FLORIDA SPORTS TOUR 2018
Monday 2 nd April 2018 Day 1 Meet at the school gates at 2.00am. Cresta Coach Company. Depart from Pontarddulais Comprehensive at 2:30am for the coach transfer to Heathrow Airport. One stop on the M4 services. Depart Heathrow terminal 2 at 9:30am. UA879 Food will be provided on the plane. Arrive in Houston (IAH) at 13:55pm. UA 2103
Monday 2 nd April 2018 Day 1 Arrive in Houston (IAH) at 13:55pm. Allocated a room in Houston airport. Negotiating meal vouchers. Currency for the airport. Depart Houston (IAH) at 19:50pm. UA 2103 Arrives in Orlando at 23:10pm where we will be met by our rep from Leisure World. Transferred to the Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa for our 8-night stay.
Tuesday 3 rd April 2018 Day 2 Arrival time approximately 1.00am. Pirate themed plunge pool. Poolside bar and grill. Frankie Farrell s Irish bar and grill. Pizza Hut café express. Convenience store. Salon and spa. 24 hour fitness centre
Tuesday 3 rd April 2018 Day 2 Late breakfast at 9:00am. Pupils will spend the day relaxing by the pool. In the afternoon the girls hockey team will be playing against the Hoppers. Match time 1pm. Two fixtures. At the end of the day everyone will return to the Resort. 6.30pm evening meal at Pizza Hut.
Wednesday 4 th April 2018 Day 3 Breakfast at 8:00am Depart at 9:00am to the Universal Islands of of Adventure. Arrive at the park at 9:30am. We will spend the full day at the park until departure, which is at 22:00pm. Snacks and drinks throughout the day. Return to Buena Vista Resort Village and Spa at approximately 10.45pm.
Thursday 5 th April 2018 Day 4 Breakfast at the hotel will be at 8.00am. Collected by coach at 9:00am. Arrive at the Kennedy Space Centre at approximately 10.30am. At 12.30pm pupils will enjoy a meal with the Astronauts. Return to the coach at 17:30pm for the transfer back to the Buena Vista Resort at approximately 7.15pm.
Friday 6 th April 2018 Day 5 Breakfast at the hotel will be at 8:00am Few hours at the resort to relax by the pool. 14:00pm we will be collected by coach and transferred to the Orlando International Premium Outlet. Florida's largest shopping destination. 180 designer and name-brand outlet stores. We will also have the opportunity to have food at the shopping centre before returning to the coach at 18:00pm. Arrive at Buena Vista Resort Village and Spa at approximately 19.15pm.
Saturday 7 th April 2018 Day 6 Early breakfast at 7:00am. U15 boys FC Kissimmee United versus Pontarddulais 9:30am. U14 boys FC Kissimmee United versus Pontarddulais 11:30am. U15 girls FC Kissimmee United versus Pontarddulais 12:30am. Depart for Buena Vista Resort at approximately 1:30pm. Two fixtures each on this day. Playing surface to be confirmed. Evening meal 6.30pm.
Sunday 8 th April 2018-Day 7 Breakfast at the hotel 8:00am Collected by coach at 9:00am and transferred to Sea World. New rapids ride called infinity Falls 2018. Change of clothing to the park. Depart SeaWorld at 17:30pm. Pupils will need to do some packing in the evening as we have a busy agenda for the following day.
Sunday 8 th April 2018-Day 7
Monday 9 th April 2018-Day 8 Breakfast at the hotel will be at 8:00am We will be collected by coach at 8:45am and transferred to Wild Florida. Arrive at approximately 9:45am with an Airboat Ride on Swampland at 10:15am. You will have the chance to handle baby alligators and other animals. Opportunity to have some lunch before returning to the coach at 13:30pm.
Monday 9 th April 2018-Day 8 Return to the resort to freshen up and pack before the coach collects us at 18:00pm We will then be transferred to the Hard Rock Cafe where we have a reservation for our evening meal at 19:00pm. After your meal the coach will then return to the Buena Vista.
Tuesday 10 th April 2018 Day 9 After breakfast at the hotel at 8:00am. Departure from the hotel is 10.00am. Transferred to Orlando Airport Flight departs Orlando at 14:10pm Arrive in Newark at 17:00pm UA 1601 Depart Newark at 18.00pm UA 110 Arrive in Heathrow 6.20am.
Monday 11 th April 2018 Day 10 Arrive in Heathrow at 6:20am. One stop in the services on the M4. Arrive at Pontarddulais Comprehensive School at approximately 11.00am. Pupils will be advised to contact parents when we travelling over the seven bridge.
Passports The teacher in charge of the pupils group will be in charge of the passports. Pupils will be handed their passports to go through customs control and the necessary security checks. Passports will be returned immediately back to their group leader. On arrival to the Buena Vista Resort, all passports will be stored in the hotel safe and collected at the end of the holiday: 9 th April 2018.
Money 40 sterling for the service stations and departures. Recommended dollars to take to Florida is a minimum of $560: $80 dollars a day. This should cover their food and drink for the day. Should the pupils want to purchase any extras when they visit the shopping mall, then they would need to bring additional funds. AM/PM banking will be available by the group leader. Pupils will be given an allowance every day. The amount withdrawn will be an independent decision by the pupil, but will be monitored by the teacher in charge. Current exchange rate. 1 equals 1.39 US Dollar.

What will the pupils need to pack? Insurance Extensive insured policy which covers all medical incidents. However we are not insured for any luxury items such as mobile phones. Essential medicines and medical equipment You are allowed to carry essential medicines of no more than 100ml in your hand luggage, including liquid dietary food and inhalers. However, you will need documentation from a relevant medical professional, for example a letter from your doctor. Airport staff might need to open the containers to screen the liquids at the security point.
Taking liquids through security There are restrictions on the amount of liquids you can take in your hand luggage. If possible, pack liquids in your hold baggage (luggage that you check in). Liquids include: All drinks, including water. Semi-liquid foods, for example soup, jam, honey and syrup. Cosmetics and toiletries, including creams, lotions, oils, perfumes, mascara and lip gloss. Sprays, including shaving foam, hairspray and deodorants. Pastes, including toothpaste. Gels, including hair and shower gel. Contact lens solution and any other items of similar consistency.
If you do take liquids in your hand luggage: Containers must hold no more than 100ml Containers must be in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag, which holds no more than a litre and measures approximately 20cm x 20cm. Contents must fit comfortably inside the bag so it can be sealed. The bag must not be knotted or tied at the top. Limited to one plastic bag per person.
Pupil Conduct Zero tolerance. Discipline sanctions apply in Florida as they do in school. Ambassadors of Pontarddulais Comprehensive School. Manners around the hotel. Listening to instructions and communication when visiting the parks. Etiquette during sports fixtures. Any valuables taken to Florida will be the responsibility of the pupils e.g. hair straighteners, ipad, jewellery and cameras. Please turn off data roaming on your mobile phones before you depart Heathrow.
Pupil Conduct The pupils will be allowed to go round the theme parks without a member of staff but they must be in small groups. Each pupil will have an information card to carry in the wallet with my telephone number on should they need it in an emergency. My contact details will also be in reception which will be the main meeting point at the start and the end of the day. Every coach journey, before departure, a register will be taken. This will ensure that we do not leave any pupils or staff behind. Every late evening, group leaders or the members of staff on duty will carry out daily checks on the pupil rooms. This is to ensure that all pupils are in the correct rooms. We have requested rooms without balconies, however please warn your son/daughter about the safety of these facilities should we be allocated any of these rooms.
