SUMMARY OF THE LARGEST IRRIGATION PROJECTS To date, three major projects are under development that will increase agricultural land dedicated to agro exports from 10,000 to almost 240,000 hectares. OLMOS-TINAJONES PROJECT (started in 2004) allows the transfer of water from the Atlantic-basin over to the Peruvian coast for the irrigation of 38,000 ha. of new land, and improve irrigation of existing 5,550 ha. more efficiently in the Lambayeque department. MAJES SIGUAS MAJES SIGUAS II (started in 2010) allows for the incorporation of 38,000 ha. of land for agriculture in the south coast of Peru. CHAVIMOCHIC (started in 2014) which will enable 63,000 ha. of new land for agriculture and improve another 48,000 ha.
