EXHIBITIONGROUND ADAARAN SELECT HUDHURANFUSHI RESORT MALDIVES

ABOUT IMTM IMTM 2018 is an international travel and trade fair set to be held from the 23-24th June 2018 in Adaaran Select Hudhuranfushi Resort, Maldives. It is an event which will feature close to 50 Exhibitors (Destination Management Companies) representative of 20 countries spread throughout 5 continents. Maldives is famous for its peacefulness, and tranquil pace of life. Thus, in respecting the traditions and norms of this beautiful land, the location and setting of the event has been strategically designed is to create a tropical and laid-back atmosphere aimed at creating a more productive business environment. The tourism industry of Maldives is the nation s key economic sector with a valuation exceeding USD 1 billion. Official statistics reveal that the total tourism revenue garnered in the year 2016 reached over USD 500 million. While the Resort and Liveaboard industries scope and value is well-known internationally, the economic potential of the Guesthouse industry is a lesser known fact, worth mentioning. The tourist Guesthouse industry is one of the fastest growing industries in the Maldives (Maldives Inland Revenue Authority, 2016) with over 600 Guesthouses, 6500 beds. 150,000 visitors, 500,000 bed nights and valued at over USD 200 million in 2016. RE RESORTS 140 + SV LIVEABOARDS 180 + HG GUESTHOUSES 500 + BD BEDS 40 000 + TR TOURISTS 1.3 M + BN BED NIGHTS 7 M + TC TOURIST RECEIPTS 2.5 B + RV REVENUE 500 M +

WHY IMTM? Research indicates that most of the tourism stakeholders do not attend International Travel and Trade Fairs as a major collective. Major trade fairs such as ITB Berlin (Germany) and World Travel Market (WTM) (UK) are the only 2 exceptions which consist of a widespread industry presence year after year with participation numbers exceeding 100. Even then, high costs of participation do not ensure a proportional representation between Resorts, Liveaboards and Guesthouses. IMTM 2018 seeks to provide a cost-effective internal platform which can garner a major collective industry presence consisting of all 3 sectors (Resorts/Hotels, Liveaboards and Guesthouses) for international buyers to meet with. RE RESORTS 140 + LV LIVEABOARDS 180 + HG GUESTHOUSES 500 + INB INTERNATONAL BUYERS

SIGNIFICANCE OF IMTM TO THE GUESTHOUSES INDUSTRY OF MALDIVES Research indicates that the guesthouse industry is not optimally represented through travel agencies and tour operators. Most guesthouse establishments rely heavily on OTA s such as booking.com and agoda.com. One of our objectives is bridge the gap between travel agents and tour operators and the Guesthouse industry of Maldives by providing a world-class platform. IMTM 2018 also seeks to differentiate itself by providing a semi-formal setting by hosting the exhibition in a pristine tropical resort in the Maldives. Thus, allowing exhibitors and delegates to indulge in a true Maldivian holiday experience before, during and after the official exhibition dates. EXHIBITION VENUE The event will be held at either a 4 or 5 star resort in Maldives nearby Velana International Airport. IMTM 2018 will provide discounted room rates and packages for our exhibitors and delegates to ensure that participating in IMTM 2018 becomes a unique MICE experience combing business and pleasure.
