The Prestige Road Rally Club presents: The Alpine Adventure 23 rd 28 th September 2015 Our newest and most elegant rally: new routes new hotels! Yours is a lake facing room, and you ll be enjoying wonderful Alpine driving on three exciting pre planned routes starting and returning to Lake Annecy each day. Perfectly timed too - just after the summer s holiday crowds have departed, when the weather is still gorgeous, and while the mountain passes are still open before the first snows herald the beginning of the ski season A comment I often hear is, Clive you have found us another wonderful hotel, but we ll only be in it for a few hours before we have to pack up and be on our way Ah such is the nature of rallies and driving holidays! Well this time you will be able to unpack and be settled for 4 whole glorious nights at the luxurious and very comfortable Imperial Palace Hotel - set in its own parkland on the shores of Lake Annecy just a short distance from Geneva and perfectly placed for access to the finest Alpine roads. For this PRRC Rally at least, gone is the baggage vehicle and the packing up each morning, and re packing the car you are settled what bliss! The driving will be incredible and our three circular routes of between four and five hours per day follow some of the historic mountain climbs of the original Coupe des Alpes events. Moreover, we ve found a lovely hotel in Chablis (pictured below) for you to break your journey, where supper is at leisure, giving you the freedom to arrive whenever you like, and perhaps have time to re-acquaint with old friends from previous rallies.
Each day s driving is stimulating and challenging in places; each night s dinner is different and will be a memorable occasion in its own right We are limiting entries to this rally to Members, each of whom is entitled to bring a co driver/passenger; and in addition introduce up to two guest teams (a team being a car and two drivers). As usual the event is open to classic cars, supercars, and interesting vehicles Driving on the alpine roads I am sure you know that in mountain speak a Col is a geomorphologic term referring to the lowest point on a mountain ridge between two peaks. I had to look it up! We shall be driving up some little known Cols from the top of which will always be breathtaking views of nearby lakes and distant mountains. Day One - We head north-east over Mont Saleve towards Geneva, before driving through the Chablais region for lunch in the ski resort of Morzine. Returning via classic climbs like the Col de la Colombiere on the spectacular Route des Grandes Alpes. (approx 4 hours driving) Col de la Colombiere
Day Two - Plenty of Cols today as the route heads south east towards the Savoy Alps, with views of Mont Blanc and as far as Bourg-Saint-Maurice, with lunch in Chamonix before returning the long route via Albertville, where you ll have the chance to explore some testing little Cols (which close during the winter snows), ( about 5:40 hours driving) or you can take a shorter route home via Flumet & Marlens (approx 4:30 hours driving) Savoy Alps & Mont Blanc Day Three - Today it s west through rolling countryside of the Rhone valley. There will be the Col de la Biche and the Grand Colombier to climb before heading south towards a lunch stop at Aix les Bains. The afternoon run includes Mont Revard and the Semnoz ridge before dropping right down into the centre of Annecy and the finish. (approx 4:30hours driving) An Alpine Lake Aix les Bains
Our hotel The Imperial Palace, Annecy The Terrace overlooking the Lake Built in 1913, this grand belle epoque casino hotel overlooks Lac d Annecy. It s a 20 minute walk (or a 16 euro taxi ride of you don t want to drive) form the centre of Annecy, with its Venice-like canals. There are 2 refined restaurants including La Voile, which we ve chosen for our first night s gastronomic welcome, a bustling brassiere and a stylish bar, all serving seasonally inspired cuisine. There is also a casino with gaming tables and slot machines, and a very pleasant day spa. Lake facing rooms are a treat, and booking a suite ensures a living room, whirlpool tub and/or a terrace. The evening events On the first night we have most of La Voile, the gourmet restaurant reserved for us. Although the restaurant itself doesn t yet have a Michelin star, Jean- Christophe Ansanay-Alex, the Michelin-star Chef of La Voile, offers us a delicious gourmet dining experience
Then, we will follow the tradition of the classic cars racing in the original Coupe des Alpes events, where they used to have the second night s dinner aboard a steamer on the lake. Sadly, the steamer is long gone but it has been replaced by the sleek motor vessel Libellule. Cruising the lake as the sun goes down is a delightful experience and the food is good too! You have a choice on night 3 of our stay in Annecy - we can walk to the Moon beach bar for cocktails and a lighter supper. For those who would prefer to have a night off to do their own thing, here is the opportunity. Just so you know, there is a 2 Michelin star restaurant in Annecy where we have tables reserved we can chat this through on booking On the final night we ll have our own private dining room at the Imperial Palace, for the usual Finishing Line Dinner of entertainment, Awards and general last night revelry The journey to and from Lake Annecy You package price will include a flexible return Le Shuttle ticket allowing you to please yourself how your trip continues at the end of the Alpine Adventure. If you would like help with route planning for the return we ll happily chat this through and help with hotel reservations. As you know, an hotel is provided in Chablis to ease the outward journey
