winter Camp, Cub Family Weekend and Venturing Superweekend. (5 Scholarships to camp will be given out). QUESTIONS If there are any questions, please contact the Council Service Center at 850-576-4146 ext.112 or email tia.pendleton@scouting.org. 7
