Before the vst... Hstory recap : Collaboraton was the cooperaton wth the German nvaders between 1940 and 1945. 1. From what you know and what you have just read, connect these men to the approprate word below : Htler, the leader of Germany, wanted France and Europe to become German. He nvaded France n 1939. In 1940, after a «Bltzkreg» France was defeated and partly occuped by the Germans. The other part, known as Vchy France, was governed by Marechal Pétan who collaborated* wth Germans. The resstance was the French people organsaton whch was aganst aganst the power of German forces n France. The resstance fghters fought a secret war aganst the Germans. If they were caught they could be executed. Esenhower Htler Charles de Gaulle General De Gaulle wanted to lberate France. He took refuge n England and appeals to the French people to keep up the resstance*. (Broadcast of June 18th 1940). Area under German Occupaton Free Vchy France Occupaton- Germany Resstance Lberaton- Alles Thousands of Amercan, Englsh and Canadan solders met n England to prepare for the lberaton of France from the Germans. They were commanded by General Esenhower. On June 6th 1944 the Alles* landed n Normandy. Code name : Operaton Overlord The Alles were all those natons who fought together aganst the German forces. 4 5

Normandy was chosen for the Invason because ts wde beaches would enable the landng of a huge amount of men and equpment. Also because Normandy was not as well defended as other sectors. June 5th 1944 was the eve of the nvason. The alled troops were all ready to set off for Normandy to lberate France. I started ths drawng n 1944. These glders were landng n our felds! 10. In 1944, the cvlans contnued to lve n ther vllages and towns despte the War. «OPERATION NEPTUNE» BUILDING «Operaton Neptune» was the codename of the frst assault phase of the Alled landng n Normandy. Let s go and experence the events of June 6th 1944 and the Battle of Normandy! 13. In the Amercan army there were also women. You can see some of ther unforms on the way to the ext. They could occupy multple postons, two of whch are n the below proposals. In fact, both of these elements were forecast to be good on the 5th, 6th and 7th and the orgnal plan was to go on the 5th. However, due to a storm over the channel, D Day was delayed by 24 hours!
