H F WANGIFLEX CUS CUS NEWSLETTER OF THE WANGI WORKERS CAMERA CLUB AUGUST 2016 The August competition night was held on Monday 8th August. Member attendance was 32 which included two new members, Charlotte Gale and Naomi Nichols. We had three visitors on the night, Donna Brown, Sonja and Ray Oliver. There were 44 print entries in the August competition over the 4 categories of:- A Grade Open Colour Print B Grade Open Colour Print Set Subject In the Community Set Subject In the Community Results of the Mono EDI submitted in August will be presented on September competition night. Brad welcomed everyone to the meeting and spoke about several items of general business. Apologies were received from Chris Townsend, Ikuyo Pugh, Penny Watkins and Vicki and Dave Bouten. Memberships Fees are now due and remain at $30 per member. Selena Simpson from Sun Studios has moved her 3 rd tutorial at our club from August to September 26 th. The 2016 NPF Competition is on 27 th and 28 Th August, at Belmont 16ft Sailing Club. There has been some rearrangement of speakers at NPF - further details at club meeting on Monday 22 nd August. The Prize at NPF: A portrait of a group or individual shot at the NPF on Sunday morning by photographers on the latest equipment and then printed by a Canon master printer to A2 size on the best printer available in the country and framed by Canon Australia. Or if you prefer you can provide your favourite file and the Canon master printer will assist you to optimise it and then print and frame it...and ten chances to win!!! SO BRING ALONG YOUR FAVORITE PHOTO ON A USB STICK!!!! Brad introduced our judge for the night Dianne Scofield. Dianne s first camera was a Box Brownie, but photography took a back seat as she completed her studies to become a Librarian, work full time & raise twins. Her passion for photography was renewed when Diane studied photography & dark room techniques under Allen Chawner at Newcastle University She used a Pentax, but progressed to digital cameras using Canon 10, 20, 30D, & 5D MarkII models Now uses a 40D & 7D & enjoys take landscape, nature & sneak shots of people Dianne has shared her passion for photography with husband Colin & they completed the NSW FCC Judges course & have since judged many competitions in the Hunter & Central Coast areas. She has also judged at the International Maitland Salon, the NPF this year, the Mattara Festival & will be judging at the Henry Lawson competition & the National Newcastle Show. We will still have our "Basic Camera Corner" for those who are still trying to figure out their cameras. So bring along your cameras and note books, and if you wish you could bring your laptops to follow the Photoshop instructions. Our Tassie Trip By Colleen Price David and I had a great time exploring the Apple Isle. We were lucky to have a smooth crossing on The Spirit of Tasmania, landing in Devonport in time for sunrise. (Those who know us well understand this to be a rarity). Sunrise at Ulverstone using my Nikon D750, (28-300mm Lens. 1/800 sec at F6.3, 38mm, ISO 400) We spent 3 nights at Burnie. From here we explored the North West: Arthur River, The Edge of the Earth at West Point, Smithton, Stanley and the Nut, Wynyard and Beaches along the way.
