Under new protocols developed in consultation with SRA Communications, Aussietravelcover issued a series of statements to customers, travel agents, statutory authorities and the media confirming the limited nature of the breach - and helped introduce new safeguards designed to prevent a repeat of the incident. Key achievement in the past 12 months: Secured an in-depth interview with Labor Party powerbroker Tony Sheldon for a cover story in Thomson Reuters quarterly news journal Workplace Review. The interview looked at Sheldon s early days growing up in the Sydney beachside suburb of Cronulla, the influence of his parents and Catholicism on his career, and his hopes for the Transport Workers Union, the ALP and Australia. The story is part of ongoing news series on prominent IR figures. My former interviewees included Federal Minister for Employer Eric Abetz, President of the NSW Industrial Commission Justice Roger Boland and President of Fair Work Australia Justice Geoffrey Giudice (the contents of the Giudice interview were raised by then Opposition IR spokesperson Abetz in a series of questions put to Justice Giudice at a Federal Senates Estimates hearing in late 2011). NSW OLYMPIC COORDINATION AUTHORITY Feb Nov 2000 The NSW Olympic Coordination Authority (OCA) was established by the NSW Government to manage the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. Originally part of a three-way joint venture with the Olympic Roads and Transport Authority (ORTA) and the Sydney Organising Committee for the Olympic Games (SOCOG), the bodies was merged Games-time into Sydney 2000, an operational body headed by OCA director David Richmond. Games cost: $6.6 billion; NSW Government spend $3.3 billion. Title: Media manager (reported to the director of the Olympic Communication Centre) Responsibilities: A media relations manager responsible for promoting the environmental achievements of the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games. The NSW Government committed to make Sydney the first green Games in its tender to host the Games. Initial media contact for local and international media on environmental matters affecting the Games. One of a six-member team responsible for designing communication protocols in the event of an environmental emergency at the Games. Games-time, prepared a daily State of the Games report updating the media on venue and transport matters and a thrice-daily daily internal report to the director of communications identifying emerging crisis issues, along with suggested media responses. Wrote and distributed press releases to local and international media. Acted as an official Games spokesperson on venue and transport issues. Media Manager for the Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games.
