DID YOU KNOW? The hotel s name came from one of the ancient owners of the building, Filippo Brunelleschi, an incredible Renaissance artist who built Santa Maria del Fiore s dome. The luxurious hall within Hotel Brunelleschi is located in the former church of San Michele, called in Palchetto. The Pagliazza tower is a unique construction in the capital of Tuscany and the emblem of the hotel. Dating back to the Byzantine period, it is one of the oldest buildings within the city walls and it now hosts a few of the hotel s rooms. In the twelfth century, it was used as a women s prison, which is why it came to be known as the Pagliazza (from paglia, the Italian word for straw), because of the straw bedding used by the prisoners. American writer Dan Brown set parts of his two bestselling novels, The Da Vinci Code and Inferno, around Hotel Brunelleschi. The guest experience is enhanced with different Dr Vranjes fragrances, which have been made by professionals and selected for each area of the hotel, appealing to both adults and children.
