Event Introduction The event is being organised by Active Devon. The School Games was created as part of the 2012 Olympic legacy aimed to increase opportunities for young people to compete on a local, regional and national level. The School Games is a unique opportunity to motivate and inspire millions of young people across the country to take part in more competitive school sport. The structure of the event has remained the same as previous years with a culmination of County Finals taking place across 3 venues in one day. Event Overview Name: Devon Winter School Games Date: Thursday 22nd March 2018 Venue: Torbay Leisure Centre, Paignton Community & Sport Academy and Torbay Velopark. (Registration & The Opening Ceremony will take place in Torbay Leisure Centre Sports Hall) Aim To deliver a safe, effective and enjoyable competitive sports event for Devon school children. Audience Devon School children, teachers and support staff. The maximum number of participants, volunteers and staff will be in the region of 1000. Spectators & Guests There will be a number of Active Devon and School Games Organiser partners invited and hosted by Active Devon. A short reception will take place between 1100-1200. Anyone wishing to take photographs will be required to sign in at the school games reception for a brief and collect a yellow photo consent wrist band. 4

Venues The Devon Winter School Games will take place at 3 venues, The Torbay Leisure Centre, Paignton Community & Sports Academy and Torbay Velopark. This cafe has a food hygiene rating of 5 (Very Good) 8

Venue - Torbay Velopark (V) Refreshments and Catering A coffee machine and snacks will be available to purchase in the Velopark portacabin. Toilets & Changing Facilities There are toilet & changing rooms available in the block just outside the Velopark Entrance and at the bottom of the leisure centre car park. Route from Torbay Leisure Centre to Drop Off Point Paignton Academy - Drop Off Point The drop off point is directly outside the Paignton Academy main entrance on Waterleat Road. Please DO NOT attempt to turn around here, continue on Waterleat Road and turn LEFT on to KINGS ASH ROAD, LEFT on to TOTNES ROAD to access the Paignton Zoo Overflow Car park. Paignton Academy Drop Off to Parking Paignton Zoo overflow car park will be staffed for School Games vehicles ONLY and will be FREE and accessible from 1000-1530 for coaches, mini buses, vans and cars. 21

All accidents and incidents must be reported to the First Aid staff or the Event Staff who will ensure that the necessary accident / incident procedure is followed and report form is completed.. One first aider will be situated in the Torbay Leisure Centre. One first aider will cover the outdoor sports at the Torbay Leisure Centre. One first aider will cover the Velopark venue. One first aider will cover Paignton Community & Sports Academy venue. (BRIGHT GREEN) wristbands will be issued for those children. Official Photographers will be clearly identifiable with a waistcoat and instructed not to take photographs of anyone wearing a (BRIGHT GREEN) wristband. Everyone wishing to take photographs will be required to register at beginning of the day and will be issued a Yellow Photo Consent wristbands to wear throughout the event. This applies to mobile phones that are to be used as cameras. Litter Bins are provided at the venues, please avoid leaving litter as this will have to be collected by our volunteers at the end of the event. 23
Lost Property Lost property will be kept on the site and will be up to the discretion of the venue as to how long the items are kept.
